Just a few minutes ago one of my family members didn't wanna go in public with me, because of my SDIT... and then this video popped up!! It definitely help me cheer up. It remined me how I am excited for when I'm able to take Milo to school with me when he's ready! This video was very helpful, in more ways than one. Me and Milo wish you the best!

My dog is a service dog and the principal was happy to have a other service dog in there school, he then asked the breed, I said "pit bull" and all of the sudden he said "no u can't have the dog here". He hates pits and do to that I wasn't able to bring my service dog in. my mom said that she didn't want to deal with a argument so my mom said leave her at home, u will be fine for a couple of hours without her. I was super pissed off that they denied my dog simply because of the breed, and was even more angry that my mom doesn't give a shit, so there for I lost the battle and I ended up dropping out a year later, cuz I couldn't handle it. I hate my school so much, I'm super disgusted in how it turned out and I'm never going to forgive the law they broke.

oh my gosh. that is terrible! i'm so sorry you had to go through that. breed discrimination is so not okay. it's very frustrating how you had to suffer the consequences with your disability because they wouldn't get over themselves and FOLLOW THE LAW. :(

Woah..I really hope I don’t sound insensitive, but we are almost living the same life. My school denied my SDiT because she wasn’t a low-to no shedding dog or a doodle. I was really annoyed with my principal because other than the service dog thing, he was super cool. There was multiple times he saved me from getting in trouble with the school for dumb stuff I did. My dad didn’t care and didn’t like the service dog thing at the time anyway. I am now with my mom and ended up getting my service dog prospect yesterday :)

That sounds like a really good idea, starting them with half a day so that they don’t get overwhelmed by being in school. That’s good that the process went pretty smoothly for you even though you were the first service dog handler they had. it seems like you had a very easy time having finnegan with you! I wish it had been that easy for me. while they were fine with me bringing my SD, they pretty much refused to explain service dogs to the school, and how to behave. the first solid month of school was fairly normal, except i had to educate everyone myself, then it became too much to we asked them to explain some etiquette for SDs (no pet, no talk, etc) which they did...over the announcements that no one listens to. when that didn't work, we pushed for a letter I wrote to be handed out to teachers so they can go over it in their classrooms. We were told it went out, but when i asked my friends and teachers, turns out no one did ANYTHING. at that point i was getting harrased constantly, and kinda being mute at school because i dealt with so much crap. if someone commented on Mara (my SD) i would ignore because a. I dont have time for the 10+ students telling me stuff in the 5 minutes i have to get to class and b. it was all guys so I was not comfortable talking to them at all as that was who harrassed me. I would get comments like "Is she deaf" and "so rude" all because I didn't want to talk to people anymore when they are the 20th person that day to say "aw so cute" I also had many people constantly distracting her (even after i ask them not to) and trying to pet her. one guy passed our table in the hallway in the morning, then came back around and ask to pet her, i said no, they try anyway, so I yell at them, take in mind i rarely yell because of anxiety, but he caused a panic attack the rest of the day, and later yelled at my friends since they get to pet her (its at lunch time so she does get a break, and my friends always ask and respect when I say no, they don't stalk me around the school, or plot with other friends to do something that her vest clearly says not to. I really need to make a video about all the crap I went through in 2 months of school cause i'm online now and have really bad memories and feelings (like ptsd) from the time i was at the school.

Hey, I am still in the process of even getting my dog to be my service dog because I am still going through test for my health but my dog is already tasked for whatever problems I have currently and has done many training outings in pet friendly locations and is almost done (just waiting for a trainer to ok it) with his training for all of his basics along with all of his tasks. I have talked to my school about having him come as a esa before he is a “service dog” (even though he is already trained to be a sd) but they said it is against the policy. So I just went about emailing my principal about service dogs for him to come with me because I am so close to having him be a service dog that it would make the process easier if I talked to my school first. I had a meeting with my principal and he basically told me no. I’m not 100% sure about the Wisconsin service dog in training laws but I’m not sure what to do next in the process of this? If anyone can help me with anything regarding school in Wisconsin laws but I just need help I’m at a point where I might just leave the school if I can’t have him come as he is extremely needed for me. @gorephobia1 ปีที่แล้ว

No, they shouldn’t require anything, as long as it’s a public school they have to follow the ADA. Service dogs aren’t required in anyway to spayed or neutered, if your dog is a female and is going through a heat cycle I would put a a full body dog diaper (or just a regular dog diaper) on the dog so she isn’t getting blood everywhere
The only thing the school should require is for the dog to trained to be in public space and the dog must be fully task trained.
