There are two data knifes that a pilot has one on him and on in the hidden kit if he is captured and the data knife was for hacking and stabbing but only robotic enemies and mainly in the back of the head of said robotic enemies

I loved that you looked into it enough to know it's not ever used as a "weapon" in the game, and always as a tool. The punches and kicks in the game are literally the most forceful attack in the game bar titan attacks
Honestly I’m just happy to see titanfall getting recognition but also a few things: 1: as many people have stated pilots have augmentations so they can literally break bones with their bare hands 2: it’s only meant for hacking and general survival as in the last mission you get the S.E.R.E kit by means that won’t say to avoid spoilers 3: in Titanfall 1 (rip) it was used to either only hack spectres or turrets and with the turrets it pryed the panel open to allow access to the hacking bit
You also stab it into the back of drones to hack them. But I wouldn't be surprised of the name data knife was something the grunts came up with seeing a Pilot use it and the name just stuck.
Execution? Because I dont remember that was it in titanfall 2 because my best guess is that those are newer ones and sharper while the originals where clunky comparatively

Looks like if you attack someone with it the knife would have trouble hacking since the electrical components on the blade could be damaged when used on flesh or in combat. In summary, once you use it as a normal knife, it becomes a normal knife.
Only if you have the electronics extended when you use it as such. The actual risk is that you bend or break the knife on the pilot’s armor and prevent the electrical components from extending. I don’t think those things are cheap.

Something else to note is that you use it to stab robot ai enemies in the head and hack them to fight for you In mp, and if they actually kill someone you get the credit for personal ownership.
I don't know if they added the giant turrets to Titanfall 2 as I mostly played campaign and only a small select handful of my favorite multiplayer maps. Hacking the turrets was my favorite part of Titanfall 1. There's this one map that was at night and it was some sort of giant hanger and there are several giant parts and one part of the map. Out hack it and watch some Titans that were passing by get absolutely annihilated. It was like fine wine, just got better with time.

It is actually also a full knife, too, it has a full sharp edge along with the saw blade and seatbelt cutter like you said the data part only slips out when needed.
I believe they would actually use a pulse blade, or just a regular combat knife because they're one of the most trained military forces in gaming history

Nah, pilots don't have nanobots, the only special tech they use is the data knife and jump kit. Other then that they're just really well trained soldiers, like th SAS
That's a rlly good idea That's a small 🤏 computer and it's better for hacking than a big computer station thing and it actually connects to pilots helmet that's usedpractycly for everything is Titanfall The data knife can be used as a control stick for staring a ship, a big canon and such and if you rlly want to see what the data knife is used for you can go and play the game or just watch it For me this game is 9/10 but it should be 10/10 why? It's because the devs abandoned the game but there are still 30000 players playing at the same time and the base concept of this game is that you're a mobile fast assassin and the most of the game is to learn the best movement techniques and use op weapons ( and it's actually a good idea to have most of the weapons op so that all are at the same level like: Kraber it's a hard to use sniper rifle that can kill you if you get hit in your toes, or alternator that you can sprint with or just use fast )
I really love this game but I had to delete it as it was almost unplayable due to hackers and my really crappy internet. But at least I have the platinum trophy for it.

This also seemingly doesn't take into account the fact that a Pilot is the single highest most valuable infantry asset on the battlefield. Of course it is sophisticated, it has to be. Titans you can replace. Not Pilots
The lethality behind the Data Knife comes, not from the knife itself, but the Pilot who wields it. An execution in-game is where the Pilot will jump onto their target’s shoulders and then bring the thing down over the front of their target’s face or helmet. In both cases, you’re looking at forced entry via what would be the nasal cavity. But for helmeted targets in particular? That helmet gets shattered out into chunks.
I’d be interested in seeing you analyze the more weaponized version of this knife used by Bangalore in Apex legends. Her Heirloom melee weapon canonically is a Pilot data knife, but it’s a very different design to this.
I do think it's strange that they hardly use the data knives. But I think it's completely fine in the video game setting it's place in, the developers probably liked the kicking and punching more and so do I, it's a simple melee animation but it's fun.
Titanfall has always had some of my favorite scifi design in video games (modern video games i suppose) because it does look like high tech "standard issue" weapons for the most part, a lot of things look like an upgrade of an earlier model, i dont know how to explain it

The ability to survive large drops are due to the Pilot's Jump Kit. Although having augments certainly would make it easier.

It has sharp edge but not really good for combat. It's mainly for survival purpose like skinning or cutting meat.
So, in other words, no, but it's an amazing tool. It's a survival knife for their world, not a combat knife.
In the execution "Takedown" your pilot is strong enough, or the blade is sharp enough, to punch through a pilot helmet with ease
As shown in the animations the pilots usually have to put force behind the knife as it’s not a very sharp object

There is a special kill where the pilot uses the knife to stab some one

Survival tool, the math says pilots punch at Mach 5, all you’re doing with a knife is adding damage at that point.
Well, it really isn’t designed as a combat weapon. It does have the blade, but it’s more of a hacking multi tool.
