  • This video is a field test of the Fenix E35R EDC flashlight. Field testing was performed at the Arbor Hills Nature Preserve in Plano, Texas. Beam shots are provided for all output levels along with an over two-minute sustained burst in Turbo Mode. A couple wildlife bonus clips are provided for those who like animal sightings. It is, after all, a nature preserve :)
    I want to thank Fenix Lighting for sending me the light and making the review possible.

    For those keeping score at home, outside temp. was 71F. Headlamp was a Fenix HP30R V2.

    Thank you for reviewing this light.
    Your reviews are the most useful and rational of all that I have seen. Showing lights in in reall life use and testing runtimes make so much more sense than just reading the specs.

      Thank you. I've been using flashlights/headlamps professionally since the late 1970's (remember the old D-battery MagLites?). I've found that the only way to test what really works is rigorous field testing. Actually applies to all my gear, but I seem to have found a niche in the lighting business due to my work in night Search and Rescue. Many more tests to come :)

      @wesolowskimatt ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@L5-SAROfcourse that I remember old maglites. And, you are absolutely right about testing, it's the only way to know if you can rely on your equipment / tools and how they perform. This is why I really appreciate your channel.
      I use lights for edc, but mainly for hicking, so my use cases is a little bit similar to yours, except my objective is to get home safely on my own and not have to be rescued.
      Of course, it doesn't hurt to be prepared for possible shortages in energy supply.

      @@wesolowskimatt I wish I could go out more for an enjoyable hike :). I spend at least 20 nights a month out training, doing reviews (and I always test gear even when I'm out doing a review) or on a SAR op. Doesn't leave much time for anything else :). Thanks again and stay safe.

    That was actually rabbit #2. The first one makes an appearance at 8:14. Thanks for the great review, once again. I'm impressed by this one, I've got one ordered and on the way. I look forward to trying it out.

    Great video, it would be cool to see a side to side comparison between the turbo mode on a fresh start and after some time intervals, for example every 30 seconds for 5 minutes.

    • @L5-SAR
      @L5-SAR  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Pritam043 I don't have any familiarity with the C6 V3. The E35R seemed to be a capable light and there is a field test video on this channel. Now, by thrower, that generally means higher candela. The E35R is 3100 peak LM (for a very short time) but only about 15K peak CD. That's not 'technically' a thrower. Do you want a longer, narrower, more penetrating beam? Do you want to stick with the Fenix brand? Thank you.

      @@Pritam043 Of the two you mentioned, the C6V3 has the higher candela. How attached are you to magnetic base? There are a LOT of options for you, so recommending a single light is practically impossible.

    The most realistic visualization of the various flashlight modes EVER ! ! ! I'm curious, does the high beam stay bright for long or does it gets dimmer just as turbo does...? What's your view on Ledlenser flashlights ? I adore the fact that their entire field of illumination is the same ! Very accurate lighting. But I don't know whether they are well built or not... Also they zoom in or out ! Most flashlights don't ...

      That's a very good question! www.fenixlighting.com/products/fenix-e35r-rechargeable-edc-flashlight . This reseller publishes the burn-down charts provided by Fenix. While under lab conditions, they provide a good general template for what to expect. Most Fenix lights are optimized for a good mix of steady-state and output in High. So, you see the flat output for nearly 4 hours followed by a dramatic step-down. In practice, the shape of the curve tends to hold, but the time it takes to hit a certain point on the curve will be dependent on outside temperatures. Hope that helps and thanks again for the good question. I have one Ledlenser light review on the channel and I've used another in the past. Let's have that discussion at the Ledlenser light review on the channel. Thanks.

    Question, which Fenix do you like better TK20r V2 or TK16 V2??

    • @L5-SAR
      @L5-SAR  ปีที่แล้ว

      That's kind of like asking me whether I like Ginger or Mary Ann better. Correct answer is both :). Two different types of lights. For general searches inside 150 -175 yards line of sight, the TK16 V2. For operation on sustained High mode, working in rain, night tracking, the TK20R V2. Thank you.

    • @dkin

      they have it more on their small edc lights. Tactical lights shouldn't have moonlight mode, but I agree with larger edc lights

    Thanks, this got to be the best flashlight review. I have seen so many reviews but they fail because of bad quality video or they don't show lower output levels. My best flashlight is the Fenix PD40R 2.0 which runs about 2 hours flat 1000 lumens before dropping down. Amazing power thrower, the best indeed and the output beam is fantastic. I usually walk with the headlamp (armytek wizard) and the PD40R in my hand. Killer setup to see close and far away. Sometimes I ride my bike and the PD40R is acting as a long distance thrower. Here is my ride.... th-cam.com/video/vYKgiI_KzF4/w-d-xo.htmlsi=5nQCXHgxqKvZYcRP

    I have the Tk16. :) Bought it when I was new to "high-ed lights"....FENIX needs to UP their UI e.g. icnlude a "moonlight" 1 lum mode and "2 clicks for Turbo". Shouldnt hace ot cycle past Turbo everytime you wan a lower mode. or not be able to "click twice for T"...don't know why FENIX is refusing t to make those changes to this day in late 2023...
