    you are perfectly fine love! like you said it’s a new environment and these dogs are ALWAYS learning. As long as she’s under control is corrected (like you already did) you guys are doing great. Improvements are made everyday, even for the highest trained dogs :)

    • @melodysplaypen
      @melodysplaypen 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Honestly, I also needed to hear this. Taking my SDIT into new environments causes her to be heavily distracted and leash pull. I get so nervous people think I'm faking her or something. I've come to the point where I don't even put SDIT on her vest anymore for fear of it being put to shame.

      So number one I will always tell people to get assistance from a trainer, you can follow my training account and messages with videos or things you want to see or if you need help, but I would suggest seeing how she learns best, whether that be an E collar or a prong or some thing and then learning how to correct properly with that usually we use E collars for vocalness (but please go to a professional if you’re learning how do use an E collar, it can be dangerous)

      Sounds like a plan, I would recommend going to the school nurse and talking to them about it and asking them the information needed. Then get a doctors note (medical messes note) and make a list of all the tasks your dog is trained to perform and then make a separate sheet explaining why you need your dog at school like example: (this happens when I’m at school- this take is needed for that incedent)

    I’m so happy for you Lillian, I know how long you’ve been trying to get them to let her come and I’m glad you’re finally able to. Dogs are dogs and as you know to make mistakes. Barking when she gets excited makes sense and as long as she wasn’t growling aggressively I don’t see why you couldn’t correct and refocus her. Did your teacher make a big deal about it when she did? Maybe you can take her to school and we get it when it’s empty and just meet up with one or two people and have them practice things like jumping out in front of her moving really quickly when she’s laying down so she can get used to it.

    • @chronicallyk9415
      @chronicallyk9415  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thankfully the teachers just ignored it or laughed. It really was only a big deal to me. She was approved to continue the year with me (I’ll do an update video soon) and she’s been so much better! Yesterday she didn’t bark at all! I’ll try and Vlog another day here soon, I’ve been having some new health issues that I have a dr apt for tomorrow so Hopfully we can get some answers.
      Also I’m super excited cause our Bridgeport mobility harness comes tomorrow and we might even go on our first outing with it! I’m super excited for that and my new pull strap came in today! (Video out now)

      @asecretcourtofcrowsandcloc4084 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’m so glad to hear that she was approved to continue in the year with you. Are you a junior or a senior? Also why did the person introducing you for your presentation call you Anne Marie? Your name is Lillian isn’t it? That’s great about the new heart is coming, are you going to do a gear video about it? Best of luck with your DR appointment tomorrow. Were you ever able to ask the physical therapist about prescribing wheelchair?

    • @chronicallyk9415
      @chronicallyk9415  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes I’m thankful to be bringing her! Also my name is that but I go by Lillian on my stoical media platforms (I started this channel calling myself by my real name, but then switch to Lillian because I prefer it online)
      Yes I have a doctors appointment today and I’m hoping they can figure out some of the sicknesses I’ve been having.
      I have an appointment with A orthopedic surgeon to discuss my wheelchair. But it’s all going to depend on insurance because if they don’t pay for it which most times they won’t then I can’t get one because I won’t be able to afford it

    • @asecretcourtofcrowsandcloc4084
      @asecretcourtofcrowsandcloc4084 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The fact that you live close to school is perfect that means when you start to bring her you can take her home on lunch breaks and give her half days which is perfect.
      She will need a lot more energy ran out before you get to school and will probably need several breaks during the day.

She eats while I shower, but its summer so we dont know what we'll do if shes ready in training to go to school. For lunch breaks, we have a good cafeteria and outside area thats far from a road. She is very entergetic and only a year old, but Ill test her on a school day sometime to see how she does. (When shes trained around people. Impulse control is really important, shes still jumpy.).
      She spends time outside in the mornings too with her sister Jerry, and they play while I get ready for the day. She does get more exercise and its all done by 6, and my school starts at 8. I think itll work out.

    1. What do you do in gym with a sd?
    2. Was it hard to get the SD in school with you did you have to make paperwork or whatever?

    • @chronicallyk9415
      @chronicallyk9415  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      No problem please ask as many as you want!!
      So for me my doctor wouldn’t write the note because of liability because she was scared that she would be liable for something, so what I asked was for her to write a generic note that was not so specific to Rosie but specifically generalized to my service dog so that in the future that dog nor Rosie can cause her to be liable for writing the note. And she agreed to write it that way

    I've been watching a bunch of different videos with service dogs go to school with there handler cause I am going to start bringing my SD to school with me starting next school year and am trying to have him completely ready and see if I need to do anything or improve anything over the summer with him-

    • @chronicallyk9415
      @chronicallyk9415  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Really my biggest tip is, don’t put too much pressure on them! Make sure your dog can heel, settle & lay down, and ok with strangers yelling, and putting him. And desensitize to noises like fire alarms and active shooter sirens, other then that it’s really pretty simple :) it’s more stress for us as the handlers then it really needs to be haha.
      I’d bring something your dog can chew on during the day as well and if they like laying on a mat get a blanket placemat for them. Other then that treat pouch, poop bags, treats, water bottle/bowl, and leash and gear are all you will need :) don’t over pack lol most things you won’t need

      Oh another tip would definitely be ease them in! Don’t take them everyday start with like the first day, then skip a day then bring them again see if they are showing stress or anything and then decide if you need to wait 1-2 more days to let them rest before coming back and then slowly close the gap to bringing them everyday :)

    Please don’t use the pull strap for counter balance. You can only use and rigid handle on an actual mobility harness for counter balance. Using a pull strap for counter balance puts a lot of strain on your dogs back and can potentially really mess up the dogs back and body. I know this is a year old video but I wanted to mention it.

    • @chronicallyk9415
      @chronicallyk9415  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Did you know that rigid handles are actually “more dangerous” to do CB with! The ideal would definitely by a semi rigid, but that’s only cause it’s already standing and therefore easier to grab without bending… well made pull-strap are completely find for CB they are made to have weight on them and when connected correctly applied equal pressure. You are incorrect, but I do appreciate the concern thanks.
