  • In our final video from behind the scenes of Ghostbusters: Afterlife's production, Adam visits the practical special effects department to watch the crew rig up and test the deployment of almost two hundred ghost traps for the film's epic finale. Special effects supervisor Elia Popov shows us how his team modified and synced up these traps to activate all at once in spectacular fashion!

My favourite part of this is “How could production afford to make 200 ghost traps?”
CGI used to be expensive; it’s crazy that we’ve reached a point where it’s the cheaper option.

    • @moseszero3281
      @moseszero3281 2 ปีที่แล้ว

even long ago the one thing cgi has always been good at is doing multiple of an object. It works really well for changes. If you want to change the light on all of them from red to blue just change a setting on the parent object and all of them change.

The Gospel, which means the Good News is the news that God Almighty, the Creator came in the flesh as Jesus Christ to take away the sin of the world. The one God is a trinity of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. The Son came and laid down his own life to save ours. His sacrifice on the cross paid the price for our redemption with his own blood. On the third day he rose from dead and offers the gift of salvation and forgiveness to those that repent and trust in him.
      John 1:1,14 KJV
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and THE WORD WAS GOD. [14] And THE WORD WAS MADE FLESH, and dwelt among us,
      1 John 3:8 KJV
He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.
      Isaiah 9:6 KJV
For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty GOD, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
      John 1:10
He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and THE WORLD KNEW HIM NOT.
      John 3:18 KJV
He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

That was a nice touch, I agree. Visual effects - be they practical or digital - should tell their own story that supports and reinforces the main story, kind of like mini stories within the overarching narrative. The traps opening in sequence tells the mini-story that they use an incredibly large amount of energy to activate and open, so Egon had to program them to open in sequence in order to prevent an immediate overload of the power source while them closing simultaneously indicates whatever they're supposed to be containing could escape if one or more traps don't close in time.

It is so cool that Adam has so much of an appreciation for the details of what goes into doing something "right". I think that is why he gets invited to visit so many places that most of us can only dream about. Keep it up Adam and KUDOS to you.

I watched this movie the other day and it really restored my faith in the franchise.
The effects were practical but also so refined!

I started seeing this video, and then hear "used for the films finale", stopped the video, went and watch the movie, and then back to the video XD

CGI Can be fun and bring some really cool things to life...but practical is where it is at!

I’ve been re watching Ghostbusters Afterlife ever since I bought the film on 4K Blu Ray after seeing it in theaters twice. Everything in the film is pure genius. I absolutely loved it. lol

Never saw the third movie made because it looked extremely dumb and felt like it would ruin them all for me.
Watched the new one recently and it was awesome 👌 the cgi for egon was fuckin perfect

@@r1w3d Technically Ghostbusters 2016 was in its own universe. So it’s not even the third movie. I saw it when it was free on Starz. Put me to sleep twice. I absolutely loved Ghostbusters Afterlife. Lol

@@ViperChief117 The fact that the director sought out the same CGI company that did the young Rachel in blade runner 2049 which looked phenomenal to recreate older Egon was amazing and seeing it felt like it was really him. Them using as many practical effects as practically possible topped it off with a great story line.

I have seen the movie... Absolutely love the effects and how good the movie is / how good the effects are. The fact that they are practical effects makes a difference. A BIG difference.

One of the best things about the movie Chicago, was that most all of the stage effects were practical, using old school stage effects or mechanical props.

I have to wonder if the scene with the truck didn't turn out like they'd hoped. The scene in the movie isn't what he is describing at all. The only hit that we actually see is a half-second close-up that looks like a CGI insert.
