Canada shares a Western heritage much like the US. In fact country music has an equally enduring history in Canadian musical culture. The Stampeders are named after The Calgary Stampede, an annual festival of rodeo and cowboy life held in July in Calgary, Alberta. Someone in your subscriber base should request you react to Ian Tyson's classic "Four Strong Winds," which has been covered by dozens of artists, including Neil Young and Bobby Bare.

Great Canadian band out of Calgary.

Sweet City Woman is my favourite too.
Thanks Harri. Cheers from Canada 🇨🇦

The video is sweet. Performing at the Stampede grounds on the infield, right beside where the rodeo events and chuckwagon races took place. Takes you back to a simpler time

The Stampeders were only big for a few years, but they had their own wonderful sound. I remember hearing them on the radio as I approached my early teens. The Stampeders were from Calgary, Alberta and took their name from the world famous Calgary Stampede rodeo. The Calgary team in the Canadian Football (not soccer) is also.called the Stampeders. Thanks for a taste of my Canadian childhood memories, Harri.

Great reaction Harri! My first Rock concert was The Stampeders. It was 1972 in my hometown hockey rink. I was 11. It was a real rite of passage. My ears were ringing coming out afterward! Please check out another soulful Canadian classic from this era - When I Die by Motherlode (It's a different song than the one by Blood Sweat and Tears).

There is no signature sound of the Stampeders. They wrote beautiful love songs, rock songs, some country sounding songs, and even touched on heavy rock.
Listen to Playing in the Band, or Manitou, and you'll be surprised.

I saw them when I was 6 yrs old at the Ontario Place opening. They played with the Poppie Family. I remember thinking they were loud and raucous...lol. but I loved being there with my sisters and my Auntie Tookie who took us there. Great memory. Thank you

I still have my pristine Stampeder's record's I got as a 10 year old in Calgary early 70,s. They have a rich vinyl tine that compressed cd's lack. Don't find Stampeder's records much in the second hand vinyl stores here in Calgary!

I remember this great Canadian rock group & had their albums. They started out in the 60's but their biggest hits were in the 70's. "Sweet City Woman", "Hit The Road Jack" (featuring Wolfman Jack), "Carry Me", "Playin' In The Band", "Wild Eyes", "Monday Morning Choo Choo", "Devil You", "Ramona", "Minstrel Gypsy", "New Orleans" etc.

A Canadian gem from the 1970s. I recommend "Carry Me," "Minstrel Gypsy," "Wild Eyes," "Devil YOu," and there are more I'm sure. Just can't think of them off the top off my head, but I grew up listening to this band and it was good good good for the soul.

Thank you Harri for reacting to some Canadian talent. There was a band from the east coast called Spirit of the West who I think you will enjoy. Their song "Home For a Rest" is the perfect Canadian drinking anthem. It always has everyone in the pub singing along whenever it is played. Please check it out!

Always try to listen to the studio version of a song. Only certain live songs are better like Boston or Cheap Trick.

STAMPEDERS - " Oh My Lady " .. CD Studio Version has the best Audio Quality in real stereo sound. by removing " The " and only typing STAMPEDERS which originally the bands original name is Stampeders that's the main reason I don't like Live versions because of the low quality sound you get sometimes, it doesn't happen all the time though only in this particular song which is a live video and not a Studio Recording.
