    Thanks again Marty. Another great handle on homemade tools is a half inch socket wrench with a cushion handle, works great.

    Just thin out some JB Weld a bit with acetone and fill the tube. No need to weld. (And I'm always looking for reasons to spark my tig) And how do you align the handle with the tool tip? Having it off leads to mistakes. No reason to go through all that work to have the handle 35 degrees off from the tip.

    I'll have to call you sometime to see how much training costs I find PDR really interesting. I didn't even know people did this the way you do it

      Ya my method of doing PDR is a blend of traditional PDR and old school metal shaping. It is different LOL

    I ordered some 7/8- 049” wall. Will that be too flimsy?
    I have some one inch also.

    Marty, do you recommend welding on the gear? I made 3 of these handles, but I used springsteel and made my own tools. I put a thread on the springsteel wich was a lot of work, and used green loctite to secure it. After 5 years it's still holding very well. I think it was from a photo from you on door ding.

      Hi Bjorn. Ya threading high carbon steel is a nightmare! Threading or welding SS is much easier. I wouldn't recommend welding to the gear as the heat will soften the gears hardness. If what your doing is working for you then keep doing it!

    • @TopGunPDRTraining
      @TopGunPDRTraining  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You have to buy the whale tail first and then shape it.

    Ok Marty how about making a removable handle that will fit most of your tools. Cut handle off tool then weld a bolt or something that will receive the McMaster that has a socket type on it? For the traveling tech. One handle for most of your tools

    • @TopGunPDRTraining
      @TopGunPDRTraining  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yup just weld the bolt to any tools you like and screw each into the same handle. I know quite a few techs that do that.
