How Many Miles Will One Gallon Of Gas Take You On A Solo Skiff!? | 6HP Suzuki Outboard

  • We did a little experiment with the Solo Skiff today. The outboards sips gas and we were able to travel a LONG ways on one gallon of gas. I use Ethanol free gasoline and I forgot to mention that in the video. Sorry. Anyways I hope this video answers some questions on gas mileage! With the internal tank full and one gallon of gas you can travel over 30 miles which is insane! I hope y'all enjoyed this type of video. I plan on posting a first impressions video on the Solo Skiff soon.

      Also... definitely a good idea to keep using ethanol free gas, I use it in my cars too! Makes a huge difference

    Great video. Very informative. I had been wondering about gas mileage. I have a Tohatsu 6HP so, results should be pretty similar. With full 3.5 external and a full internal, at moderate speeds... should get over 100 miles! Amazing. Really appreciate your effort in doing the video.

    • @StixHD

      Appreciate it! Here's a rough estimate of how much I've spent on it:
      Skiff: $2000
      6HP Suzuki: $1500
      Tags and Title: $200
      Accessories: $300
      Total: $4000
      A lot of the accessories I already had since I owned a kayak previously (paddle, push pole, rod holders). All I had to buy were the H-rail and H-rail accessories, track mounts for the rod holders, and a stake out stick. It's great value for the price. I had always wanted a peddle drive kayak but they are so expensive nowadays. I figured if I spent an extra grand I could get the skiff and open up way more water but still go in skinny water. It drafts in about 3"-4"

      @@StixHD Total = same money for just a Bote Rover (no motor). I am really leaning towards getting one of these because my Bote Rover has turned brown and the fake wood decals are delaminating from leaving it under one of those carports. I paid $3500 for that thing and used it twice, I am very disappointed. I checked one of these out and they seem much more durable.

    • @StixHD
      @StixHD  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@rmpbrown01 yeah Rover is way more expensive. Also solo skiff switched manufacturing companies and they were hit with a price increase. I believe they are around $2,500 now for the skiff only.

    There's a guy in Houston who makes custom carbon tiller extensions. He built mine and is pretty reasonable on price. Shoot me a message if you want his info, the extension on my skiff was a game changer for weight distribution and ease of driving.

    Hey bro awsome vid."Question" Was that a freshwater lake? Or were you in a big bay. I just set up my jonny bass boat, with a 2.6 Suzuki outboard. My boat is faster on fresh water, slower on saltwater. I only weigh 140 lbs. I usually take about 3 gallons of fuel with me. Just wondering if 2 different types of water makes a speed difference..🙏 God bless be safe bro..

    • @StixHD
      @StixHD  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm not sure honestly I don't think it would make a difference. Maybe if you are going against the tide it would be slower. I was in a saltwater river... kinda confusing I know. lol The river normally doesn't have any flow and is affected very minimal by the tides. 3 gallons is a lot of fuel. The smaller outboards are pretty efficient on gas. Not sure how far you plan on going but I'm sure 1 gallon can last you most of the day.

      @@StixHD well I bring one container. Some days I just like to cruise around. Check out some camp sites, or explore more of the lake. It's 780 acres of water. And this is my 1st boat and the 2.6 is awsome. Love the jonny bass boat. Be safe bro thanks..

      Saltwater is denser than freshwater, therefore increases drag on the vessel.
