    4:31 I love seeing the realistic part of having a service dog. Their not robots. Their still dogs. Before getting my service dog, I was so worried about training her I had an unrealistic expectation. Service dogs get to have fun too and this clip is so cute 😊

    Something I suggest is imagining the dogs with you before brining them to school. Like a day or so beforehand think if ur school has carpet in your classes or tile. Yes you always wana bring a small blanket for boundaries and to keep them off the dirty floor, but if it's tile you might want a thicker one. Stairs ect, hallways. Everything, where will they stay in gym? How good is their stay? Things like this really help, for example my school has alot of small stair cases but all are very squishy. So to get up and down I'd need to have my dog infront of me, in my school one of the TAs has a therapy dog. I'm not saying it's okay, but that means every student thinks it's okay to just pet them. So if my dog where to go behind me I wouldn't be able to watch people attempting to pet her and correct them. Also wheel chair stalls, yes it's easier to go in there as u got a dog with you. Even fitting a blanket in a easy reach spot, will you have space? All these little things really put it into perspective, good luck!

    I've always wondered why prong collars are used. I thought those were deemed cruel to the dog. But besides that I enjoy watching videos to familiarize myself because I want to be a teacher. There may be a day where I will get a student with a service dog so I want to know what to expect and not accidentally do something illegal.

    • @prKIKII
      @prKIKII 2 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      prong collars are used so if the dog goes too far or too quick it slightly pinches them so they know to calm down and walk with their owner .

    • @Kin_fe
      @Kin_fe 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Prong collars actually don’t harm the dog at all. They are not pointy, they are used to stop the dog from pulling and it is extremely helpful for training!

    • @vixlin
      @vixlin 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      exactly! they are not an aversive method, they are to politely correct your dog! my dog comes running when he hears the jingling because he knows that that means outside and me. thank you for educating yourself, as I get very frustrated when people are uneducated and come saying “pRoNgS aRe ShArP, pUt It On YoUrSeLf! There is a debate on prong collars. Some say it is cruel others say it isn't. The truth is we still don't know.
      What I find weird is that a prong collar is used for dog's who (sorry for the generalisation) do not listen. Mainly to redirect the dog to not pull or to yank it back to attention/ focus. This is a working dog, and unless it's purposefully distracted by people, they ALWAYS focus on their handler. So why the prong? And even when it's distracted the voice or a touch of the handler should be enough to get the working dog's attention.

    Oh No giving your dog raw egg is not healthy. What if you got a batch of eggs that were contaminated with e coli or salmonella. Please cook your dogs eggs. My best friend is a veterinarian. She would have a fit if she saw this. I am 57yrs old and have had dogs in my life since birth. Never give a dog raw eggs , avocado or chocolate, grapes..... Please... If my uncle the best dog trainer ever was still alive he probably pitch a fit. I would never give my diabetic medical alert service dog raw eggs. EVER.
