Mark, I’m just scratching my head as I watch you shoot your buffalo rifle at these distances and score hits, freehanded, no sticks!
Terrific video!
Take care and be well!
Lol, thanks Paul, glad you liked, Cheers
Getting all the Quigley Down Under vibes from this, shooting off hand like that. Wonderful content, love your stuff.
Lol, cheers
My exact thought. Even queued the movie as soon as I saw Mark & Sam's thumbnail.
Thank you Mark & Sam for sharing.
Never anything less then impressed by y'all's marksmanship amazing great video beautiful piece of history that 1200 hit I said the same thing when you said it lol
Cheers Allen, thanks
Wow. !! Out of all the shooting I've seen you do this has impressed me the most. Off hand with open sites at over 1km albeit with a precision style rifle (from yesteryear) and hit the modest sized target, and scare it a few times as well. A real testament to your passion and ability. Respect.!!
Thanks Terry, glad you liked, Cheers
Bloody hell, I'd be happy hitting a target at over 600 yards, let alone nearly 1200, sitting at a bench and Mark just off-hands it with a Sharps and ladder sights. Nicely done.
Thanks Man, glad you liked, Cheers
Amazing 🤩 open sights at that distance takes real skills
Thanks James, a little luck doesn't hurt either, Cheers
When the Army was trained with the 45-70, they were taught to use it similar to artillery in the Indian Wars. The plains allowed such long-range engagements for some Army units they were able to see the Native-Americans from 2 miles and begin shooting and making hits well before the Native-Americans could get even remotely close. The rifle saw a lot of action, but was quickly swapped out for the 45-70, 38, & 45 repeaters especially in the Apache and Comanche wars. Many of the Native-American tribes were so good at camouflage and stalking without being seen, they could close the distance with the soldiers before many knew what was even happening with multiple units being wiped out. The 45-70 Sharp's also wasn't good for against an overwhelming numbered force due to the slower reload times, and this was most evident in areas where canyons or terrain allowed for closing the distance rapidly. By far one of the greatest rifles ever created though. I wouldn't want to get hit by that bullet as it is massive and would likely cut you almost in half were you to be struck in the chest or pelvis. Many a leg and arm were blown off or had to be amputated due to the bullet from the rifle.
Thanks Man, cheers
You must have excellent vision to see your target at that range. I’d be lucky to see a white blur. As always a great job and another outstanding video. Thank you both for your hard work to bring us the best ELR videos on any platform.
Thanks Cory, cheers and all the best
Great vid demonstrating how 1800s long range sniper shots are not just myths, but totally possible
Cheers Tuco, glad you liked, Cheers
Not sure what I enjoy most.. Your shooting, or her laughing! Good stuff.
Thanks Jeff, Cheers
Fantastic shooting, can’t believe the group you were getting, most excited I’ve seen you in a while. Keep up the great work guys
Thanks Dan, Cheers
Amazing shooting as usual!! You make it look easy…. Those are wonderful rifles. I have an uberti 1874 sharps rifle in 45-70 with the tang sight.
Awesome, Cheers
I had one for a bit with a malcolm 6x scope and double set trigger. It was a blast to shoot, and you could load it heavier without worry.
Great offhand shooting with that ladder sight🏹😊
Thanks D
Windy as heck and still makes it, Wow...
👍👍
I love your content. Y’all’s relationship is one to really appreciate
Thanks Man, Cheers
Well Done!!! And what fun to see it connect at that distance! Can't wait to see it again with a peep sight from a rest!
Thanks Dino, Cheers Man
freakin awesome 😁👍 love to see "old iron" proving it can still reach out and touch something 😁👍
Yep, Cheers
Excellent work my friend. Always impressed with your skill. Thanks for sharing your fun.
cheers Eric
I just bought the wide right hand shooter adjustable bag base. Excited about using it.
Awesome, Cheers Tuco, all the very best.
Guess we're going to call you Mark Quiggley down under.
If that rifle had an optic you'd be able to see the target. Have you shot a Number 1 Ruger as you can get them in various calibers 7rem mag. 300win may, I think just about any caliber plus you can mount an optic on it it is a falling block single shot as well.
Truly amazing man.
I always say the safest place to stay out of range from Mark and Sam is behind them.
God bless you and your loved ones
Godspeed
Lol, thanks Buzz, glad you liked, Cheers and all the best
“Hit!”
“Oh, you’re kidding me!”
Lol. Great vid.
Lol, Cheers Man, thanks

Hell I’m amazed you could even see the target let alone hit it.
They are very cool rifles.
Thanks John, Cheers
Well, old boy, I saw nearly one hundred times this video. Awesome! Fantastic!
Now you know how it feel's like shooting one single shot at a time with an magnum air rifle. Considering all the differences, it's very similar.
Take care both of you. Cheers!
Thanks Billy, cheers
Great shooting. My shoulder hurts after watching that. Cheers
Lol, cheers
Amazing shooting. Very impressed with the team work and results. You have a new subscriber.

Straight out of Quigley Down Under! Nice shooting with one of my all time favorite rifles.
Cheers Jeremy
Old time ELR! Beautiful rifle. I'm looking forward to the next video.
While many haven taken note of the buffalo rifle from "Quigley Down Under", I remember watching a much older movie, " The Last Hunt" from 1956 that featured footage of an actual cull of a herd using single shot long range rifles. I can't remember if they were Sharp's. I'll have to look it up.
Cheers
That is amazing , off hand at 1200 yards. It shows how skilled you are.
and a bit lucky, lol, glad you liked, Cheers

Great video mates! Holy moley for sure! That rifle is a bit of fair dinkum. I had to laugh when you made that hit at 1,200 yds. I can't wait to see more shooting video with you and Sam shooting from a rest and you installing the tang sight. Cheers!
Thanks Steve, Cheers mate, all the best
This is going to be awesome
Lol, Cheers
Enormous fun to watch this video. Remarkable shooting as well. I shoot the 405 and 515gr HRBC bullets in my Sharps. I start the day with a quick sight in at 100m, and then make further adjustments from there with the tang Creedmoor sight. One thing I notice is a considerable spin drift to the right as distance increases. It will be interesting to see if your experience is the same. The Buffington sight on the ~1880 Springfields was designed to compensate for this phenomenon. Look forward to your next effort.
Thanks Man, Cheers
Great content thanks for sharing

I’m disappointed it wasn’t longer. Nice shooting off hand Mark. That’s a beautiful rifle you have there.

That is some pretty dang good shooting for off hand shooting with those sights. Once you get a tang sight with a peep and maybe globe or some other finer front sight you'll be set. Check out the lyman 17a front sight and the lee shaver insert set.
Thanks Man, glad you liked, Cheers
Nice shooting.

cheers Nathan, thanks
One of these days, I'll have me one of these!!!
Cheers
OK, Mr. Quigley! Sorry Mark but, I think I heard you say something about Hollywood and the bucket shot in a recent video, didn't I? I was thinking at the time you made that statement you didn't remember that they film many takes of the same scene and use the best one in post production. Now, if that had been a bucket out there, it wouldn't have taken many takes...You baffle me man. My jaw dropped so much with that one, my chin hit my toes!
Lol, thanks Craig, glad you liked, and FYI, the movie shot was just that, a movie shot, probably lots of takes as well as timed shapes charges and with multiple camera angles....lol, Cheers
@@markandsamafterwork If they would have had you there to take the shot, then they wouldn't have had to fake it.
Nice shooting.
cheers
