Legislature rooms for example expect hats off. A couple years ago I was required, and happily willing, to take my hat off... uh... but these days they just hope for no mobs
I just looked up how the other villains work and a lot of them have really interesting mechanics. My two favourites right now are Ratigan, who has one shot at completing his main objective and goes feral and switches to "Defeat Basil" if it fails, and Yzma, who has to defeat Cuzco with Kronk... the catch is that Kronk is prone to switching sides. The videogame fan in me can seriously imagine a Master Xehanort expansion. His goal is convoluted enough to be an objective in a game like this. It would be something like: "Have 13 Strength worth of Allies and 13 Strength worth of Heroes at the Keyblade Graveyard, then play Kingdom Hearts." Alternatively, he works like Ratigan in that if something goes wrong with his main goal, he splits into Ansem and Xemnas, who each have their own goals. (Ansem would be "have all locations fall to darkness", Xemnas would be "control 13 vessels")
My favorite part about this game is how quick it can get you into character. @@justintime41776 Also, you don't have to worry what everyone else is doing. You just need to focus on your own little rule set, and if someone else seems excited you throw a bomb at them.
I promise you this game is so much fun and very easy to figure out the general concepts. It’s a lot of fun to figure out each character and strategize and make different combinations. My husband and I spent hours and hours playing this game for months and we’re still not bored.
Game the Game with Becca Scott did this game, with Matt & Marisha, Mica Burton, and B. Dave Walters. That video made it easier to see how the game worked, with some larger clearer graphics of the cards and boards, and some discussion of the mechanics. (And making fewer rules mistakes than this, where it might be hard to figure out the rules because they're not always following them.)
My favorite episode to date. God, these guys are such fun folks, and they played with such a combination of positivity and strategic cunning. Brilliant!
I would spend so much money for Sam Riegel to voice over the live-action Lion King and narrate it like David Attenborough with occasional improv lines of what he thinks the characters would say.
Didn’t Sam need to *start* his turn with 3 titans in mount olympus? There would have been a whole extra round for shenanigans that may have drastically impacted the outcome
@J. Gess But why would anyone let Sam win? If they just wanted to "be done with it", Tal and Ash could at least decided to 2 vs 1 against Sam, no? One of them mess with Sam exclusively while the other focus on winning for exemple! I know that's what I would do if I were Tal or Ash! ^_^ lol
His ice titan also should have been trapped when it moved onto Zeus, as Zeus hadn't been vanquished yet. And Taliesin technically shouldn't have been able to kill Mufasa, since Simba was out nerfing his hyenas. But, as the chatbot command says, pobody's nerfect! They all had a really fun time playing the game, which is way more important than getting everything 100% rules lawyered correct, hahaha.
I dont own the game but I'd call shenanigans if the Olympus card has move ALLY or item which he abused the last 5 turns . Unless he thinks the titans are items?
@@MewsSister But I think at one point he read the rules which said that you can actually use that action to move titans. Let me check real quick. Yes, he can. 1:03:35 "You may move a Titan using the move action" How else could he have moved them when moving the Titans is an essential part of Hades' strategy ?
50:16 -- shouldn't hydros of been trapped before zeus got taken out. because the card effect still goes through. you just resolve the effects in order....? or is that based on the house rule?
I would love to see a fan created one shot. Do a poll/survey to determine everything from location to mission (etc). Have those people who answer attach there current character sheet for the players to do; random draw for the selection process. I'd love to see Matt do Japer Beau's voice. The winners could get the mini's used in battle.
I love villainous. Bought on a whim last year for my family for xmas, and we've been addicted ever since, owning each xpac including the Marvel one which adds new mechanics, gameplay, and meta. 10/10 would recommend
1:04:00 Titans are a unique card type exclusiv to Hades, they are not allies. They are just like curses of Maleficent. Which means they cant be removed or influenced by any card that targets allies. It should be better specified in the rule book tho, but good you looked into it!
dang I was really hoping one of them would play as Ratigan, he's got a really cool 'double objective' mechanic and I was super curious to see it in action... now hoping for another video of this game with a different rotation of players and characters!
I don't know which crew member is in charge of picking the background music, but they did an excellent job. Y'all can put Holst anywhere you want, and I'll enjoy it.
I’m an intermediate/casual board gamer with all these expansions. For those interested, this is a really neat game, and it is one of the most beautiful in terms of art and components. The way each villain plays differently is well implemented, and particularly with the expansion villains, ingeniously designed in terms of theme. It is easy to learn but surprisingly deep the more you learn about it. Every villain has their own pace and plan, and understanding what your opponent needs to do is key to thwarting their efforts. Stopping Prince John is completely different from stopping Maleficent or Dr Facilier. However keep in mind it has a very aggressive, “take that” kind of play cadence, which may not sit well with kids or certain adult players. Also balance between the villains is questionable. Many a carefully planned endgame will be foiled by the other players teaming up on you, and while this is thematic, some villains recover far better than others. Hades, Scar and poor poor Úrsula are significantly harder to play than Queen Of Hearts, Dr Facilier or Ratigan. Also a new expansion is due in March with Cruella, Steamboat Pete and Mother Gothel!
Wasn’t Sam only supposed to win when he st”started” his turn with the titans on his goal? Technically he should win next turn which gives the others a chance to maybe move back one of his titans again
Well, he also got a few extra card plays when he shouldn't have, and at least one Titan that should have been trapped but wasn't (when he moved on Zeus).
at around 26:17 Ashley plays dragon form but doesn't pay the cost for it until later, but she was supposed to take 3 power at the beginning of her turn, so she basically could have played another card, but didn't because she forgot to take power
My picks for next expansion: 1.Cruella De Vil(Color:White), needs to amass 101 'puppy points' on the board and her cards are all about defending and regaining them once they've been lost or discarded, get a total of a certain numbers of puppy points at her manor, something like that. 2. Clayton(Color: Yellow), his goal is to kill Tarzan and then have all the gorilla cards in his hand(Or if they are fate, to have them all on the board after Tarzan has been killed, or some variation of that. Similar to Scar but he doesn't need to KILL them, just have them and use his tools to overcome the fates the other players throw at him to keep them). His cards are all about drawing as much as possible and killing heroes, amassing all the tools he needs to round up the gorillas(Traps and guns, etc) 3. The Horned King (Color: Dark Red), Throwing this guy in for shits and giggles since the original game has Prince John of all characters to put in the game. His goal is to draw the cards to summon Taran and allies as his fate cards and once they are all summoned, The Horned King may move to the Black Cauldron. He must keep it on the board for a certain number of turns(say 3,)/start the turn with his character at the cauldron unimpeded by any interlopers(aka fate cards), using his cauldron-born to defend it. The Horned King is sent all the way back to the start of the board if Gurgi is played from the fate deck and used at the Cauldron and buffed to be stronger than the cauldron-born the king is using to defend the cauldron, destroying The Horned King. Being a lich, this does not permanently kill him and he can use 5 tokens to reform himself at the opposite side of his board, and if he makes it back to the cauldron(He no longer needs to summon the protagonists) he just needs to get there and place an Ally on it along with himself, and he wins. Wouldn't be an easy character to play but it sounds fun to me. What do yall think?
My favorite part of this is everyone badly imitating their villains.
Sam: Pirate Hades
Ashley: Irish Maleficent
Taliesin: Drunk Scar
Ashley Johnson: "I build fireplaces from scratch."
Matt and Marisha: "How hard could using a fireplace be?"
Ashley and Tal, two of the most magnificently metal people
Sam. One of the most magnificent and most non-metal people

This is one of my favorite games so i'm so pleased to see these derps play XD
It seems complex.
It is, but if you want to start with a small group I find Prince John, Maleficent, and Captain Hook are the easiest to learn with
@@justintime41776 Also, you don't have to worry what everyone else is doing.
To make Ashley feel better I always did rock, paper, scissors, shoot and you reveal on shoot.
"GOD DAMNIT!" - Disney, 2019 ;D
No idea how this game is played, but the table banter is hilarious!!!
49:20 That titan should have been trapped when it moved to the location with Zues before Zues was defeated...
He also fare at 41:00 with the chariot, the cart specifically say that is the only thing u cannot do
At 8:58, the move of an ally was illegal, an item or ally can only move to an adjacent location of the realm!
My favorite episode to date. God, these guys are such fun folks, and they played with such a combination of positivity and strategic cunning. Brilliant!
My wife and I love this game I can't believe I've only just found CR playing it now!
"17 EMAILS!!" and they're all from Dani Carr
If someone who didn't know asked me "what's critical role?" My answer would be simple: "a group of people who make me happy"
Fun fact: Madge Sinclair (who played Sarabi in The Lion King) also played James Earl Jones's wife in Coming to America.
Male-efficient
I REALLY hope they do more board games from time to time. Reminds me just a smidge of Tabletop.
I was just thinking this
1:03:35 "You may move a Titan using the move action"
How else could he have moved them when moving the Titans is an essential part of Hades' strategy ?
lol, the moment Sam pulled that charriot card at the end his smile never left his face xD
50:16 -- shouldn't hydros of been trapped before zeus got taken out. because the card effect still goes through. you just resolve the effects in order....? or is that based on the house rule?
He should. :)
Gotta love the Holst in the background. Venus, I believe.
Ashley, don't worry about the hat, no one can read the cards unless they have a 7ft TV. lol
"I love that the cauldron is a spooky mountain thing."
Yeah, because that's where Satan pops out in Fantasia.

I would love to see a fan created one shot. Do a poll/survey to determine everything from location to mission (etc). Have those people who answer attach there current character sheet for the players to do; random draw for the selection process. I'd love to see Matt do Japer Beau's voice. The winners could get the mini's used in battle.
It's been a hot minute since the last Fireside Chat...
It would have been funny if they pointed out that Sam didn't win after his celebration.
No need to, Talison will just have a talk with Sam's Patron he's gonna get his powers suspended for this one.😈
Oh no they had 1 more turn!.
Hades has to "start your turn with 3 titans in Mt Olympus"
I've played villainous since it was released and I own both expansions and it is by far one of my favorite board games
Oh wow! Disney's Villainous with Sam, Ashley, and an actual Disney Villain! (love you Taliesin lol)
Sam: Is an emmy award winning voice director for Disney.
Also Sam: Who is Phil?!
He also had no idea what Hades sounds like.
More Ashley please.
I don't know which crew member is in charge of picking the background music, but they did an excellent job. Y'all can put Holst anywhere you want, and I'll enjoy it.
wasn't expecting to hear Holst behind them playing this game I love it Venus is with us
I'm a simple man, I see Ashley on a video and I click Like
I’m an intermediate/casual board gamer with all these expansions.
I would love to see more of this game! You guys should make a series out of this one!
Maverick is one of my favourite movies, I laugh myself silly every time I watch it.
And fun fact: it's written by the same guy as The Princess Bride!
Scanlan at his best pulling the long con
These table shenanigans bring me so much joy. 💖✨I love these fucking nerds.
I have Maverick. Really fun to go back to every once and a while. Love the opening bit.
at around 26:17 Ashley plays dragon form but doesn't pay the cost for it until later, but she was supposed to take 3 power at the beginning of her turn, so she basically could have played another card, but didn't because she forgot to take power
My picks for next expansion:
1.Cruella De Vil(Color:White), needs to amass 101 'puppy points' on the board and her cards are all about defending and regaining them once they've been lost or discarded, get a total of a certain numbers of puppy points at her manor, something like that.
His cards are all about drawing as much as possible and killing heroes, amassing all the tools he needs to round up the gorillas(Traps and guns, etc)
When he started singing "ill be in your heart" first thing my head was Clayton as a new villain. i wanna see it happen, the tarzan movie was awesome!
