  • One of the most iconic players at one of college basketball's most iconic programs, Phil Ford has a legacy that will live on for generations of Tar Heel fans. Born in Kannapolis, North Carolina and going to high school in Rocky Mount, it was almost certain that Ford would wind up playing in Chapel Hill.
Once he got there, UNC fans instantly knew Ford was something special, as he became the first ever freshman under Dean Smith to start his first career game. His legacy in Chapel Hill only continued to grow as the years went on, racking up three All-ACC and three All-American seasons. By the time Ford left Chapel Hill via the 2nd overall pick of the 1978 NBA Draft, he held the Tar Heel records for career scoring and assists. He is widely considered the best point guard in North Carolina history, and one of the best point guards college basketball has ever seen.
Our host Cory Alexander took a visit to Chapel Hill to sit down with Ford and relive his incredible career, most impactful memories and more!

I grew up watching Phil Ford run that 4 corners. To this day he's still my favorite player.
