- In this video, we’ll be looking at the top 10 Fun and OP Racials removed from WoW up until Dragonflight. This will include a handful of abilities that are in the modern game, but only in name only, since those abilities from the past are completely different from what they are in the modern game.

It's important to note that when BFA came out and they changed the Blood Elf Racial away from an interrupt, they purposefully placed a ton of dispellable mobs in the BFA dungeons just because they knew a ton of players were blood elves from Legion, and I guess they wanted to lessen the bad feeling of the nerf to some extent I guess
Also in tbc it didn't give you energy back as a rogue, it was strictly mana
Don't forget raids as well. Horde had a MUCH easier time on prophet in uldir, since they just needed at least 3 blood elves, where alliance teams needed 2 priests (while also dropping a ton of mana on mass dispel)

Surprised not to see the OG Will of the Forsaken that not only broken fear/charm/sleep but also turned you undead for 5 seconds effectively making you immune to not only those spells but also polymorph as well, while making you vulnerable to turn undead. To say it's a shell of it's former self is an understatement lol.
Fun fact: Turtle WoW, a private, Classic + server, has implemented Plainsrunning *as well* as giving Tauren their Kodos. You do have to buy mount training to be able to use it (your toon is "scared to run too fast" otherwise) and do a short questline, but it's totally worth it. It really is a lot of fun to be running by somebody on their mount and /wave-ing at them! :D
I am one of those plainsrunning tauren in twow and im absolutely in love with it! You can even combine it with the the shaman water-walking ability and zoom around on water. I has a gradual acceleration when you activate the ability until you reach full speed and its honestly very well implemented. You are not allowed to use it in battlegrounds though since it would obviously be an unfair advantage however it is imo amazing for mob grinding and ressource farming since you dont have to remount every few seconds.
Imagine being such a degenerate you have to play illegal servers because the normal servers dont scratch the itch anymore

I'm still salty about the troll racial that was 5% increase damage to beasts or something like that. Rarely used, but was kind of cool. Then Throne of Thunder came out, a bunch of people started running trolls since there were like 4 beast bosses (I can think of 3, the second boss, the turtle, and Ji-Kun) and so it got hit with the nerf hammer and was made TOTALLY USELESS by having it now give 20% exp for every beast killed... wow.... really comes in handy with my capped troll shaman character, thanks blizz.
I think that the priest racials is prob the coolest class fantasy concept to date. aside form artifact weapons
God, I miss old Arcane Torrent. It was such a nice cooldown. Don't get me wrong, new Arcane Torrent is great also, but I will never forget being able to silence mobs whenever it's needed. I particularly miss it for some Mythic+ dungeons. Looking at you Darkheart.
I would like to note, while you said Elune's grace (TBC version) gave you dodge which does NOT work while casting or from behind or ranged attacks at all, it was broken because it just made attacks strait up miss which meant even while casting it worked. The broken part of it is that interupts could just miss while using it where if it was just dodge chance it would not affect interupts
honorable mention, every man for himself or will to survive now was really strong that most people rerolled human for pvp to have on use trinket and alacrity
Will of the forsaken walked so other racials could later run. Best vanilla racial. Hands down.
I still think that Blizz should add plainsrunning into the current game, but just have it work like the Worgen version does and have a “mount up” cast.
Imagine a Tauren doing a run-up pose during the cast time.^^
Honestly Id kinda like if instead of a mount up cast it took some time to get max speed similar to the old one, but then it would end with slightly more than normal mount speed.
And additionally I wish worgen had an instant cast instead of cast time

I really miss the old combo of special abilities I had as a belf priest back in tbc. The loss of arcane torrent as a silence was very sad lol
Just a bit of a correction here: The Draenei aura were two different versions, depending on the class you played. The physical focused classes (warrior, paladin and hunter) had Heroic Presence, giving 1% physical hit chance and the caster focused classes (priest, mage and shaman) had Inspiring Presence, giving 1% spell hit chance.
Kind of surprised not to see Fear Ward in this list. My memory of vanilla is that dwarf priests were considered obligatory for a lot of PVE content because of it.

also surprised to not see will to survive aka every man for himself as well from wrath all the way to wod (it was nerfed in legion) literally a free pvp trinket built into your race, meaning you could go double dps trinkets as a human
I have fond memories of being a troll holy priest, but still specced into the stun from shadow magic in pvp, hex of weakness and the random stuns from Shadowguard was a real pain in the ass for melee sometimes :D

1:20 Plainsrunning is also part of the reason why the Kodos mount where launch unfinished, and in Vanilla Classic they have no animation when you hit spacebar while standing still or even sound when running, also they get stuck in doorways and other places where any of the other mounts can pass through with no problem.
Before I even watched this I said to myself : Arcane torrent is #1. People complained about that ability FOREVER. Legion was the icing on the cake. It was so good.
You forgot to mention for draenei that some classes was 1% physical hit or spell hit. Forget which each class were but it wasn't just hit
it was aleays just hit. In TBC, if you played a spellcasting class, this racial was called Inspiring Presence, instead of Heroic, and just gave spell hit. Whrn wotlk came out, the inspiring one was removed, and then they merged the racials, so they gave both hits percentage.

Mana tap / Arcane torrent were especially great for tanks. Mana tap was good for even better chain pulling for when you ran out of abilities, while arcane torrent was great for grouping up mobs even tighter since casters would be brought closer in.
Also NE stealth should be on this list. Adds a lot of interesting dynamics to the game when random classes could stealth, even if they had to remain stationary
hiruma, you are so right that blood elf mains are pissed about that change, my main is a blood elf paladin and I came back to the game in bfa to find out what they did to arcane torrent and I am still furious about it to this day.....
The Vanilla human priest Feedback spell was very funky : it was a weapon enchant that would proc a mana burn on melee hits, most likely a remnant of early class designs that had the priest with a melee component.
I still had fun with it in conjunction with the Hand of Edward the Odd, trying to proc instant cast Greater Heals.
You forgot the reworking of the most overpowered racial to ever be created.

The whole reason I rolled a dwarf rogue was so I could detect and steal any treasure chest I came across. And when you're bored or farming, it was an amazing way to score free items.
* tauren, worgen, pandaren and pretty much all "x-en" races in WoW plural for is the same word as singular, so not taurens for example. Notably, this also applies to Draenei.
Arcane torrent into disengage as a belf hunter was pretty decent. Just time that mellee trying to stun you and flip away.
Arcane Torrent is still pretty good for blood elf paladins in retail. It gives +1 holy power also. I’ve used it a ton in PvP when im holy power starved because all my generators are on cooldown.
No perception? That was a free win for rogue v rogue in arena back in TBC
You really should put the priest racials in a single spot on videos like this.
I wish they would add in helpful raid/party buffs for other classes again instead of just letting everyone have a lust mechanic. I miss being able to give my party members a buff with my blood presence as a DK. DKs are meant to be the Antipaladin, but anti doesn't necessarily mean different, it could mean similar but opposing. Dks having some pally like buff abilities would make me feel better and more wanted than just as a AMZ user.
Running on all fours should've been allied to happen without cast time. And allowed indoors but with a time limit like say 6 seconds or something.
It's dumb that a worgen suddenly can't get down on all fours while indoors and still need 2seconds to bend down and walk om all 4 limbs.

As a BELF priest in the TBC arena I loved using arcane torrent. Paladins drove me nuts in classic PvP so TBC felt like sweet revenge. Arcane Torrent and Mass Dispell for the bubble allowed me to just eat paladins alive.
ik another reason why arcane torrent got changed was because of the solo priest killing argus and interupting the boss with said racial ability too

Well yeah, it was broken
And the orc ancient racial blood fury was a 25% strenght increase and dotted you for 25% total hp damage as dot.
It seem useless except for some fury warrior ? Well, yes and no. In pvp, it was a "impossible to sheep or some cc" button, since you keep damaging yourself.

I guess when those mythic dungeons came out, all the ally in the forums went boohoo. Like they didnt have a race with builtin pvp trinket.
Also while not removed,just given to other races too, the dwarven Fear Ward was the most OP racial spell in Vanilla if you raided Onyxia.

The only thing WoW has removed that I want back is Gladiator Stance. I want to be able to dps as a protection warrior.
Arcane Torrent is still super nice in keys, just not as good as stone form or shadowmeld
You messed up on your description of Arcane Torrent. In TBC (and TBC Classic) if you have 3 stacks of Mana Tap and use Arcane Torrent, the ONLY change is how much mana/resource you regain; there is NO change to the duration of the silence NOR to the AoE distance of the silence. I kinda laughed when I saw the incorrect info around the 16 minute mark on that aspect. I bloody wish I had a belf who had a ~25 yard AoE arcane torrent with a 4 second silence! That probably would've broke PvP even more than it already was and made a lot of salty morons even saltier for not knowing how to counteract Belves.
I remember Arcane Torrent being required for the first Mythic raid of BFA and finally tipping the faction imbalance in the horde's favor

I have serious Mandela effect for feedback, I swear it put and enchant on your weapon that restored mana one time when you meleed on priest. Maybe I'm crazy.
I miss spirit as a stat.
U forgot about the human ability to see stealthed players easier when casted…even blizzard admitted they were removing it because it was OP in pvp

Surprised j thought human pvp trinket that made me think since wotlk or cata that human was soooo good in competitive pvp it had to be reroll worthy, like I was told to race change my draenei to a human or I wouldn't get to climb
the arcane torrent change was one of the reasons i quit, just became bored with the game as well but i fired it up one day and went to pvp and hit AT and it didn't silence them and i died because of it.
edit: i know it sounds like a stupid reason but i was so angry at the time.

Arcane torrent saved my paladin's butt more often than I'd like to admit. Didn't help that various groups refused to interrupt....

Surprised you didn't mention Tauren's Endurance +5% health. Blizzard nerfed it in WoTLK.
I love how all got nerfed and they then made shadowmeld the most OP racial in the game. Interrupt anything targeting you. Drop combat and fly off. Stealth and stun as rogue and druid. It needs nerfing still.
Mana Tap was way better than what it got replaced with...

Nope, M+ had nothing to do with the change.
It was simply PvP.
Alliance bitched too much about it. It finally got nerfed.
The original patch notes announcements even said it was because PvP, which made non PvPer's even madder.
Mana tap and Arcane torrent to complicated... what kind of simpletons play this game, I liked having mana tap to use as a range pull for paladin tank, as it was single target and fast cd it was there for every pull. the other range pull was Avenging shield and it had the high threat and can hit random cc target... well it was a long time ago but still the "lore " reason is acceptable. good video, walking down memory lane :D
Elune's Grace is definitely NOT a Holy spell. I play shadow in Vanilla and you can indeed use both NE spells in shadowform
Maybe it was the part of "some changes" Blizz did in 2019? Or was it the case when wow originally launched?

i cant believe you forgot will to survive aka every man for himself from wrath-wod... it didnt just remove stuns... it removed cc IN GENERAL. it was literally a pvp trinket built into your race as a human... making humans BY FAR the most popular race for pvp and pve too... how it didnt get put into number 1 or even 0 is beyond me... it got nerfed in legion to only remove stuns
Shadowmelt or the dwarf racial is missing, ability to play around mechanics, even forcing m+ teams today to go nightelf
So they didn't make his "Top 10" list. He wasn't going over all of the gone racial.
Because the list is about removed racials. Shadowmelt and Stoneform are still in the game

i miss when the choosing had consequences, for example if you chose to play horde you cannot play the mission from the alliance (gilenas for example) or if you were alliance you cannot participate on horde plot etc, the same for races if you chose to play as a race only for the look good for you, but deal that maybe that race is the best for the look but not for the performance of the class everything is so meaningless now
When Blizzard gave us a decision with a consequence recently (choosing a covenant in SL), people cried until they made it easier to "reverse" that decision, lol.

I would argue that my favorite racial ability is Vulpera's Campfire. It's a 2nd hearthstone, and I wouldn't give it up for the world.
Belf racial was fun, but way too strong. Now they need to nerf shadowmeld because M+ and arena its the same balance issue

Glad for the plainsrunning thing. It's look dumb on the worgen and that was multiple expansions later. Also I can't imagine paying for riding to just . . . start running on all fours.
