This song was in a famous commercial. It's playing on TV now and then, I think it's sprint or some other telecommunications company that uses it in their commercial. If you know, please tell me. It fills me with pride knowing Simcity 4 Music is getting big. - เพลง
When I was 8: I couldn't listen to this song because I thought it sounded sad/depressing.
When I was 16: I used this song to comfort me when I was feeling depressed.
SC4 forever
I played this game when i was 5 or 6 like 600 hours and im 16 right now. Idk why but the songs you listened when you were a child sticks in your mind forever. I grew up with nfs underground and with this masterpiece. :')

@@CJWJR You could potentially use a youtube to mp3 converter to download the song from the web and then cut it yourself, i've gotten music that way, but i've never cut it.
@@CJWJR and i agree with you on the bass part too, it would be more dramatic cutout earlier.
Revisiting this in 2023, I can honestly say this is one of the greatest computer game soundtracks of all time. It really hold its own as a standalone album.
The Fiddler in this tune is DAROL ANGER. He's best known as a bluegrass fiddler but he plays a lot of Irish and Indian styles too. He knew Jerry Martin because they both play jazz music in the Bay Area (before Anger moved to the East Coast).
BTW people not too get too technical but I tried creating a song inspired by this and found that about 70% of the scales that this song relates too are Eastern based. Like the Ethiopian Scale, Augmented 5th Scale, Spanish 8 Tone, etc.
So, "Texan" isn't correct. Though it does still represent a small town feel. And I do respect other people have different opinions but when I think of the small town to this, I think more of a Small Town in the Eastern World since the scale feels too me that way.

Everything about this song is an absolute masterpiece. The fiddle from Darol Anger is so on point and incredible the whole way though. The low key supporting digital beat behind it. The way it brings the bass in, and then the synth, the way it drops the fiddle while the synth does its work only to combine them towards the end. Then of course that hauntingly beautiful way it drops you into the tiny piano solo at the end. That moment honestly swells such a rush of emotion in me I tear up each time I hear it.
Well done to all that worked on this one. Its truly beautiful and one of my favourite songs. It touches my heart in a way only few songs can.
One of the rare examples of a beautiful track being composed of instruments/genres one wouldn't think could work together

2. Your right! Simcity 4 msuic has been getting big. In a documentary they played a song from the soundtrack, I cant remember which song but it was about people blowing old military ships up to create artifical reefs

We all thought the next Simcity will be greater than games after Simcity 4. But EA ruined that...
Even without additional content nor even updates, TS3 was very enjoyable. But still can't say it for TS4 and Simcity 2013
I kept imagining a Sim City that shared all content with the Sims to allow micromanagement on an exponential level. Sort of expanding greatly on what they did with SC4 and Sims 3, where you could bring a Sims character into the city, or import a small section of SC4 into the Sims. I pictured the newest games synergizing together, switching on the fly between managing families to a stable point then switching to the mayor role to manage and expand the city. Such a great opportunity for EA squandered.
Even a potato is saddened by this.
@@Scizyr I also have imagined that, it would be so cool. to be able to go on sims and have the option to move-in on the map sims gives you, or press a button to move into a property in a saved SC4 city.
The music of SC4 was composed by Jerry Martin, the same composer as SC3K and the Sims. All of these games had very great soundtracks.

My favorite song from Sim City 4... I would sit back and watch all the people and listen to this song... with my budget adviser screaming at me at the bottom of the screen. XD
I don't like listening to these songs but at the same time I do. It's a great soundtrack, but it makes me feel sad that there probably never will be a good sequel to this.
You should check out City Skylines if you haven't already. It's everything you'd want from a Sim City game, except monsters and arcologies. :(
@@zfoxfire I played through cities skylines after reading many coments like this one, sadly I was really disapointed, for me it was a nice game but it lacked the same soul from SC
This song reminds me of that one small amateur pilot, she flew around the small farm next to my house, the sky was gray and it almost rained. She loved flying with that plane, eventually, she moved out.
2 things are certain, will wright has walked away from the making of sim city, and the series has never been the same :(

Man, people are so immature, you don't need drugs to get high. All you gotta do is listen to this type of music and you are gone out of this earth.... at least for a couple of minutes... and by the time you come back, I swear man, you'll see things in a different way. Best of all, one benefits rather than causing harm to one's self. Amen!

Very beautiful music, i always tune this in when observing at the Night Skylines in Cities Skylines (again) ;) For me Skylines is the direct successor to Sim city 4 and what a great experience it is with the deep SC4 music.

I haven't played this game in years but I'll inadvertently have songs from the soundtrack playing in my head from time to time. Sure enough, this song is the one that I remember most often. Reminds me of the transition from rural community to urban metropolis in some sort of Koyaanisqatsi-like scene. Simply brilliant.
From 1:58 on is deep.
So beautiful. No city building can come close to the magic of sim City 4.

I love this song. It's got this emotional feel to it. it's depressing but yet enlightening. It reminds me that though the chances of us being alone in the universe are slim, we just might be. Depending on what mood I am in, sometimes I think the opposite of that.

+Måns Gezelius Check out Distorted Reality 2. Many artists used this CD, including this one and the one you mentioned. even Stewart Copeland used it for Spyro 2 Ripto's Rage if you're familiar with that game.
It sounded like Shamburger from AoE2's In-Game Soundtrack.
It's kinda funny how so many artists, particularly video game artists, used these sample libraries. Some may consider it lazy, but they often produce great music regardless.

yeah, and once again, you can kind of guess what theme the songmakers were going with this based on the title. Floating population...sounds like some kind of free people, independent of the rest of the world. and in many ways a small texan town represents that. personally this one sounds like the music to a travel commercial for some european city, like berlin or paris
