      @@mmm-bi1my Hello. My interview was done virtually. I believe that that's how interviews are being done post covid. There's no dress code, but just make sure that you're in a well lit area and are audible. When you join the interview the interviewer would introduce himself and would let you know that he won't press the record button right away. He'll ask you a couple of questions, mostly about the physical aspects of the Royal Marines training, commando units and their roles and where they are based etc. If you get them wrong then he'd ask you to write them down and quickly mesmerize them so that you'll be able to answer them when he hits record. The rest of the questions would be quite easy and would be about you, your family members, your hobbies, your education, your qualifications etc. You'll also be asked about why you want to join the Royal Navy and especially the Royal Marines. After the interview the interviewer would tell you that he'd take a 20 minutes break and would ask you to join the interview after the given time to let you know whether you passed it or not. Keep in mind that the interview itself is very easy and it's harder to fail it than it is to pass. All the best for your interview.

    Going to enlist straight after college, something I have always wanted to do. I started researching how much it takes to join the Royal Marines as soon as I got out of secondary. Not going to lie, It looks like a challenge, so I have been pushing myself into fitness and teambuilding activities more and more as of late. I'm not going to lie, as the time draws closer, the more anxious I get. But I'm certain if I hold my head up high, walk and speak with confidence, and give it my very all, then I'm very certain I will pass.

Anyone who is taking the interview, preparation is key but if you prepare correctly you will have no problem passing this. I would recommend learning the 4 commando tests, the corp badge and what each piece represents and also the commando units (45, 43, 42, commando etc) and where and what they are doing on employment at the current time of your interview you can find this online. Good luck to anyone with there interview coming up or is thinking about joining the Royal Marines. Thanks again Richard!!

    I really don't recall my interview, i recall the paper test at Liverpool, then the medical in the same building. Then I recall going on the PRMC. This was 97.
    I was 16 and wore school trousers and polo t-shirt.

    • @StephenButlerOne
      @StephenButlerOne 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @UC06vamPdWd3wHmIbfTyds3A bllody hell it was a long time ago. It was basic maths, English, and sort of similar to an iq test, which basically tests problem solving and spacial awareness.
      It wasn't just a RM paper, it was a standered navy paper, every non officer had to sit it. Depending on what roll you was applying for, deemed how well you had to.
      To join the marines you only needed a very low score, something like 35/40%, a sub mariner needing something like 90% to gain entry.
      I can't recall if it was multiple choice or not, I know at that time the army test was, but that was on a pc. I applied for both Paras and marines, I couldn't wait to leave home, which was shit.

    I'm 26 and I've been thinking about it on and off for years. I think I would like to be an officer but I'm not from a military family and everyone in the comments seems to already want it, whereas I'm interested just unsure. I could describe myself as an "amateur naval enthusiast". It seems like people who join the forces were born that way or grew up that way. I'm not sporty I've never done team sports but I've trained as a teacher, managed a sales team and taken on quite a bit extra in my current role.
    Basically I want someone to tell me if I have what it takes or not.

    • @CareerVidz
      @CareerVidz  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, thanks for commenting. I think the important thing is to be honest in your reply. Tell the interviewer that your family doesn't want you to join and explain the reasons why. Tell the panel you have done all you can to reassure them, but at the end of the day you are an adult who has his/her own goals and ambitions and nobody is going to deter you from achieving your goal. Finish off by saying that you believe your family will eventually come round to supporting you, once you commence training and they see a positive difference in you.
      I hope this helps.

    My son age 18 has everything going for him for the Royal Marines in terms of fitness and mindset, everything you mention here. He’s strong positive confident and super keen. His best 1.5 mile run time is 8:06. He is strong in all the physical tests and all his health is great. But the only concern is that he has mild eczema on his hands and a bit in his elbows. Usually not visible and not on his medical record. His integrity is paramount to him and he does not want to lie. Does he still have a chance of getting in?

      Hi there, thanks for posting and it sounds like your son has the potential to pass the selection process. My advice is to go for it and see what they say at the medical. I am sure it will be fine, but I recommend checking the medical requirements on the RN age below: www.royalnavy.mod.uk/careers/joining/get-ready-to-join/royal-marines-commando/am-i-eligible
      Like I say, my advice is for him to apply as he has nothing to lose!

    I'm an Australian training to join the Royal Marines, is it harder for commonwealth folks to join? My determination is significant, I was formerly Obese and lost all the weight and now i go to the gym and lift heavy weights trying to get strong as possible without any drugs, just whey, creatine and diet, am I doing something wrong? Should I prioritize cardio over weights or keep them in balance? Cheers.

    • @CareerVidz
      @CareerVidz  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi there, it's great you are looking to join! It's not harder for people from the commonwealth to join - you will need to meet the criteria detailed on the following page, but go for it with the same vigor and determination you are showing in your message. You don't necessarily have to lift heavy weights. Go for lighter weights with more reps, swim, use a rowing machine and do copious quantities of situps, press ups and burpees. Good luck. All ive ever wanted to do was join the marines and i was in army cadets when i was younger and travelled to France for the D-Day 75th anniversary. I go to the gym every day aswell as working both Saturdays and Sundays as a Kitchen Porter/ chef and then have school all other 5 days of the week. I have also grown up without a father figure or any real male role models with two younger brothers who i felt responsibility to care for and so i feel i am very mature for my age. Very informative video. How many times a year do the marines recruit? I am a British citizen living in republic of Ireland. Would this fact hinder my chances?

      I was wondering when you ask a young man why he wanted to join the Royal Marines.. if you were looking for a generic PC answer or an honest answer.
      I am way too old to join. But if I could, I'd say :
      Serve Her Majesty and kill her enemies.
      Would that be an instant fail ?

    Thank you so much. Worth mentioning to anyone reading that the RMC currently take 1 in 8 applicants! I'm mentoring a 13 year old who wants to get in, but won't if he carries on in the same vein as he has, so this is gold dust. 👍

    I believe the requirement to be an officer is 96 ucas points. I have heard that if someone has 196 they don’t need A-levels or GCSEs . I currently am doing math and English gcse and will be learning french until fluent.
    Could you confirm any of this?

      I am not sure myself, but hopefully someone here can confirm whether that is correct or not. You can also contact here to get confirmation quickly: www.royalnavy.mod.uk/careers/royal-marines/what-can-i-do/royal-marines-commando

    I’m old enough to join in August and have already been to the careers office talking about my career in the Royal Marines and I have noticed in this video that the answers to the questions are mainly based around the training side and not the full nature of the job. I was wondering if I should mention that I’m joining to make England a Safer place and free from terror and not touch on the subject of training so much (even though I know the thirty two weeks of training will be hell) please help me out with any information you have that could help me and others with answering the questions truthfully

    • @CareerVidz

      Hi Sam, you could say that if you want to but remember the Royal Marines do so much more than that. I personally think the training is an important aspect of the role to discuss at the interview. More information can be found here: www.how2become.com/royal-marines-interview/

    For the family circumstances part: I don't have a particularly good relationship with my parents. They probably wouldn't fully condone any career choice of mine and especially not the infantry. If I'm asked about it should I be honest or evasive?

      Joe Johnson went well thank you he only asked a couple questions about sports but more about other times in life where I’ve had to work as a team I feel like he just asks about sports because it easy to answer (if you’ve played sports before) but I wouldn’t worry too much I’d just stress mostly about knowing your six modules of training and corps history 👍
