There's no dress code, but just make sure that you're in a well lit area and are audible. When you join the interview the interviewer would introduce himself and would let you know that he won't press the record button right away. The rest of the questions would be quite easy and would be about you, your family members, your hobbies, your education, your qualifications etc. You'll also be asked about why you want to join the Royal Navy and especially the Royal Marines. After the interview the interviewer would tell you that he'd take a 20 minutes break and would ask you to join the interview after the given time to let you know whether you passed it or not. I'm 26 and I've been thinking about it on and off for years. I think I would like to be an officer but I'm not from a military family and everyone in the comments seems to already want it, whereas I'm interested just unsure. I could describe myself as an "amateur naval enthusiast". It seems like people who join the forces were born that way or grew up that way. I'm not sporty I've never done team sports but I've trained as a teacher, managed a sales team and taken on quite a bit extra in my current role. Basically I want someone to tell me if I have what it takes or not.
I’m currently in joining process for the Royal Marines I have my entry test soon but I have severe dyslexia would I get any help with reading in my test

I'm an Australian training to join the Royal Marines, is it harder for commonwealth folks to join? My determination is significant, I was formerly Obese and lost all the weight and now i go to the gym and lift heavy weights trying to get strong as possible without any drugs, just whey, creatine and diet, am I doing something wrong? Should I prioritize cardio over weights or keep them in balance? Cheers.
Hi there, it's great you are looking to join! It's not harder for people from the commonwealth to join - you will need to meet the criteria detailed on the following page, but go for it with the same vigor and determination you are showing in your message. You don't necessarily have to lift heavy weights. Go for lighter weights with more reps, swim, use a rowing machine and do copious quantities of situps, press ups and burpees. Good luck. Here's the link: www.royalnavy.mod.uk/careers/joining/commonwealth-and-non-british/royal-marines Cheers, Richard
Hi I was wondering. It’s there a pass percentage you must achieve for the Royal Marines recruitment test which you take? And is it an over all score or are you passed on each subject?.
Hi Dom, you need to take the Royal Navy Recruiting Test and details are here: www.royalnavy.mod.uk/careers/joining/get-ready-to-join/practise-for-rt-test/reasoning The pass mark is dependent on what you are trying to join. There's also details on this website: www.how2become.com/careers/royal-marines-commando/ Cheers, Richard
CareerVidz yes thank you I’ve been practicing on the full Royal Marines test everyday now and I’ve hitting high scores. I’m also doing revision on there back ground. And the command units along with the values of a Royal Marine. Plus the top 10 memorable moments in the marines history.
I'm not sure as of to whether I should get a job after college but stay fit, or risk joining the Royal marines for a year or so after college, learn the necessary skills for life and then get a job. What do you guys think would be the best choice?
Glad I found this video it will help me a lot to becoming an commando but I need to ask about that family question personally my family don’t want you to become a marine but I can’t see anything else as my future career I get up at 5 just to go gym and bout weights for home but I know my family still don’t want me to do it what should I do?
Hi, thanks for commenting. I think the important thing is to be honest in your reply. Tell the interviewer that your family doesn't want you to join and explain the reasons why. Tell the panel you have done all you can to reassure them, but at the end of the day you are an adult who has his/her own goals and ambitions and nobody is going to deter you from achieving your goal. Finish off by saying that you believe your family will eventually come round to supporting you, once you commence training and they see a positive difference in you. I hope this helps. Richard
@@CareerVidz Thank you for replying i was worried the panel would suggest not becoming a commando if my family wasn't behind me, especially since i'm trying for the officer role. Again thank you for the reply

Pollyanna Pluck interview went really well I passed , he asked about urself a lot so make sure you talk about urself with confidence but don’t be arrogant , also learn the logo asked about the lion on the logo and date of the corps . Learn about all commando troops and where they based for the example 45 commando is in Arbroth Scotland
I have never really been apart of a team in sports as have always trained alone or kept to myself, aswell as this i have had an injury requiring surgery on my collarbone from a mountain biking incident ( which does not cause any problems since ) and ontop of this i wear glasses, would these effect my eligibility or will i be okay? All ive ever wanted to do was join the marines and i was in army cadets when i was younger and travelled to France for the D-Day 75th anniversary. I go to the gym every day aswell as working both Saturdays and Sundays as a Kitchen Porter/ chef and then have school all other 5 days of the week. I have also grown up without a father figure or any real male role models with two younger brothers who i felt responsibility to care for and so i feel i am very mature for my age. I am in my first year of sixth form and am hoping to join when ive finished my A-Levels.
I am a Nigerian and would love to take this journey. I am currently going through my online application. I am fit and determined. I would like to know how while being in Nigeria I will be able to take the test , interview and medical test .
Hey! At the momment i am 14 years old and i've had the royal marines as an oppurtunity for me in the future on my mind for a while. I have a year and half left in school and i was wondering if you have any advice for me about getting ready for training. I understand that i am still young and i have plenty of growing left but i was wondering if you could give me any ideas on how to train but not too dangerously. Thanks and this video helped understand what the royal marines ask and what answers are relevant!
Hey, thanks for your comment and it's great you are thinking of joining the Royal Marines I think it's great that you are looking to prepare early on. As you quite rightly point out, I think it's important that you don't do anything dangerous. I recommend looking into running, swimming, press ups and also pull-ups. These will give you a good base for getting fitter! Make sure you have someone with you to guide and support you when you're taking part in these activities. Good luck and we are sure you will achieve your goal of becoming a Royal Marines Commando if you work hard.

Hi Lee, my advice is to start taking swimming lessons. Which county in the UK are you based and I will send you some details of where to start learning?
For the family circumstances part: I don't have a particularly good relationship with my parents. They probably wouldn't fully condone any career choice of mine and especially not the infantry. If I'm asked about it should I be honest or evasive?
I believe the requirement to be an officer is 96 ucas points. I have heard that if someone has 196 they don’t need A-levels or GCSEs . I currently am doing math and English gcse and will be learning french until fluent. Could you confirm any of this?

Is there any Pacific colour of suit you should have for your interview or shouldn't. As the the only suit I have is a blue one will this be okay? Or should I get a grey or black one
Thank you so much. Worth mentioning to anyone reading that the RMC currently take 1 in 8 applicants! I'm mentoring a 13 year old who wants to get in, but won't if he carries on in the same vein as he has, so this is gold dust. 👍
I’m old enough to join in August and have already been to the careers office talking about my career in the Royal Marines and I have noticed in this video that the answers to the questions are mainly based around the training side and not the full nature of the job. I was wondering if I should mention that I’m joining to make England a Safer place and free from terror and not touch on the subject of training so much (even though I know the thirty two weeks of training will be hell) please help me out with any information you have that could help me and others with answering the questions truthfully
Hi Sam, you could say that if you want to but remember the Royal Marines do so much more than that. I personally think the training is an important aspect of the role to discuss at the interview. More information can be found here: www.how2become.com/royal-marines-interview/

Well I will let you know something tim. The Royal Marines takes on all walks of life

Good luck. Thanks mate.

Hi I was wondering. It’s there a pass percentage you must achieve for the Royal Marines recruitment test which you take? And is it an over all score or are you passed on each subject?.
Hi Dom, you need to take the Royal Navy Recruiting Test and details are here:
www.royalnavy.mod.uk/careers/joining/get-ready-to-join/practise-for-rt-test/reasoning
The pass mark is dependent on what you are trying to join.
There's also details on this website:

I'm not sure as of to whether I should get a job after college but stay fit, or risk joining the Royal marines for a year or so after college, learn the necessary skills for life and then get a job. What do you guys think would be the best choice?
indian priest you often have to serve a minimum time
Glad I found this video it will help me a lot to becoming an commando but I need to ask about that family question personally my family don’t want you to become a marine but I can’t see anything else as my future career I get up at 5 just to go gym and bout weights for home but I know my family still don’t want me to do it what should I do?
The interview is easy, just do research and know what you are actually applying for. The interview is not meant to be competitive, that comes later.

Crane Fly hay pal, I’m just waiting on my date for my interview. Can you let me know how yours goes and some questions you got?
Pollyanna Pluck interview went really well I passed , he asked about urself a lot so make sure you talk about urself with confidence but don’t be arrogant , also learn the logo asked about the lion on the logo and date of the corps . Learn about all commando troops and where they based for the example 45 commando is in Arbroth Scotland
Okay thank you for that. Well done on the pass
How long was your interview may I ask?
Just go for it... don't worry
I am a Nigerian and would love to take this journey. I am currently going through my online application. I am fit and determined. I would like to know how while being in Nigeria I will be able to take the test , interview and medical test .
Hi, sure thing... here is some information for you: www.how2become.com/blog/join-the-royal-navy-as-a-commonwealth-citizen/
@@CareerVidz Tank you for the advice. I will make sure i consider all of these in the future for my training!

For the family circumstances part: I don't have a particularly good relationship with my parents. They probably wouldn't fully condone any career choice of mine and especially not the infantry. If I'm asked about it should I be honest or evasive?
Be honest - honesty is the best policy... always! :)
Sir, I am from India can I join the ROYAL MARINES COMMANDOS, as one can join from Commonwealth countries.
Please help me out.
Is lasik( laser eye surgery) allowed to get into military?
I believe the requirement to be an officer is 96 ucas points. I have heard that if someone has 196 they don’t need A-levels or GCSEs . I currently am doing math and English gcse and will be learning french until fluent.
Could you confirm any of this?
I am not sure myself, but hopefully someone here can confirm whether that is correct or not. You can also contact here to get confirmation quickly: www.royalnavy.mod.uk/careers/royal-marines/what-can-i-do/royal-marines-commando
Are woman allowed in the marines? As I am only 13 but been thinking about the marines for a year or so.
They most certainly can join... here's some information to read: www.royalnavy.mod.uk/royalmarines/women

@@JayMartin1 Women can join any frontline regiment now but must still do the same physical tests as the men although they wont get shouted at and there wont be any black humour involved incase it offends women.

will this video be applicable to today since it was from 5 years ago? i have my interview next week and not sure if different questions will be asked of if theyll be basically the same
Yes it should still be helpful! :)
Is the Royal Marines commandos different then the regular soldiers?
Hi, yes it is different. It's much tougher in many respects, especially the fitness. I hope that helps :)
Does the interview and exam both physically and mentally work on a point system
Is there any Pacific colour of suit you should have for your interview or shouldn't. As the the only suit I have is a blue one will this be okay? Or should I get a grey or black one
I think navy blue suits work great for an interview 👍
Thank you so much. Worth mentioning to anyone reading that the RMC currently take 1 in 8 applicants! I'm mentoring a 13 year old who wants to get in, but won't if he carries on in the same vein as he has, so this is gold dust. 👍
Glad it helps! And thanks for sharing the info!
