Serve as a Soldier is one of my favorite mods, turns you into just one of the rabble in any lords army. You get outfitted with state-issued weapons and gear, and follow the lord around in their warparty. You can even earn enough honor to have fiefs deemed to you.

Started my first playthrough a few days ago. Didn’t know how to increase army cap so had 5 T5 imperial archers and 15 veteran legionaries, a good sword, a good companion and some good gear and money. Fought some mountain bandits but their friends came to help and I still initiated combat. 45 vs 20 and I got it down to 7 vs 3 but then I was knocked out. Everyone died and I was captured. I lost my remaining money on a board game and now I’m destitute and wandering as a vagrant looking to gain back my glory. Gun game but I have lots to learn.
This sounds like how my first playthrough will probably go lol. I bought the game a couple days ago and haven't even really played much, just watching videos. I feel like there's so much to learn lmao
Aside from my tip about area practice the next most important thing I would say to a new player is to avoid looking into exploits, I was glad to see this video deliberately avoided them. If you don't know about them most won't be things you stumble into during the first several hours of playing. But a lot of them once you learn about it can be hard not to use them and they will trivialize the game. Honestly unless you're struggling with a mechanic I would say don't even look into any of the background things that go into it or you'll quickly begin to exploit the game without explicitly being shown how. The scope of this game meant the team had to choose between robust systems or functional systems and they did a really good job if you're just looking to have a fun RP experiance.
Few comments about the Archers Unit Micro section. 1. If you have a big group of archers (100+) often times loose formation would be too big for all your archers to fit, especially in a foresty/bumpy terrain. 2. If you're archers have the highground, putting them behind your infantry could work. Think about the line of sight. If the archers are firing above and behind your infantry, your good. Also, that line of sight could also apply to what formation you have for archers as well. You can make line-formation with archers work as long as they have adequate spacing between.
I went to be a vassal of Vlandia and got assigned lots of fiefs, and then couldn’t defend any of them. I keep losing all my troops no matter what and can’t afford to defend my fiefdoms.
Great tips! Just started on Ps4 a couple days ago and I am in love with this game!! Definitely struggled to get my bearings in the game but I am moving along nicely now! Thanks for the tips!!
One easy tip ive noticed for leveling up tactics without much risk. Find very full bandit hideouts of any kind. Bring skirmishers with your crew , set them in a line get them to follow and set them to open fire. No idea why but like every 2nd bandit killed by the skirmishers throwing weapons increases your tactics. Unintentionally discovered it in my newest game where i got my tactics skill up to like 40 in the first weeks from just clearing hideouts.
I haven't played it for more than year, and I must admit it is great, much better than I expected. Like when you issuing command time slow down. Thats insane. Currently I am trying to join kingdom and after I have good town I will start rebelion.
My first play through is rough. I didn’t realize everyone would declare war on my in the first week of my new kingdom (spent a lot of time cutting off heads from a kingdom that imprisoned me a lot.) and so I made a giant army with my companions (700+ units) and that took some figuring out, but when I go to take my first city I only had 100 troops on the field. It was really upsetting and idk how to fix my troop deployment. That’s how I ended up on this video.

1 huge tip I would give to new players or returning players is to do practice arena fights. They have 0 risk, will let you use a wide variety of weapons, get you some gold, and will let you level up several early combat skills. Just about any time I take a break from the game I'll run a few just to get the handle on combat again. Practice arena battles don't even take in game time so you don't have to worry if you keep dying. Just click the go again option and you're right back into it.
I like going to empire towns and practice fighting in the arena. Theres a place to hide in the arena and you can just kill one guy, get his shield, hide away and kill the last guy. Boom, easy 250 denars. Very nice if just starting out.

just got into my first playthrough, despite knowing zero about how to do things my king has gifted me 3 fiefs for some reason and I have been warring with the desert kingdom for a week now. made 150k and have enough influence to do whatever I want. the game really is easy.
Same here, just become a mercenary for a bit and then ask the king if u can become a lord of that empire and when the kingdom goes to war just start beating up other lords and soon you'll have a couple of fiefs and then boom you'll have 100k gold easily. Only problem I have is keeping my fiefs in high loyalty, any suggestions?
1st playthrough is going ok, except a few things I think I've missed out on marriage and creating heirs character is 48 now, I'm not always happy about the time limit involved in quests especially the main quest, but I don't like time limits in general in games
I need a guide that holds my hand man, I'm right at the beginning after your sibling bails. No clue what to do. Looks like fun game but got so frustrated, didn't pick it back up
First playthrough is going great! Joined the Battanians, married Caladog's daughter (with only 1 save scum lol) and was awarded the first castle I helped siege! Only thing is, the available wanderers are not very skilled (only 1 with 60 medicine, for example) Do more wanderers become available as time goes on? Or am I stuck with 1 scout and 1 medic the whole playthrough?
My first play through died quickly. 2nd one too. 3rd one is going strong, I'm serving the Battanians currently and I might pledge the dragon banner to them. I have 1 city and 4 castles, Caladog won't let me have anything else though.
All great tips with the caveat that I love when people start off or have the opinion that the game is too easy but if you suck enough that you need to do anything other than win, do what is in this video. Would have subscribed and gave more props u til I realized your statement about how easy the game is even on highest difficulty instantly changed that thought.
@@interherbasse6902 im sorry i gave you a wrong information The button says "disable battle death" so we cant stop the aging on our character But it will take a really long time before death by old age will become a problem for your character
@@interherbasse6902 you cannot disable character aging on consoles. "because of technical reasons" according to taleworlds, which makes no sense. But it's really not a big problem. My play trough is kinda annoying I got granted one castle in the vlandian faction but have captured 4 more settlements sinds (2 on my own) but the king keeps giving it to other people
Im a sturgian that has been approached by vlandia early on to become a merc then i joined up with them and have 2 castles and a city under my control however i cant wait to become independent and then just start executing every general that i capture, only one thing im terrible at siege defence was hoping you would help me with that but you didnt touch the subject.
Got some of them seasoned wolf's onto the wall it was so epic watching them eventually get killed 1by1 but they slaughter the low tier troops beautifully
I finally worked my way up to a meager 40k denars and a band of 78 fighters. Won a siege i decided to help and was granted the castle and two lands as my first fief after becoming a vassal for southern empire. All of a sudden my daily upkeep fee went to 1,800 denars and i got caught joining a Rhaegas siege on the next castle by the enemy troops. Their 2000 against my 80 so i surrendered, and got carted around the bottom of the map until i had 0 denars left😂😭😭
See my wall of text on how to get started in these comments, that will get you started properly. To win you need to be efficient. When I beat the game 6 months ago only 1.7% of players had done that, so yeah, its very hard and takes weeks to beat this game.
With mods does anyone know if it works if you don’t buy the game from steam? I’ve got bannerlord from game pass so just wondering if the mods from steam will work?
My sturgian character hasn't won a single victory not even against looters. With 20 sturgian recruits I can't take on 5-10 looters. They steam roll over them. Idk if I got a broken version of the game
How to get started and how to beat the game. I beat the game twice so far. The first time I beat it about 6 months ago an achievement like notice popped up and said only 1.7% of all players had conquered the entire map. The second time I beat it there was no update to that stat so I have no idea how many had done it by then. It took a few weeks both times. I am on my third world conquest now. Keep in mind I don't just win it right off, I get my ass kicked and have to start over - a few times. I have never beat it with the Empire, only with Khuzaits. I got very far with Aeseri - the desert people but I was up against 3 empire and the game turned into a loss. What is cool about this game is that there are so many things you need to do RIGHT to beat it and sometimes you just need luck too. I always sign up to serve a king first and when I beat the game my original character is dead and my relative is now the main character, it takes 2-3 generations to conquer the entire map. You can do things right and still LOSE. You need to do things right but you also need to do the right things to win this game. Even then, it can just screw you. You need to be efficient, always keep your party size only to what you need. Especially early on. If you use a party of 18 to take on parties of 25-40 bandits you will make a lot more money and waste a lot less money on wages. Don't run around with party of 50 early on because you will just lose gold. Do the tournaments, you get great gear and you can win horses that sell of a lot of gold. Gather companions at Taverns and use the tournaments to gear them up. Companions are your best troops. Some companions at the Inns are weak or have shitty personalities. Use them until you find a better one then simply go outside of town and tell then to hit the road and go in and pick up the better companion until you have a good crew. There is one good strategy game at the Inns that you can play - I think its at the Empire Inns - its really easy to beat it on defense and you can make money like that. Other Inn games suck. Smithing sucked. I found it to be a complete waste of time. Tournaments and buying weapons is much easier and better. So here is how you get started. Dont hire the shitty troops - go to all nearby towns and pick up like 10 of the 50 gold troops do not hire the shitty 20 gold cheapies. Using those 10 good guys kill every bandit party of 20 or less you can find. Once you kill a few groups of bandits go to the nearest city and cash out by selling loot. After you have a couple of thousand gold you can get your party up to 18 or 20 of the better troops and that is the time to start doing tournaments and games at the Inn because you can bet a lot of gold. Now you get this groove on. Take the easy quests to take out bandits or bandit camps and just kill bandits. Once you are loaded with loot go to the city, cash out, do the tournament and bet, do the Inn game and bet. Rinse and repeat. When you cash out before you SELL use the best loot to gear up yourself and your companions then sell the excess crap. Also you can gear up the hired help by paying gold for upgrades. Put the dragon banner together and follow that quest line. But always make sure you keep your party size low and that you dont waste money on buying gear you can win at tournaments or find on bodies. Be efficient. Save money. That is how you get started right. There is a LOT more to know to beat the map. But efficiency is always important. I would say that once you make your first 30,000 gold go to a town in the country of your chosen people - the ones you intend to support - that is far from the front lines and buy a trade there. Pick a trade that is EASY to support like making beer or tanning hides or pottery. Do not waste time with silver or iron because it's too hard to find. Every time you get another 50K gold buy another trade. You can then go to the warehouse in that town and stock it and select a requirement for them to use warehouse stocks. You can select them to leave 25% of their goods in the warehouse. Then you just pick up those supplies and drop them at the warehouse periodically and pick up finished goods to make money. Also, sell them in another city, they usually sell for more in a city that doesn't have the trade. Don't sell pottery in a city that makes pottery. My preferred build is a 2 handed axe with a bow and a polearm. Late in the game you ca get a cool polearm called a Rhombius or something like that, its a sword on a stick and you can ride and slice people where they cant even hit you back. The 2 hand axe is also good for that but you need to get in close and can be hit easier. I NEVER use siege weapons, NEVER. Just ladders. Survey the walls before you attack and pick the best side where the catapults cant hit you and where they have less walls to shoot you from, find the weak spot and run there to set up ladders. When you get both ladders up you need to take your bow out and kill the fools at the top of the wall that try to push your ladders down. Once you kill them and have 3 or so people on each ladder they cant push the ladders down. Once you get people on top join them and unite them to form a bridgehead on top of the walls. I use F1/F2 to say follow me and F1/F3 to say charge to gather my troops to me then set them on the enemy. If they have a lot of weak militia and few regulars in the castle you can beat them with a 1.25 your people to 1 theirs ratio. When they have many regulars or just a LOT of people you will want 2 to 1 ratio to win. More troops for you is always better but more is also wasteful. There is a LOT more to know about how to strategically attack the enemies, how to lead the army in combat, how to engage the map properly, how to win favor cheaply, how to gear up your crew. A LOT more. So if have any questions or need tips just respond to this post and I'll answer any questions you have that I can. I have been gaming for over 35 years. This is the BEST strategy game I have ever played. It's also the hardest one to beat and has the best gameplay. Cossacks, Age of Empires, Medieval Total War are all great strategy games too but none of them are as challenging and as complicated as this game.
I been captured at least 50 times in 3 days. Every time i start building a decent party my faction starts a war with half the kingdoms and im stuck behind enemy territory and eventually bump into a bigger army and get captured. Then i build my party up and create an army to try and take castles but while i siege the castle a stronger army shows up and i get destroyed. So for now i just avoid conflict and raid villages were at war with. Yet somehow i cant stop playing this game.
Try to stick in the borders or just outside of the borders of your kingdom, use your party to take out enemy parties or small armies that are doing incursions on your land. This way you can build your party experience, get better loot (or sell it for cash), and weaken the enemy army. Always take enemies prisoners, you can either donate them to friendly dungeons or execute them, that is your will.

@@sweetnightmare1191 honestly mine don't seem to care, I have the production going up and the parties going. Makes them happy and loyal
I'm on my I think 4th playthrough, I have the realistic battle mod installed and it's really fun
I definitely did not know about the reserve option for sieges and I’ve been playing this game for a long time
How do you put siege weapons in reserve on console?
Just press a on the siege machine and a tab to move it reserve will pop up press a on that
I’ve got over 700 hours and I found this video refreshing and I did not know about the companion list or the reserve siege engines.
Looks like fun game but got so frustrated, didn't pick it back up
thank you for these informations. great video.
There were some really helpful tips here, Cheers!
You gotta go around the map visiting different taverns, they usually move around, but there’s plenty to choose from.
Idk if it works in bannerlord but once cheats are enabled ctrl+click on map to teleport
that siege engine tip… thank you.
Great video, mate, Big Thanks!!
Great tip on the seige weapons, thanks
Will you be able to do a video of realms forgotten bannerlord plz
My first play through died quickly. 2nd one too. 3rd one is going strong, I'm serving the Battanians currently and I might pledge the dragon banner to them. I have 1 city and 4 castles, Caladog won't let me have anything else though.
All great tips with the caveat that I love when people start off or have the opinion that the game is too easy but if you suck enough that you need to do anything other than win, do what is in this video.
Would have subscribed and gave more props u til I realized your statement about how easy the game is even on highest difficulty instantly changed that thought.
Can we stop the character from aging i dont want him to die (ps5)
Disable death for the player character
Its near the button to activate ironman mode after character customization
@@thewhitestormtrooper5697 i didnt see the option when i created my character but thanks
@@interherbasse6902 im sorry i gave you a wrong information
The button says "disable battle death" so we cant stop the aging on our character
But it will take a really long time before death by old age will become a problem for your character
@@thewhitestormtrooper5697 i think i disabled it but my character keep aging
@@interherbasse6902 you cannot disable character aging on consoles. "because of technical reasons" according to taleworlds, which makes no sense.
But it's really not a big problem. Takes a long time to age and die, usually have conquered the whole map. And if not, if you play campaign you have siblings, if not you can get wife and children. You can level their skills up before you play them, so when you do they will be as good as your own character.
My play trough is kinda annoying I got granted one castle in the vlandian faction but have captured 4 more settlements sinds (2 on my own) but the king keeps giving it to other people
Hello, can you tell me why they don't give me every castle that I conquer, I only have five castles
Love the video! Thank you for making this!
Is there a way to turn off character death in sandbox mode after game is started?
My question is how do you recruit the triarri, hastati, or principes?
I wonder, how do you put the companions in separate group in battle view?
Great video. I've played about 500+ hrs, altho I'll have to restart alltogether since the new version broke all my saves...
Hey can you help me pls, I conquered bunch of castles and towns but king doesnt give me towns and castles. How can I get that castles management ?
How do you active the cheats? I can’t understand what his saying
How do you do that cheat on PlayStation?
With mods does anyone know if it works if you don’t buy the game from steam? I’ve got bannerlord from game pass so just wondering if the mods from steam will work?
My sturgian character hasn't won a single victory not even against looters. With 20 sturgian recruits I can't take on 5-10 looters. They steam roll over them. Idk if I got a broken version of the game
Is the advance command the same as engage on console?
@@bonk5316 thanks man. I somehow just started doing just what u said last week and i just fought everyone that was near me. My troops leveled up so much that I hardly take casualties now. I randomly looked at my money and influence and I literally grabbed my glasses to check if i saw it right lol. I went from 40k to 600k in gold and my influence from 100 to 2600 just by staying near my towns and fiefs and just fighting enemies that cane too close. Too bad I miscalculated and left the valandians to start my own kingdom and been a rough couple of days and now im probably gonna have to abdicate. Im poor and my town is starving and i can’t protect ny 2 villages lol
If anyone liked the music that was playing check out Jethro Tull Bouree.
Honest question just got it on ps4 when it came out everything works but marriage I can pass all speech checks but when I go talk to the dad it won't let me barter I can just barter in general but the moment I go to barter for the marriage I'm stuck the bar won't feel it won't give me any option to even attempt to make a deal thinning is bugged but not the first clue to fix any ideas I've don't searched the web an nothing been posting this around hoping for some answers need to marry an have a kid before my dude dies of old age an no heir
I think you need renown stat to high enough. But not sure.
Does the cheat line work on Xbox?? Just for playabout when I get it
does it block your acivments if you use commands?
Bro where and how do you get the helmet with the jewels in it? It’s so Fucking Dope lol
Heat engine is only for PC right ?
Do you know if/how you open the cheat menu on console?
How you sprinting like that?
I only have an Xbox one. Is it even worth it to buy the game though? Will the performance and processing power on an Xbox one even be sufficient?
Great Video !
thank you, great tips!
The best carvery is imperial maxed out.
Can we use the cheat mode with console edition? 🤔
No
You level tactics by giving commands during battles, not just by auto-resolving
Khan's guard is not only the best horse archer, it is THE best troop in the game. I completely gave up on archers, as they are so much harder to manage.
My biggest problem ATM ils that workshop doesn't produce anything. Dont Know if I'm doing something wrong.
There's a few aspects, whether or not the resources you're making have the supplies available from local towns, whether or not the resources you're making are even worth anything in the area etc
How do I feed my troops I would like to get a reply please
If you have food in your inventory they will eat it
I still remember the first time I tried Mount and Blade 1, I was like, what a piece of sh...! Until I pass the learning curve. Now, for me, Mount and Blade series is one of the greatest ever created.
Right on, its very hard and that makes it great.
You can hide trebuchets? Wow.
I mean it was obvious there’s something wrong about this entire mechanic. But I didn’t actually expect it works properly if you know how it works 😂 They should probably hide by default, having to press pause to get these few sec to hide is nuts
What does locking items in the inventory do?
Stops you auto selling when you bulk sell.
Playable on the PS4? Or not user-friendly enough?
Wtf. I didn't know about putting siege weapons in reserve. Surely it would have been a more intuitive design if they let us build them out of range of the defenders siege weapons by default. Why did they make it this way? I wouldn't be surprised if a few people on the dev team missed this trick.
