AMAZING WORK! This is just a public service announcement. Don't go with the low quote on PDR!! I went with the low quote, had pretty good Google reviews and 30 years experience but still FUBAR'd my door panel. Was just two dents, did cross the seam so not exactly basic, but got 3 quotes and nobody said it was an impossible job. Anyhow, he cracked paint and the area literally looks like a golf-ball. To fix it, has to go conventional body/paint now. And the joker who did the work is refusing to acknowledge any responsibility. Be careful who you choose for your work!
Couldn’t agree anymore. Furthermore.. Well, you see, there is a common misunderstanding when it comes to the art of paintless dent repair. Some people view it as a simple transaction, akin to purchasing a carton of milk from the store. However, this is a misguided perspective. PDR technicians possess a diverse range of talents and expertise, not unlike a plastic surgeon. When seeking the services of such a specialist, it is not wise to prioritize cost over quality. Instead, one should seek out the very best in the field, just as they would with any other professional service.
I’m a lifelong Automotive Technician for a major dealership…….always gravitated to the auto body aspects this is on another level !! From grinding ,shaping and the almighty Bondo!! To this !! Totally appreciate this !!! Keep up the good work!! Got my attention!! 😎😈👍🏼
I’m getting into PDR. Never heard of it in my life till I started as a detailer at a collision shop. I’ve see our PDR guy’s paychecks. Aside from the pay, I like this kind of work. Very excited about the future.
I could watch these all day. I had not even heard of PDR before last week. Turns out that we have a highly regarded PDR shop in the area. My car went in today so that two dents that have been irritating me for 4 years can be fixed. This really is magic. Thanks for the videos explaining the process!
THANK YOU MYKE! This is definitely a technique combined with an art form. Patience is obviously a major factor cause you can always do a little more as you cant remove your mistakes as easily once made. Its an almost lost art as good paintless dent repair guys are very hard to find. Hopefully more people including insurance companies utilize this field whenever possible in order to grow the field. You are an excellent teacher! I only wish you would have shown us how to properly use the heat since you mentioned it. People need to stress how important is is to salvage the original paint whenever possible for many reasons! Thank god for people like you posting these videos! You demonstrate true professionalism Myke! May God bless you well! Do you ever use dry ice? Or is that an over rated myth? I have seen old school bodymen use it on larger bare metal jobs combined with heat but not on paint, Thank you!!!
Excellent tutorial Myke! Can't imagine why ANYONE would give a thumbs down? Every time I watch one of your vids I learn something and that's what it's all about, becoming a better PDR tech! Thank you
I’m very new to this process, so it’s wild to me that you were able to make such a difference with starting out tapping down the outside of the dent. Seems so counterintuitive. Really cool process and great info!! You’re an artist!
I was doubting at first when he started tapping from the outside, but that's why I'm watching these videos, because he knows what he's doing and I'm trying to learn.
I'm just picking up PDR as a hobby or maybe a side hustle. So as usual I'm binging on videos. Not gonna lie, you had me fascinated when you started tapping down the perimeter and the center started coming out.
My husband and I are Content creators in the PDR field, and you sir, ARE ONE FINE TALENTED MAN!!! My Husband Garth Peterson is constantly talking about you!!! 👍 not promoting but PDR-Petersondentrepair is where we show our work, and Garth constantly tells me he will be as good as you he hopes someday!!!!
Well tell him thank you. He will be as good as long as he takes his time and wants to consistently do the best job he can. Continued success to both of you. 👍
8:46 "Rock it, Rock it on the deeper parts. Coming down here to the bottom, I can Pin point it with the tip. You can rock it from one side and swing more aggressively from the tip. Or you can slide it down like that with pressure in the shaft."
Mesmerizing to watch!!! You're a wizard. When I took my car to get its dent removed in Wisconsin at this shop called Acci-Dent, they let me watch and It was a great learning experience and just interesting in general. I want to become a mechanical engineer and work on cars so this stuff interests me a lot :)
I just discovered these videos. I find this process fascinating. I am 57 now and retired but getting bored fast and looking at a new field to get into. Would you recommend this as a second career for someone my age? Of course I want to be my own boss eventually. Would you set up a brick and mortar or start a mobile service. I was looking at doing a mobile service focusing on a repairs like this. Small and "quick". I say quick because I was thinking this was about 3 hours max.
Well done 👍 That light is worth its weight in gold, being able to see such subtle detail. Very cool and skillful work. Do you find the newer vehicles more difficult to work with or do they have more forgiving materials? ✌🏼🍻
Thanks for the question. Depends. Todays cars are like beer cans. Very flimsy. However newer vehicles are going aluminum and that is twice as difficult. Older vehicles are like tanks but metal is much easier to shape with less chance of oil canning.
You are a magician. Here in Germany, the average garage never does that kind of damages on edges like this. They want to change the whole part or at least want to use putty and paint.
I can finally see what we are talking about , with the reflection of the light , it looks like it has a design in the center of the dent , 08 .. As he taps , you can see that image shrinking. pretty impressive to manipulate metal like that.
I'm doing some repairs on my girlfriend's dad's car and it has a dent on the rear wheel arch about the size of a fist going over the body line, I got most of it out but damn its hard to get good, its quite addictive though and now I find myself wanting to buy better PDR tools lol.. I think what i struggle most with is knowing how hard to knock down on the high spots like i don't want to cause a bigger problem.
How do you set your camera up to see the dent but at the same time not interfere with your line of vision to fix the dent? Just play with adjusting it until you get it or what? May seem like a dumb question but I've been trying and having issues.
Take a mono pod and put that camera in front of you and fix through the display screen. However it’s more trickier than that but also depends on what camera/phone/lens and distance.
Hola amigo!
I realize it would be quite a hassle but it would be awesome to have a camera underneath showing the whale tale and a split screen showing on top. Front and back views. Awesome video thank you for the lesson. 👍🏻
Myke. I live in Ohio but I have a BMW M5 parked in La Jolla at my brother's house and it has quite a few dents that need to be popped. Is this something that you would be interested in? Can I have him get in contact with you to get the car in for repairs?

A year later, did you pursue? How's it going?
I could watch these all day. I had not even heard of PDR before last week. Turns out that we have a highly regarded PDR shop in the area. My car went in today so that two dents that have been irritating me for 4 years can be fixed. This really is magic. Thanks for the videos explaining the process!

BIG skill set shown here. You’re not going to learn this in an afternoon! Kudos
This is one of the best examples of how to tap down.
Great job Myke, thanks for posting
This is some of the most fascinating and satisfying work I've ever seen on youtube
Reading that light is giving me fits. How are you prepping area with heat? Thanks so much!
No heat necessary on this dent. Now if it were aluminum.. well different story. Thanks for watching. 👍

We teach a lot of woman how to do this. 😉
Also check out our online courses too denttrainer.com thanks
Thanks for sharing your skills, Much appreciated from Lismore NSW Australia
1st question. How did you determine the crowns when u said here are the crowns. Is it by look and feel of the surface. Look of the light. Or both?
Hat off to you guys for explaining the paintless dent repair. Dent Trainers are1#. 👍
Very admirable skills right there!
Thank you very much!

Excellent video.
You are quite the Craftsman.
Thank you very much!
One of my first PDR videos and research....great work! Thanks for posting!!
This is therapy to watch
Hey Mike where I can buy those tools?
👍 great in depth tutorial

Hello good time Thank you for your good training I wanted to ask what is the brand name of your bars?

Nice Job Bud. What should the temperature be when you heat it up? Thanks!
Der beste lehrer! The besst
You are a magician. Here in Germany, the average garage never does that kind of damages on edges like this. They want to change the whole part or at least want to use putty and paint.
That start made my week
Buen trabajo Myke, felicitaciones desde Mexico
I have a video fixing car bump you can see it in my channel guys. But we use different strategy to fix it you can see it just visit.
I have background in auto restoration. Starting from scratch, how long does it take typically to become proficient at this?
There is no right answer but I can assure you that if you have lots of patience, you’ll learn faster. If you don’t, this trade won’t be for you.
This is amazing it's like magic!
I can finally see what we are talking about , with the reflection of the light , it looks like it has a design in the center of the dent , 08 .. As he taps , you can see that image shrinking. pretty impressive to manipulate metal like that.
Man that is incredible.
Did you use round or flat pivot tips?

I havnt even started and cannot wait to try the pdr kit on all 3 of my vehicles:)
That stripped lamp is genius
That was nice repair slick
Amazing, an big hug from Brazil
Can you share the link to buy the tools stick used repair from the inside?

Insane how quickly it started coming out
When doing this always tap the paint with the metal tool. It really helps the clear coat.
Excellent vid!
What were you using for leverage with the whale tail?
When using the " killer whale tail " and you say slight rockin ; are you using a left to right motion , like twisting it?
Hi, can you tell where I can find to buy same or similar light? Or do you can note light model I can try to find myself.
How much did that repair cost the customer?
Is heat needed if you’re working in a a garage at home and it’s 90+ degrees outside?

Excellent video. 👍🏻👍🏻
Myke, for a guy just looking to work on his own cars what is a good tapdown/knockdown to start with? Thanks!
Ditto here
There are three types. R4 with cherry cap, VIP 2.0 and a black plastic mid point (like a bullet tip) from Dent Craft as well.
hi, I love the video and the lines on the car image, did you use a filter to get that or a special light?
Thanks Myke as always Great Work !! Be well !
Is there a school for this? Would love to learn this skill set
Talented man.
Wow a real artist my friend. Could use your help with my Harley gas tank.
Hi what’s best if there’s an area you can’t get behind as it’s double skinned
Amazing !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You sir... are an "artist".
I realize it would be quite a hassle but it would be awesome to have a camera underneath showing the whale tale and a split screen showing on top. Front and back views. Awesome video thank you for the lesson. 👍🏻
😴
Oja
Este señor es una Bestia, de seguro debe ser un muy buen entrenador e visto cortos videos y el acabado es Magia 🪄
You said 90% of repairs should have heat. Ideally how hot do you hit the panel to ?
With the raised crane tool you are using the back side not the tip is that correct?
Using the rounded back sharp area.
I had no clue the amount of science that was behind this very impressive
I have a video fixing car bump you can see it in my channel guys. But we use different strategy to fix it you can see it just visit.
where do i go about getting one of them lights at
Did/do you heat up a bit before lowering/blending or does it depend?
LOL-never mind-just heard you say it. Great information and awesome work!
What type of tool are you using to hit the tap down?
what's that light you're using?
Excellent job
🙏
This is ART !!!
Will this work on my Macbook?
Many thanks for news

Myke. I live in Ohio but I have a BMW M5 parked in La Jolla at my brother's house and it has quite a few dents that need to be popped. Is this something that you would be interested in? Can I have him get in contact with you to get the car in for repairs?
Absolutely. He can text us 858-943-9676 thank you.
@@denttime Awesome! Thanks for the contact info. I will relay it over to my brother. Talk soon.
👍
Would be nice if you would have included the lost segment between 7:58 & 8:00.
It’s not lost. Full episode is on denttrainer.com 😉. Thanks for watching.
What was the total actual time to fix this dent? The video is only 10+ minutes, but I'm sure you are not showing all the hits, etc.
Hey Myke which light are you using? I'm trying to decide between the 18" PDR solutions and elimadent but not sure
I was using a custom light made from Ultra wide 2 feet by 13 wide.
@@denttime haha damn! I should have guessed, you have all the good shit 🤙🏼
So I live in a school bus and I’m skilled in a lot of things. This is what I want to get into. Can I join your team shortly?
