    I LOVE discs. I do a kegel when I insert to make sure it's secure. Works really well for me. You also need to bear down when removing to get the disc more within reach.

    I love discs. Thanks to you I tried the Cora and the Luma and never looked back. Prior I had been using cups since 2016, but for me discs are much better, much more comfortable and an easier experience in general. I love auto-dumping, I feel like I need to worry less. For me the Cora rotates slightly to the right, but I always find the removal grip. I prefer it over the LUMA because I can't stand the sticky/tacky texture.

    I had the WORST experience with the Salt disc. It got stuck just like what happened to you and this was my very first time using a period product other than a tampon. I was terrified and my husband had to help get it out. Lots of digging and tugging. I’ve since moved on to the Hello disc and fell in love with it!

      you already found a solution that works for you but if anyone finds themselves in this situation, what you want to do is bear down with your vaginal muscles while holding the notch with your finger. if you dont know how to do that pretend like you have a poop that you need to push out lol

      SAME it was a mistake to get for my first my mom had to yank it out of me and it definitely made her more unsupportive of reusable sustainable period products 😢 I got the saalt cup and prefer it. Will give the disc a try again when I am ready…

    I LOVE THE SAALT DISC!! I bought the regular. It is amazing! I can utilize this cup throughout my menstrual cycle. On my heaviest days which is 1-2 days. I empty it every four hours even on day 3. Day 4-5 is the longest day I can wear it. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE IT!

    I don’t think this whole size = cervix height thing that Lumma came up with is true. I have a high cervix but I wear the smallest size discs. Even the Lumma medium is too big for me. I feel like it would be a lot more related to the anatomical distance between tailbone and pubic symphysis, which I would suspect is much more correlated with body frame size. I have a very small frame so it would make sense for me.

    • @blackmber
      @blackmber 2 ปีที่แล้ว +19

      Yeah, it didn't line up the way for me either. I often can't reach my cervix with a finger, but the 72mm disc I tried was much too big and gave me cramps and bladder pressure. I also have a small frame and I'm thinking I need a disc smaller than 60mm

      Yessss!! It's so frustrating that these companies don't get that. I went through so many thinking I didn't know how to use them. My cervix is always high, and the small lumma is the only one that works for me. Now I have a lot of regular size ones that I can not use. I see so many ple saying their disc's keep popping out, and they can't figure out why. It's crazy that products made for women by women don't have this figured out and the info is not easily available.

    • @neanea228
      @neanea228 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@qckr4yait could just be some people that it fits like this for, as the sizing usually tends to work for most. Although, it probably is different with discs. I say, no matter any recommendation, to always go for the recommended size first, but try the other sizes just in case too. If the size regular didn’t work for you, then it doesn’t work, try the smaller ones! If the regular doesn’t work for others, and they feel they needed a bigger one then use a bigger one! Everyone has different bodies so sizing recommendations will NEVER be perfect for anybody. I understand your struggle, although I do question why you’d question to buy regular sized discs if they usually are all about the same size. (I really hope I don’t come across as rude! I don’t mean to be!) 🖤🖤

    Tried the Saalt disc in regular for the first time this last cycle and it was uncomfortable at first but I got used to it. I found that it did rotate the longer I had it in. It was also hard to get out since I couldn't reach the notch due to the rotation. But bearing down helped. The first time I used it which was overnight during a heavy flow I soaked my pantyliner. But by three third time, I found no leakage which was kind of amazing to experience.

    I use a Cora and love it bc it is so much easier to use than a cup for my anatomy (2 kids, high cervix, rectocele/cystocele). I got the Saalt regular and I like it but do find I have to bear down more than w the Cora to maneuver the rim behind my tissue/pelvic bone when placing it. It’s also a lot softer than Cora which I think (coupled w the wider notch), makes it more challenging to insert (folds on itself). Still a great product.

    • @lynnica5219
      @lynnica5219 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I used the Saalt a couple days in my last cycle and I also noticed it collapsed on itself when I put it in. Did you figure out how to get it not to do that? Or did you just go back to your other disc? You said the Cora is a lot firmer?

    I’ve been using cups for years and in a emergency situation had to buy some single use discs and surprisingly loved them. I decided to buy the luma disc for my lighter days, I got both sizes, and they will not stay tucked. It’s almost like they’re not firm enough around the rim. There was no learning curve with the single use ones so I was shocked I couldn’t get the reusable ones to work. Maybe I’ll try the saalt disc.

    Flex resusable disc?! I need this in my life!!! I love my cora and lumma discs, but the Flex disposable discs have always been my best fit, I just didn't want to waste so much....but a reusable option?!?! NEED!

    • @kee-tu4cq
      @kee-tu4cq 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I just preordered the Reusable Flex disc (due to ship end of March). I’m hoping it’s identical to Flex disposable but made of reusable quality. I’ve gone through almost all the reusable disc brands and haven’t found any that fits near as good as flex does for me. I also find I hate all the notches, makes it a lot harder to push into place and behind pubic bone (as well as makes it harder to remove).

  • @penelope-oe2vr
    @penelope-oe2vr 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    10 years ago, I switched to re washable cloth pads, and the soft cup, disposable cups. Which - I am now seeing....are a disk, basically. Except the spft cups is an old brand name for a individually wrapped, disposable cups. You can also rewash and re-use as well for a bit but not more than 1 cycle.

    I had the same removal problem with the Cora Disc and it was my 1st time using a disc!!!!! Total panic as I was not able to remove it. Actually you saved me because I googled it and it took me to your website where you talk about troubleshooting. So, with the Cora, it also rotated inside of me…I had to find the hook thing for the finger…and then squat and push out to get the Cora out. So disappointed. Thanks for this review because I don’t think the Saalt one is for me.
    Messy removal is not a problem for me…I just don’t want any leaks - which happens with the Cora for me - and I don’t want to have a hard time removing it.
    I also tried Lumma - no good.
    The only 1 of the 3 that has worked so far is the Softdisc (disposable). I haven’t tried to remove it yet, so hopefully it won’t be hard!
    I don’t auto-dump….but I wish I did.

  • @TheTNTian
    @TheTNTian 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Saalt disc (both the pink and blue sizes) scare me because it gets stuck behind my pubic bone and the tab is not usable due to slipperiness at times. I didn't want to keep on straining my pelvic floor to get the disc lower to hook the rim, so I tried the Lumma disc.
    The Lumma disc string works wonders and I only have to feel around to get the string instead of straining my pelvic floor to grab the rim. It does leak because my flow is heavy though. The medium Lumma fits, but seems small for me, but the high Lumma keeps popping out so cant use it. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Can't have everything. 😂

  • @missteach8711
    @missteach8711 2 ปีที่แล้ว +10

    The auto dumping thing sounds amazing to me - I have a heavy flow and mostly work 12 hr shifts so it isn't very easy to empty my cup at work - but I'm slightly confused. How does the dumping happen? Does the cup come untucked from the pelvic bone?

    • @kee-tu4cq
      @kee-tu4cq 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      I love that my disc auto-dumps. For me personally it does it each time I use the bathroom. It does it a little by itself but I like to help it by pushing a little almost like doing an opposite kegel lol! It pushes it to the opening of my vagina but not out. It dumps a little (sometimes a lot on my heaviest days) then I push it all the way back in and up behind pubic bone. Then I wipe all the way back as sometimes the auto dump will get on you externally. I wear it with period underwear but have only ever leaked twice. It’s a learning curve at first but you see what ways works out well for you. Sometimes I use a plastic glove to change it and turn it inside out so it’s easy to toss.

    I've been meaning to get a disc and when I saw Saalt made one, I was like oh, okay, why not get this one since I have a Saalt cup! I got the bigger cup as I estimated my cervix was higher than not, but I do get a little bloaty during my period and sometimes having a cup in me was uncomfortable in a way I couldn't describe. So this time, I decided to get a smaller size when I got the disc lmao. We'll see if I made a good decision with that lol I haven't had the chance to use it yet. I got confused with the removal instructions, however, which is how I ended up on this video. It does sound...a bit scary lmao but as with cups, just gotta get familiar with it and practice, huh?

    So excited for these new discs!! The notch is a bit of a issue but I do see why they are creating them with it. When I hook my finger under the rim and pull, it's as if I'm "locking it" more into place. I think it has to do with have a tilted uterus and the public bone. So I put my finger inside and pull down. Do you think this is possible with the notch??

I tried a cup 2 times (several years ago) and it was painful and extremely difficult so I was looking into discs specifically for ease of removal... is the sizing only based on cervix height? I had issues with the Saalt disc and I think it was the firmness of the rim, or rather, lack of firmness. The only other disc I've used is the Softdisc, which of course has a very firm rim. I used the Saalt disc for a couple days in the middle of my last cycle and I had a hard time inserting it, it seemed to collapse while I was trying to put it in. I'll probably try again with my next cycle. Do you - or any viewers - have any suggestions? Do you think the Flex reusable would be better for me?

      I just completely fell in love with the flex disposable today so I went and bought the reusable one to see if I like it. I will keep you posted. FYI..I think the Flex reusable is more firm than the Saalt so that might help you.

      I also had an issue with the saalt disc on the first go of trying it out have yet to try it again next period. I have a hard time getting it in as the notch seems to keep it from being folded and it's annoying as it works against you. I also noticed that it seemed bunched up inside of me just haven't figured out how I can make it sit better. I have used the disposable softdisc many times and never had an issue like that, I'm also thinking maybe I'm not used to the softer rim of the saalt disc? I didn't trust it enough to leave it in for long periods of time as it also seemed to not want to stay tucked unlike the disposable softdisc

      @@lindseyherklotz7891 that sounds pretty much like my first experience with the Saalt. I tried it again the next month (not being quite willing to give up and spend money on the flex yet) and it worked much better that time. I feel like it just took me a little while to get the hang of it. I can't really tell you what I did differently, but it did work better. It holds more than the disposable discs too - on my heavy days I still had to wear a pad with the disposables, but this one hardly leaked at all! So I was glad of that.
      Anyway, maybe if you try it again you'll figure it out. On the other hand the flex reusable does seem like a good product (especially with the notch to make it fold easier, that seems like it would be convenient), so maybe just go with that one. Sorry I can't be more helpful but I hope you figure out something that works for you!

      My first disk was the flex reusable and it is very firm. Insertion was super easy as well as removal bc of the firmness. It also has an indention so it folds slim and stays that way. I felt it too firm and maybe too wide to be comfortable however. I just got done with the salt regular. The firmness and width was more comfortable for me but I had trouble keeping it folded during insertion, the notch kept going to the side of the fold and I feel that’s what my issue was. Was only the 2nd period using a disc and I had to use me finger to push it back under my cervix and then it felt very comfortable. It did rotate. I’m still on the search for the right disk. Smaller around 65mm, medium firmness and stays foldable. I bought some off Amazon she doesn’t have reviews on or listed in her comparison chart. Good luck!

    Hey! Just recieved my small saalt cup just in time for my period! I love it so far but I had a question. I have a low cervix during my period and I do have a very strong pelvic floor even though I've had kiddos naturally. So I got the small size to try a disc for the first time.
    I'm having some issues with insertion. I feel like I can't quite hold it folded and get it in at the same time so it ends up just kind of smooshing in there. Lol. I do have a significant bit of g-spot tissue, I'm assuming, right against my pelvic bone so its been harder for me to get the disc actually tucked because that spongy tissue is in the way and my pelvic floor muscles aren't giving it any room to kind of maneuver it. Do you have any advice for me on how I can more easily get it in place?

    Life. Changing.
    Never a pad fan, and I've gotten really tired of tampons... I tried the flex disc (after mocking the idea......) and wow. Don't knock it till you try it, seriously. As long as you're comfortable, of course. But I can honestly say I cannot wear tampons the same anymore. The idea of squeezing a disc was intimidating to me and I tried it because the idea was so crazy, I had to see for myself! But it was the best 12 hours. Cramping seemed to be better, no cotton to dry things up, and it's so COMFORTABLE! After insertion, of course.
    I loved flex, but I couldn't help but feel guilt for having to buy a new pack every week and use so much product... then goodness gracious, I found a reusable disc. It doesn't feel like I'm even wearing a period product!
    The worst part of my week was always toward the end, I would get so uncomfortable irritated. Tampons would make everything so dry and irritated, it would be itchy sometimes and overall just a pain of a process. The disc is so awesome for maintaining more a natural state while still collecting blood and keeping things under control. I recommend all of my friends try discs at this point!

    I want to say thank you for reviewing these products! Before my birth control method of an IUD, I had such terrible menstrual cycles because of my endo. I used tampons majority of my cycles then I saw the Soft Disc's at Walgreens so I decided to try them since having tampons usually caused more dryness and cramping for me. I loooved the disc especially since they lasted for 12hrs or at least a full 10hr shift at work! Now after having my IUD for 3 years I'm thinking of TTC, I removed my IUD 3 weeks ago...got my first period and tried using tampons which was a terrible experience again so I went back and bought the disposable discs, when TH-cam read my mind and suggested a video from you! Because of you I purchased my first reusable menstrual product, the Lumma Unique disc! I bought a large and medium since I've been told I had a high cervix but I've never felt like my cycle was something positive until now! Glad to be apart of saving the planet from more waste as well as trying new products that are better for myself and my whoo-ha!! 🥳🥳

I did experience the turning of the disc but it felt very natural to me to kind of push it down with my muscles before I tucked my finger behind the rim. I just bought the Saalt disc to carry in my purse as a back up to my Hello disc for period surprises. This is my first period to use it with, it does rotate it has a larger capacity than my Hello. On my heavy days I usually have to dump 1-2 times during the night and it will overflow., but the Saalt disc seems to allow me to sleep all night. It is more difficult to remove than the Hello disc, but I can flex my pelvic muscles and bring it down for easier removal. I have yet to figure out how to have a mess free removal on my heavy days and hoping the larger capacity will help.

    Saalt disc was actually the first cup/disc product I ever used! I bought a flex cup a while back because they sold it at target, and I just could not fit it in at all. It came with two free disposable menstrual discs, so I tried them and I found them way easier to insert. After that I bought the saalt disc and have basically been using it ever since.
    Ive had most of the same issues you described in this video with my disc. Honestly I can’t even pinch it when I remove it, I have to wedge my finger between my public bone and the lip of the disc and hook into it from above in order to take it out, so its usually quite messy. I also have had issues with autodumping small amounts when not on the toilet, so I usually wear it with reusable pads or period underwear as a safeguard.
    I’d always had issues with a burning sensation after insertion, an issue I always had with tampons, and was why I pretty much never used them. I also felt pressure on my colon whenever I’d remove them, like I was about to take a dump. But the other day I decided to try insertion with KY jelly and realized wow, don’t hate till you try. Just slid right in. No pain at all. I also don’t remember the similar “pooping” sensation I usually get. I was able to insert my flex disc with very little hassle with KY jelly too. And thus, I return to your channel to make sure I have it inserted right 😅

    thank you so much for clarifying the size issue. part of my experience for shopping for cups is never finding the right size. i have 3 kids but they were all c section babies. so cups were either too big for me causing pressure or not opening up or too small where the cup would work its way out or sideways inside. i also have a tilted cervix. i couldn't win. i even tried fabric pads and i would just bleed over them into my underwear or they'd bunch up, no matter what brand i bought. I felt at a loss, as i really didnt wanna use disposable products full of chemicals and chlorine. In learning abt the discs, the discs had me worried on the sizes for saalt . i agree the sizing is confusing for consumersi thought i would need the small one because of the issues i just addressed, but you made me feel more comfortable with purchasing the regular size. i really appreciate you. thank you so much.
