Each nation only got 3 runners. So most of the 62 runners ranked above him wasnt running at the olympics. Ethiopa have 20 runners ranked higher than young. And kenya have 28! And like i said they can only send 3 runners per nation.
Othmane el goumri and kenenisa bekele was the only people ranked above him who he beat. The top 8, all ranked above him, and beat him. So youd imagine had the top 63 all been there hed have been closer to 60th
I was ranked 64th on the Road to Paris, which only includes the athletes selected for the Olympic Marathon. I was ranked 234 when all athletes were included. worldathletics.org/stats-zone/road-to/7153115?eventId=10229634
Thank goodness for Mantz's running style that you can still tell it's him in a sauna suit! And if you ever run into a trail sign that says waterfall, you 100% follow that sign. And that car at the end was scary!
Those sauna suits made me giggle. You guys are awesome and I have really enjoyed watching the series! Beautifully filmed and quality content. This episode was like watching "Breaking Bad: Running to Paris". 🙌
Fantastic , one more , if this is the last one I just want to say have a great second half of 2024 , God bless you , your family and the whole team . Will re watch this while I am training for Boston over the winter.
Have been loving this series Clayton, it has helped me gain more motivation for my next build and to pencil in some runs in Switzerland at some point! Amazing run in the Olympics too! Cheers from Gold Coast, Australia
Again, another outstanding episode and truly outstanding story telling. My favorite running series on TH-cam, by far. Some interesting takes from this one is, getting to see Grant Fisher on a training run with you guys in Sankt Mortiz. That Clayton has to go back to make the microwave bell click after making lunch. Love the CORE spaceman suits and what a smart thing to do to get accustom to the heat. Finally, we almost lost our two best marathoner's to a Paris driver not paying attention and nearly hitting you both. Can't wait for Episode 16 and I'm hoping it's the race day coverage, but part of me wants it not to be as I don't want this series to end. Sorry this is so long, but really really enjoy these when they come out.
It's so fun to see you run where I lived and ran for years (Boulogne-Billancourt, Meudon, Versailles), this "pavés des gardes" climb that you had to run is a real sucker punch as you said, I am pretty sure that you'll remember it for a while.
The sauna suits make it look like y'all walked off of a Missy Elliot music video shoot or are about to blow in attic insulation. In seriousness, this whole series has been wonderful. The humility and transparency of it is as beautiful as the shots of the scenery. Thanks for documenting this all! It's been hugely influential in my training and I sing the praises of this series to other runners on the daily. 🤟
Hey You almost look like an alien in that sweat suit. But exellent work out and you are going great to the olympics I know.....congrates with your and your companions result in the marathon there and now I just wait till sunday and watch the NYC marathon.....INGa Dk.
Just phenomenal. Your content is my favorite part of the week. Cool to see sauna suits and you talking about sea level. Things I haven’t experienced much but hoping to learn more about if it can improve my running. Great motivation and inspiration for my first marathon in Columbus.
Thanks for watching! Yes, there are a lot of details to this sport, and as a pro you've got to find every percent, but at the end of the day, 90 percent of it is just running with your friends.
saw a dance performance about a week ago, and one of the two dancers really reminded me of Clayton's form and mannerisms. anxious to see if we will have more Clayton content after week 16, awesum vid as always
You two made us USA BYU fans so proud! What a great race you guys ran!. The question I hope gets answered in this series is: Did Tola break everyone when he surged, or were Clayton and Connor just cautious about covering a breakaway that far from the finish? IOW, was the difference in fitness, or experience?
That's a great question to ponder... and I am sure my answer will change with time, ur here's my gut answer. There's no doubt that Tola was crazy fit that day. I do think I could have contended for a medal if I had made the right moves, and was a little more aggressive up that last hill... but that's easy to say post race... and I am not positive I could have hung with Tola. We don't know his limit. I do think that if it was more hot and humid my chances would have gone up, and gone up drastically.
@@_Clayton_Young_ Thanks for the response! You ran an awesome race, and I'm glad I stayed up until 2AM to watch it. ;) I suppose these what-if questions are what makes the marathon so fascinating. There are so many unknowns, and every race is different. Congratulations again!
Did I hear you say after the 2 x 4 that you were using an altitude tent? If so, is that just for while you were in Switzerland / France? I just heard you mentioned your phone said it was 11.5k feet and I assumed that was a tent!Another cracking episode 👌
Yes, I sleep at altitude at home, so I was trying to simulate the same situation in St. Mortiz. It was a different system though, so I hadn't quite dialed it in yet. Hence accidentally sleeping at 11,500 ft.
I have been wearing the same exact pair for the entire build except for my Boston 10K race. I do intentionally so that on race day when I pull out of fresh pear, I can feel the pop even more.
@@_Clayton_Young_ Cool. That's what I thought actually. It seems like 1 pair of Superblast lasted quite a few long runs too. Anyway, congrats on the excellent showing in Paris!
Yeah, where we were training in Switzerland was cooler than what the race conditions were expected to be in Paris. So we wanted to simulate and prepare for the heat and humidity as much as possible.
I have been sleeping at altitude for the last couple of years. I've done some blood testing before and after my builds to track its effectiveness, and I've seen some good results. However, I don't really recommend it to anybody because there are 30 things you should be doing right before you even consider sleeping in an altitude tent.
Running in the sauna suits looks brutal. 😮
Mantz and Young staring at a waterfall in marshmallow suits is peak
Comedic gold
Looks like a album cover 💿
Clayton saved Mantz' Olympic ambitions with a well-observed "heads up" at the end lol
Ranked 60 plus and comes 9th in the race. This is what makes the marathon beautiful. It chooses its winners on the day.

Thank you for representing our country with absolute class and dignity.
Andrew is a spectacular videographer. What an incredible series!!
Ahh 15 already one more left sure gonna miss it , or hoping for other race build or usual content
same here
This series has been phenomenal. Just as impressive as the athletes has been the coach.
Those poor picnickers seeing you guys in the sweat suits are probably thinking, “not another pandemic!”
😂 I love this hahaha
Haha, seriously. I love the double takes we would often get.
Running my first marathon in two weeks and these videos have helped me so much!
these videos make me so motivated to just go out and bang out some miles. love this series, I hope you continue to upload after this series is over.
The sauna suit really works for Mantz. Good look.

That shot in the waterfall was fun 😂.. You guys look like Jesse and Walter in breaking bad..
Your wife really gets you.
Sooo wild that Conner does his last workout in AF1s and then turns around and runs the race in AF3s lol
So glad you’re still dropping these episodes! Love seeing every part of the build!
Amen 🙏
Boys looked like they forgot to do the thing at the nuclear power plant and it was going to blow. Great stuff. 😂

@@_Clayton_Young_ what altitude do you sleep at when you're home? Also, why did y'all go to Italy for the track instead of the one in St Moritz?
Hi Clayton! We were interested in doing some content for our Tour similar to this. Do you happen to have the contact info for your videographer?
My name is Andrew storer, and yeah my email is in my TH-cam bio !
Yes! You can hit him up at heystorer@gmail.com .
Can anyone tell what sunglasses Clayton is wearing? I'm in the market for a pair!
I'm wondering if that's the same exact pair of orange Sky we see for this whole series or if there have been more than 1.

What was the purpose of running in the suites?
Getting the body used to running in the heat.
Yeah, where we were training in Switzerland was cooler than what the race conditions were expected to be in Paris. So we wanted to simulate and prepare for the heat and humidity as much as possible.
What was the altitude thing Clayton was talking about around 10 minutes in? I couldn’t figure it out.
Super Blast, or Nova Blast? Which was Clayton wearing?
I was rocking the Novablast 4s while in Europe. But I do love the Superblast for my long runs!
How often do you use the altitude tent? Do you think it helps? Thanks.

Why didn’t they train on the track in St. Moritz? Would have saved the hassle of the commute.
I think they wanted to do the workout at sea level
Yup !
Was Tamirat Tola one of the names you couldn't pronounce?
You’re looking for something that isn’t there man. Move on.
