      Hanabie are their own thing only comparison is the iconic Japanese band, Maximum the Hormone. Matter of fact they started in middle school as a Maximum the Hormone cover band. As for next song I would go Pardon Me I Have to Go Now, then Tousou and Be the Gal Summer Edition. I saw them live last fall and they were monsters live, all 4’10” of Yukina crowd surfing and all. Their is very little proshot lives out their but they kick ass live.

      Every Hanabie song is fire. You can't go wrong.
      I recommend Otona Blue by Atarashii Gakko. They are not metal but a lot of metal fans love them. If you like Babymetal and Hanabie there is a pretty good chance you'll like Atarashii Gakko. Even tho their music is very different.

      @@RustySabita My first Hanabie song was Tousou and immediately after I wasn't sure what to think. I was basically just "wtaf was that!?" 😂 This was the second and I thought it just as insane, but absolutely brilliant. It has this "empire strikes back" thing going where the "big battle" is right at the beginning and then several very different segments happen, yet somehow arrives at a perfect ending 😁 The next thing I thought was "surely all their music can't be like this?" Spoiler: it is. Others have already mentioned it - Hanabie have no bad songs and they never pull any punches. All the music is made by their guitarist who is clearly a bonafide prodigy of everything hardcore and she seems incapable of failing even though she's experimenting most of the time. Band of the decade in my not so humble opinion 😉

    Welcome to Harajukucore!
    Hanabie (Ha-na-be-eh) refer to their distinct sound as Harajukucore, a mix of metal, punk, electronic, pop, and rap. The name comes from the Harajuku district in Shibuya, Tokyo which is famous for its trendsetting street fashion, shops, and art scene. You can definitely see and hear those influences in the video.
    Hanabie are Matsuri - guitar, vocals, compositions. Yukina - clean and harsh vocals. Hettsu - bass and chorus. Chika - drums. Sae, their old drummer, is featured in this video.
    Here's a link to a great 10-minute interview with the Hanabie while they were in Connecticut touring North America. - th-cam.com/video/PCWYQ31Es2U/w-d-xo.htmlsi=-OsqfvsAQA2WQhk4
    A few song recommendations for you - 'Otaku Lovely Densetsu'', 'Be the GAL - early summer ver.', 'NEET GAME', 'Envy', 'Tousou' (run away), and 'GIRLS NIGHT' being the newest video. Their newest single, 'Metamorphose', doesn't have a video yet but the audio is available.

    They were at the Download Festival in the UK this past June. They've been touring a lot so at some point they'll be back in the UK.They have toured Australia opening for Limp Bizkit. Their harsh vocalist, Yukina, came out and joined Fred Durst on a Limp Bizkit song. These Japanese bands don't stay in a subgenre, and Hanabie maybe the most diverse of all. Just take a box full of metal subgenres, punk, rap, EDM, etc. and dump it into a blender and out comes a Hanabie song. I think their fans coined the term "harajukucore" for their style, named after the Harajuku ward in Tokyo known for its youth culture and eclectic fashion.

    This is why i enjoy first contact reactions to Hanabie,
    The facial expression, as soon as Yukina start growling. Kawaii changes to kowai, wich means at least strange in japanese.
    Quite a voice for suchg a little one. She is something around 1.50ish..
    You seem quite new to that japanese Metal reaction thingy. Its getting a bit boring, always the same suggestions. Nothing really new.
    Lets see if i can steer you in a more intressing bearing for japanese music in general.
    There is Band called Saiseiga. I really like Regan with her Voice. What would be the best song to introduce Saiseiga. let me think.. got one:
    --> [Official Video] SAISEIGA - sink
    Or if you really like to have trip down the Rabbithole.. You knoe BabyMetal, i guess. This band combines two genres, Idol and Metal.
    The Idol part is quite intresting since its quite popular in Japan. Idol is mainstream, bute there is also Alt Idol. A genre i really enjoy.
    Would like suggest somenthin in kanji now, wich is the main barrier to good japanese music. Its a Group called Mercuro.
    --> 【公式】神聖不可侵絶対領域
    All good things are three, a quite common one in germany.
    an other alt idol group with a story i like, but unfortunatly without a good ending. This Band is called Mad Medicine
    --> アリス心中 / MAD MEDiCiNE【MV】

I'm surprised that this time he didn't bother Rei and Miyu (two friends of mine) directly in their comments like he usually does. Nu metalcore is just a portmanteau of... you guessed it - nu metal & metalcore, and is assigned to bands that can be said to play both genres to an equal extent. This is not really the case with Hanabie, but considering how hard it is to pin down their sound it kinda makes sense to attach this label to the band. In Japan Hanabie play genres called "loud rock" and "mixture rock", which do not have Western counterparts, so to describe their music they adopted the name "harajuku-core". While the harajuku part is borrowed from the fashion they wear on stage, the idea is that just like the fashion their music grafts elements of other genres onto a main body of metalcore in a mix & match manner. What that means in practice is that their music genre is somewhat fluid and depends on the concepts they're are going after and what they have to say about them. Like if they want to sing about video games (happens often) the electronics get ramped up and they get closer to electronicore. Or if the two singers end up having a lot to talk about they switch to rapping as a main way to deliver the verses, so they get closer to nu/rap metal, etc. The band is currently in its 10th year (the fact that they started playing straight up death metal in their teens and made it work is just mind-boggling to me) and is currently working on their 4th record. Each of these has a distinct vibe to it even though all their music is immediately recognizable as Hanabie.

      Matsuri, by the way, is a hereditary metalhead, her father plays bass in a band.
      Also, in Japan, music education is compulsory in schools. Each school has not one music teacher, but several. In elementary and middle school, music is compulsory, and in high school, students go to music clubs, from where school bands appear, and there are competitions between schools for them.

    Set your notions of genres aside; the Japanese approach to responding to foreign cultural influences has always been to take the parts they like, mix with their own traditions to create something suitable for Japan, and ignore the rest. You can see that in spades in the world of popular music.

    Hanabie (Ha - Na - Bee - Eh four syllables) is one of the best Japanese metal bands. Apart from Hanabie, only Maximum The Hormone manage to mix different genres, speeds and styles so perfectly. Basically, it doesn't matter which Hanabie song you listen to next, because this band doesn't have a single bad song, whether with a music video or without. Thank you for the pronunciation. I'll try not to butcher it. Lol. I love that they mixed genres. It was ear candy. Thanks for the recommendation. 🤘🙌

      @@RustySabita they're OK but they are manufactured. Unlike these women and bandmaid etc who write and produce their own work. In fact hanabie are a development of miku kobato's original idea for bandmaid. Cute maid costumes contrasting to hard rock. (it also helped her pitch to the record company, she'd worked in a maid café and knew her marketing).
      They started out in the Tokyo clubs driving around in a van, humping their own gear and selling their merch. Miku made the costumes and Akane booked the gigs. So it pisses me off when people mention them in the same sentence.
      Bandmaid just did a collab with the Warning, not a man in the loop from the first idea until the studio master, except for the studio tech who has been around for years.
      It's important to respect the vibrant Japanese independent ock scene, especially the females.
      Supreme production from kanami. Three studio days

      @@stevekane4922 actually Hanabie's look was vastly different in their early days. They had the typical metal grim look, with dark hair and bloody clothes. They were just adapting the style other metal bands were having, but found out they didn't quite vibe with it. They decide to say "fuck this" and just put on clothes they were more comfortable with.

    There is no "eh" in Hanabie ... but there is a “false explainer” here who will try to tell you there is. Simply go watch the one minute video with Chika the drummer telling you to say Han-nah-bee-yay with 4 syllables here ... "The RIGHT WAY to say "HANABIE" ‪@HANABIE_official‬" and you will be an expert in no time if you simply copy what they say ;) .
    Anyway, we have loved sweets for a long time :p . 3 1/2 years actually. This was done when they were still independent. Matsuri the guitarist writes most of the music assisted by Yukina, Hettsu the bassist styles the band. Speaking of Chika above, she was not the drummer here ... it was the previous drummer Sae (their third drummer). The band puts on a great live show. I saw them just last fall.

      Sorry, "yay" is not correct either. Vowels sound the same as Spanish or Italian and are all pronounced separately a (ah) i (ee) u (oo) e (ā, a long 'a' sound) o (oh). two words, hana + bie; 4 syllables pronounced with even tone (no stressed/unstressed) hah-nah-bee-ā. I realize I studied Japanese for 2 years so it's natural for me, and not everyone else has, but the insane amount of '"correct" pronunciations people put out there is...insane, when it really is a simple pronunciation as far as Japanese to English.

      @@Vitericus1 Sorry, but all you need to do is follow the band ... and you are not. I see the parade of fake IDs has started again to falsely make it appear there are "so many people" ... lol. I think Hanabie has studied Japanese for longer than you so I will just watch the video and go with their version.

      @@PANIC_aka_PinD I know how the band pronounce it; in fact, I've met them, and unless my sensei forgot how to speak his own language...Please stop doing the same thing you're accusing of others of. You don't know the language and are telling those that do they don't know how to speak it. You *think* you heard Chika say it *this* way, that's what you're going off, but you got it wrong. That's all. I prefer to stay friendly so I won't make any more responses.
