    My favorite character is Mace Windu.
    He’s such a unique character! If you read the legends books that feature his POV you find that he’s one of the most introspective, intuitive, passionate and compassionate Jedi.
    I love that his invention of Vaapad was to ultimately stop himself from turning to the dark side and through that effort became one of the light side’s greatest champions. Plus his self control and determination I think are admirable. The books also humanize him. Under the stony exterior he struggles with self doubt and regrets but learns to overcome them and become a greater person. Plus the writers always go out of their way to show off how bad ass he really is.

    I really like how Vader specifically says that he took out the Jedi because he saw them as standing in the way of what he wanted. It makes the scene where he kills Mace even more powerful because that is the literal representation of the Jedi standing in the way, and him having to make the choice between the Jedi represented by Mace, and the only way he sees of accomplishing his goals and saving his wife, which is unfortunately Palpatine. I like that he points out that he never had a loyalty to the Sith that extended beyond his loyalty to Padme. I'd love to read this book sometime, it sounds like Luceno really has a good understanding of the character of Darth Vader.

He did serve the empire but he wasn't evil in the way most imperials were, he first got into the service of the empire because he believed the empire was the best chance to help defend his people the chiss people from a threat in the unknown regions. He treated the people under his command with respect and many under his command was immensely loyal to him because of that. He was a good hand to hand fighter as well. He rarely lost battles with his superior strategic intellect, he understood his adversies in ways that went over most people's heads. He's one of the best characters that has so much more depth to him most people don't realize he has

      Tbh placing is son before himself is what he thought he was doing with padme to begin with but in the end doing this technically is still selfish. He still killed children before he was a slave to the Emperor truly and murdered mand jedi. However I'm willing to concede what he did as a slave to the Emperor after that point of Mustafar, the truly just thing to do would be to kill himself, but if he did the Emperor would just find a new apprentice. So vader continued until he could find any kind of influence that could turn the tide between himself and the Emperor, and luke was it. So does giving luke what he wants even though that is good in his eyes actually redeem him. That may be the point in most people's eyes for return of the jedi but for me it's the attempt that luke makes that's the point. If you get down to brass taxes a sith could be a force ghost if that information was divulged to another sith or former jedi.

    • @Hardunkenchud
      @Hardunkenchud ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @Calibur but if he had asked padme before the mace windu fight she wouldn't agree with intervening, I don't think. Especially if he told her of the dreams in full. So what theory is saying is that he selfishly chose for padme what was best for her. His thoughts of what was best for her was delusional and forced him to make very poor decisions in what he believed to be her favor.

    You and Dave Filoni always make such beautiful analysis about the prequels of facts that are often overlooked.
    It's easy to get distracted with the prequel's "sometimes" sketchy dialogue, over-use of CGI etc. But at the same time there's this amazing harmony in the details of its story. Once you see this, it does make the prequels a lot better than on first sight.
    Also part of why I started to appreciate the prequels so much more after Disney's sequels came out, realized that Star Wars has become a shallow, meaningless fastfood franchise.

    • @masterexploder9668
      @masterexploder9668 ปีที่แล้ว

      Prequels have a strong story underneath the clunky meme dialogue and amazing worldbuilding. They also actually had plenty of practical effects, not just CGI spam as it appears to be. When you are a kid, you are mainly interested in ships, blasters and lightsabers, but later on you can actually appreciate some more nuances themes.

    I love hearing insights from that novel, both from Vader and Obi Wan. You pointed out something that I've been thinking about a lot recently, and it is that Anakin's decision making on the night he sided with Sidious was purely selfish. It's one thing to sacrifice yourself for someone you love, but he sacrificed thousands of people for a false hope. On top of that, he realized that the Jedi would also be a hindrance to his goal of being a galactic dictator, so they had to be eliminated. Selfishness compounded on selfishness.
    One thing I will disagree with is that Anakin was a slave to the Jedi. From my understanding, as a Jedi, you could leave at any time, no one was kept there against their will. Anakin even thought about leaving in RotS, and it was only his fear of Padme dying and him finding out information from the Jedi that kept him there.
    For favorite characters, Obi Wan wins hands down. He experienced so much suffering in his life, the loss of his Master, the Clone Wars, losing Satine, losing Anakin, losing the Jedi, but he never faltered in his dedication to the light. He had flaws sure, because he was human, but he always strove to do the right thing.

    however the character that i connect with the most is obi wan. he has to work way harder to achieve what others have as their innate power and in the end he is never tempted to use that power for evil but rather in defense of what he perceives as good. that is why he is a defensive fighter. a true champion of the light forged from the most humble beginnings with no special powers, and yet in the end he is the last man standing in defense of it !

    I really want Disney to do a What if for Star Wars so that we can see a canonical version of Qui-Gon teaching Anakin that his attachments aren’t bad ❤️

    This is great! Keep it up with the Old Gold Legends (The REAL Canon. Fans decide what is canon, not a corporate shell that took advantage of their wealth and shills who sell out.)

    Favorite character? Hard to say..characters I'd like to see more of and know more about are Maul, Young Palpatine, Obi-Wan's brother and Luke leading up to the jedi rebuilding.

    At one point Obi-Wan said he would´ve left the jedi order for Satine. If Padme really was the most important person to Anakin, why didn´t he ask Obi-Wan for help? Did he ever ask him for help to save her instead of thinking only Sidious was the only way to save her? Obi-Wan would´ve definitely sympathized with Anakin´s feelings. Obi-Wan considered Anakin as a brother and wouldve been more trustworthy than the guy who orchestrated an entire war.

    Ahsoka has become my favorite character, sure she was a bit annoying early on, but her character development throughout has been amazing! Wish she would have been able to keep Anakin in the light but alas, we would have never had the amazing character of Darth Vader.

      I feel that Filoni tries to insert her way too often into the stories. Meeting the same people across the vast galaxy makes the setting feel smaller.

    Hello There Everyone!! I absolutely love these lore videos, Revenge Of The Sith is in my opinion the best Starwars film, especially the novel.

    This was a rationalization after the fact and NOT the sole reason for what Anakin chose to do.
    It wasn’t all about Padme.
    The Jedi Order claimed to be all about wise counsel, peace, justice, servicing the Republic and helping those in need. Yet they weren’t offering him good counsel and not only have they been leading an unjust war were both sides have brought unnecessary civilian deaths and suffering and destruction and instability, but now that one of the two Sith that they claimed were behind the war, that rather than wind the war down so they could focus on finding the remaining Sith mastermind, that they were instead becoming more entrenched in the war. And now as it turns out, Palpatine was right when he claimed that the Jedi Order were prolonging the war as a pretense towards grabbing power. And then Mace decided that he would kill Palpatine, the leader of the Republic that they served (and Anakin’s friend) rather arresting him pending a fair investigation and trial. LIES and TREASON.
    It was a bitter crisis of faith for Anakin when he lead the purge of the Jedi temple. The Jedi were evil and needed to go.
    And then Palpatine revealed the location of the Separatist leaders and to kill them. So the Sith were evil. Palpatine was evil and needed to go.
    Meanwhile Anakin was the Chosen One. He had brought balance by ending the war. And now he would bring balance by destroying the Sith just as he destroyed the Jedi. He was the Chosen One. He would be more powerful than anyone, ever. It was his destiny to rule it all. And he would fix all of the galaxy’s problems once he has control since only he knows what those problem are and how to fix them.
    After his transformation, he felt that what he did when he brought down the Jedi made him irredeemably a slave to the Darkside. And his means to power and order was through the instrument of the Empire and Palpatine who he would replace.
    He still could have been as powerful as Palpatine if not more so. But it was the same with him as it was with the Jedi master. Palpatine didn’t offer Vader much new training or knowledge. Instead Palptine hoarded that knowledge for himself or had it destroyed. So despite all of the potential he had been born with, Vader never progressed above 80% that of the Emperor’s power level.

    Always had the question if Padme was always destined to die in child birth. Of course maybe Anakin had that vision of the future, and his actions determined whether she died or not. However, what if Anakin never betrayed the Jedi and Padme died in childbirth anyways? Like the Force required her to die as a catalyst for Anakin to turn and eliminate the Jedi in order to bring balance to with the eventual destruction of the Sith. My favorite character is and always will be the Chosen One Anakin Skywalker.
