Hey.. Can you check out the other brand which similar to this Nyxi.. It's called Iine Elite Plus Joypad because I wonder what's different between this two.. They look totally similar but Iine brand offer Splatoon theme Joypad which very good looking that I have with me and the price compare to this non-Pro Nyxi is bit cheaper in my area btw I live on South East Asia..
I just bought a pair of the originals recently so I don't think I'll be buying this ones soon but it's cool that they finally have a hall effect alternative.
Damn 3 days ago I was looking for new JoyCons and I've seen only regular Hyperion and I've wished about these but with hall effects sticks. What a plesent surprise from NYXI and I wish that every company will start using hall effects sticks.
My only wish is the color of the controller but I see why they didn’t more colors at launch since consumers would be confused about what models are which but I still hope for a transparent edition with Hall effect sticks
I use other brand called Iine Elite Plus Joypad.. They look very similar to this Nyxi but they offer Splatoon Theme color which I have.. Already using it more than 5 month and no drift.. Price is much cheaper compare to this Non-Pro Nyxi in my area..
Ordered these and looking forward to trying them out . I do wish they had black/white/gray for the HE Pro versions. Why they decided to land on lettuce green is a weird decision imo.
I got the base version and they feel very cheap and plasticky, they're also made with very slippery plastic, the textures on the back doesn't help with grip.
wish they release a white version soon! would prefer this joycon style over the grip/case style for more versatility as i switch between docked and handheld alot
These look awesome. The only thing that kills them for me is not being able to map both back buttons to the left triggers. 😢 I am missing left index finger and basically quit gaming during GC, Xbox, PS2 era. The new controllers with the mappable buttons allowing me to map and press left trigger buttons is really what allows me to game again.
Thanks for the amazingly comprehensive review! Bought one in the game cube colorway as a result. Absolutely love them! HUGE step up from the Hori Split pad I was using Only downside I could think of was flex from not having any stabilizers on the back of the controllers to prevent them from bending along the track. (and yeah the flattish analog hats feel a bit odd and may take a bit of getting used to
Mine just arrived today and it is seriously amazing. Invalidates the hori pro (just lost my 2nd pair to drift) sticks as well as the originals. The dpad (which they never expounded on for some reason?) is clicky and works wonderfully with fighting games. The pads themselves also have weight and feel very durable, will definitely last through many intense gaming sessions! Really the only bad thing is the color (I don’t really have a problem with it personally) but everything else is pretty much everything I’ve ever wanted out of a joycon.
I have to disagree here. Everything but the dpad works well. In my case the down button only registers half of the inputs and the dpad edges in general are kind of sharp and uncomfortable. I’m unsure whether I got a fault unit or not. Sending it back to see what happens. Hopes are low.
For some reason, this is the only review on these controllers that I can find. I currently have the Animal Crossing themed Joy-Con from Binbok. They seem to be identical to the NYXI Athenas in everything but color. Like, they seem like they're using the exact same molds? That's honestly kind of suspicious. But anyway, I'm liking the look of the Hyperion Pro. I love the metal sticks, the wide topper, and the hall effect sensor. Just have to decide if it's really worth the upgrade, especially with a new console right around the corner.
My black Hyperions have been my daily drivers since I got them, despite previously having bought a satisfye grip. Well, my hyperions and a grip controller with very similar form factor you slide the switch tablet into. I've wanted hall effect versions due potential stick drift. Mine are doing just fine at the moment and I don't like the color of these so i'm in no rush to get these. I'm going to wait until my current one start to drift and see what's available then. Definitely a fan to the Hyperions though. Just wish they had come out earlier in the Switch's life span.
@@redburn1990the screen is usually the only piece you need to worry about so I think that as long as you have the room for it,I think that you can it with them on.
I wish NYXI also did more to upgrade some other stuff for Hyperions Pro. Basically the only real difference between Pro and regular version is the hall effect, so if you already have standard Hyperions (like i do), it's not really worth upgrading unless your joycons already start to drift. For example, they could've tried improving the rumble, the gyro or the lights going back to default after few hours of not using the Switch. Putting a little more weight on them would've also been nice, because they're actually surprisingly light when they're not connected to Switch, which makes them feel cheap. Don't get me wrong, i think Hyperions are great, but the Pro version is just not worth getting if you already own a pair of original ones in my opinion.
yea, its kinda strange that they didnt change the way of charging them. i would love to have a charger in the "middle" part of joycons not in the each of them, and also why not have option to turn off rgb coloring, it would save some minutes on the battery. Kinda feels like alot of missed opportunities
Well with my good timing, I asked if you were doing a video yesterday, and here we are! Thanks for the video, they are ordered (using your clickthrough link and discount code), can't wait to get them.
My first (now old) Hyperion model doesn't keep the macro and color settings I've made (after some hours, it resets to default, red lights and no macro). I believe they correct this on this new model, since you said that after 24 hours, it keeps the colors you customized. Maybe I'll try these.
I was 2 clicks away from buying other model, you changed my mind in the last second, I didnt know there were hall effect controllers in this form factor, thank you. Quick question, does the ML and MR are really button swaps (for long press actions) or just for macros?
to use the usb's you can use an L adapter and if you want more usb's, a hub, i use both with a neogrip ands work's perfectly. Thanks for the review i will bought it.
The manual says there's brightness adjustment for the lights, but I sure can't figure out what the rocker button is. It isn't the dpad, the only rocking button, cuz it's referred to as 'cross key' in the instruction segments. Would also like to know how to turn on the face buttons backlight, they flicker when the controller is woken up but don't stay on
If you still haven't figured it out, just hold down the turbo key and you can use the analog sticks to set the brightness. Pull down on it and you lower the brightness. The face buttons should light up with the little bar and the circle around the stick. If it doesn't, I think it is a defective unit.
How do these compare against the doyoky Hall effect joy cons you reviewed a while ago? Might cancel my order to get these instead as they haven’t shipped out yet.
Hiya, when i play on splatoon 3 using this controller, on handheld mode my motion control doesnt work even though its enabled. I tried re-attaching the joycons but still no solution. Is it defect by any chance? Am not too happily satisfied with mine :((
2 issues I had with the old Hyperions hopefully they fixed with this new one. The D Pad sucked, and the programmable buttons and lights don’t save, it’ll lose its settings after a day or 2.
It means the base the joystick is sitting on is magnetic, meaning you don't have to worry that your joystick starts drifting in game from dust and debris collected through constant use.
I'm just putting mine in the dock for the first time with these controllers attached…, is it just me or does it not fit well in the dock with this controller attached? It feels so tight I'm worried about damaging it
