People change over time. Some of y'all too young to understand that though. Like this douche who talks about stuff he doesn't even know anything about but acts like he's an expert. 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Most of the straight edge kids I grew up with in Syracuse and Albany area back in the 90s turned into drug addicts by the early 2000s. I remember hiding my cigarettes before I go into a show. the good old days damn, I’m getting old
you talk punk and live in a super old house just like the ones we all partied at in the 90's . rip to some places , shit happen anyways means i have to sub just how it is thanks for being you
An actually interesting telling of a piece of hc history, delivered with good production value, your own analysis and professional hater prose…. Not to compare you to your arch nemesis, but this feels like the (better) spiritual successor to those actually good old school Punk Rock MBA videos. Fair play to you 👏
I never thought Earth Crisis could have an alter ego Descendents hardcore bands. Nearly spat out my coffee on this hahaha. Now I want to hear their brown noise.
I never knew this but it doesn’t really effect my opinion of EC. They ruled when I saw them live in 97 and I while I was never straight edge they at least made me question my choices (and watch my back). I like a band that stands for something so I kinda get their reluctance
Back in the days, everytime I heard someone mentioning earth crisis or heard a track of 'em I ate a kebab just to balance shit out. Didn't gain a pound, didn't kill an animal, made the local Turk very wealthy, enjoyed every bite of it
So what? It's only punk rock. None of this will seem important to you in 10 or 20 years when you grow up and grow out of your silly straight edge and vegan beliefs. Do you honestly think you are gonna think this is important when you are 55 and trying to keep up with your kids' college tuitions?
i first heard earth crisis on the misfits tribute album 'violent world' they covered 'earth a.d.' and quite well i'd say. i don't have any beef with people who choose to live a vegan lifestyle, but they can miss me with that cult ideology stuff. it's wild to push your beliefs on others, or only harbor relationships with people who agree with you or share your beliefs. if you don't make effort to find common ground with people who disagree with you, you are doing everyone a disservice.
Anyone who knew the Earth Crisis guys knows this wasn't the case. But also, pushing your beliefs on innocent animals to their death is a consideration too. 🤷
Sean McCabe was a notorious shit starter-also quite the showman, too. People who perform these actions get all riled up when they get a polarizing reaction. I am No longer Vegan or Straight Edge but feel as though I do NOT have A superiority complex to feel the need to exercise my beliefs to be shoved down anyone's throats-if anyone asks, I'll share what I learned from the days of ol'... So, hers my Earth Crisis story....it the early nineties, and I'm a pot head hippy, that somehow fell into the hardcore scene. My buddy who was an old school harcore kid, takes me to a Hatebreed show in Providence, where we lived. Anyway, we get there, and my buddy takes Into the bands dressing room, a small room slightly bigger than my bathroom. He knew Jamey, and Boulder, so we get back there, and there a a few guys from Hatebreed , and a couple other guys wearing bandanas, and stretching. My boy says , spark that up, so I pull out a fatty and light it up. We start passing around the joint, and the 3 guys wearing bandanas leave, and i think to myself, thier loss. We finish the joint, and head out to see Earth Crisis, the opener, who I knew nothing about, other than they were militant SXE, and there are rhe 3 guys that walked out up on stage. These guys are punks!!! Some nobody waled onti their dressing room and sparked a joint, and did/said nothing, and walked out like bitches. Not that I had any before, but I lost all respect from them that night!!!!
I feel like I almost respect them more for not being militant douches when it comes to someone smoking a joint lol, but yeah that definitely clashes with the image they portray
Yeah, anyone who knew the guys knows they were never like that. I usually like Dan's videos, but Earth Crisis were always awesome dudes with big hearts. Just because they had a strong message doesn't mean they were jerks. I mean, think about it: They stood up for defenseless animals.

I absolutely agree 💯 I saw them with Downset, Vison of disorder in Cleveland. Blown away by E.C performance
I never understood how doing drugs and smoking and drinking was looked down upon with a music that goes so well with geting high 😅
Vegan Pantera -silly when they were a contemporary band
One of the reasons I was SxE in High School
Whats up Dan? Great videio. You are on a streak with these essays.

When was I born?
@danframpt0n Hold on... let me wake up your mom and ask her.
okay grandpa time for bed
Earth Crisis basically invented Limp Bisgut by being sticks in the muds
We have a song about Earth Crisis too
Seen them in a bar🤔
This Video could've been 3 minutes.
I always thought they were weak. I was a punk growing up. No! Not Blink! I'm talking about Anti Cimex and the Varukers punk.

I shared this video in 3 hardcore groups on FB and the HATE this got was ridiculous 😂
I'm the "bad boy of hardcore", haven't you heard? Hahaha
Reminds me of Assück's first demo vs the rest of their stuff song title/content-wise. Although Assück's music got way better
Would Brownstars be worth seeing today? Seems pretty, pretty questionable 30 yrs on, old bros! 😅

Where have I heard snorting cheese powder before?

That's also where I 1st heard them, and for a cover, it might be their best recording.
That was a great cover. And I agree with what you said about finding common ground.
