I focus on tournaments right out of the gate, especially the ones with horse prize...sell them, rinse and repeat...Super rich pretty much from start and getting decent armor

thats a good idea, nut you can only win those by setting it all to easy mode ;) you dont have the armor to win
Keep in mind that a child's culture is determined by their mother. You may want your direct heirs to be the same culture as yourself if you want them to have the same cultural bonuses. Though, having some relatives of another culture can be very helpful when you need a governor of a specific culture for a city/castle you own. Also when marrying off relatives be aware that if a woman gets married she becomes a part of the husband's clan and leaves her own.
Another good use for noble prisoners after battle is that you can take them to an ally's castle or city and put them in the dungeon (assuming the dungeon hasn't reached capacity). You gain influence and relations with the the settlement's owner based off of how important the prisoner is. Additionally, a prisoner is kept out of the war until they are either rescued or have escaped. However, they are automatically released once peace has been declared between the two kingdoms.
in the campaign youll get brother and a sister of your own culture so if you marry another culture youve got your own culture siblings and diffrent culture children

When you use N to bring up your known people list it will mostly be grayed-out. To find people to marry, talk to as many lords or ladies as possible. This means talking to armies on the map, and gaining access to keeps in towns and castles to talk to the nobles there. Not all of them will me marriable, but as shown in this video there is a filter.
That is a great point as that was recently added with one of the new updates. I have yet to start a playthrough with that feature, i will need to check it out
I was getting so frustrated with how awfully annoying smithing fatigue was. Little did I know I could use my companions for that as well! Thanks a lot!

Another tip to piggyback being a mercenary is to do your best to raid enemy caravans. A round of captives from caravans can pay about 5k in addition to the loot or you can donate them as prisoners for reputation.

@@ramchiserts8614 Thanks! I just learned about it yesterday in my own game and was blown away by how much money I was making off ransom and equipment loot. I was hovering between 10k and 20k and after raiding about 5 caravans I nearly had 100k.
Additionally: something I forgot to mention is that your Influence shoots up so you get money from that too which offsets your payroll cost. Honestly war time caravan raiding is very, very lucrative if you can catch them. The one big drawback is that you absolutely will lose troops doing it as even with numbers on your side expect 5 to 10 losses of good trained troops.
Be mindful of the travel distant. Long travels cost time and resources.
Don't be afraid to have some lower tier unit in you force. You will be growing all the time so having some lower unit working up is easier than trying to get a large group of low ier units to rank up.
THe biggest tip is to know your warband size limit and that is not just the stat limit. Make sure the size is the size you like to travel at and your income can handle to force comfortable. There are time that tI am riding around with a band around 25 units where I could have over 100 because what my goal is at that time.
Just fyi guys; you can lose this game lmao; I’m powerful personally, but the kingdom I rule is constantly under siege by everyone; I switched to sandbox mode and im doing way better

I suppose it shouldn't surprise me as I'm not one to pay a lot of close attention to the little details and haven't made big plans for what I'm doing with my characters or anything... but watching this and discovering that you can switch between characters when smithing?? I was wondering why I'd want a companion with a high smithing skill because that seemed pretty useless to me unless it just automatically added to my own ability somehow. So thanks for showing me there is still a ton I have to learn about this game. haha
it took me awhile to learn that too but is so valuable for smithing! There are a lot of mechanics that they don't make completely obvious, but the game is much fun its worthwhile to discover them along the way.

@@ramchiserts8614Game is lowkey a pain at times on controller lol. The cursor moves insanely slow. When I'm buying food, let's say I need 25 Cheese, it can be faster to spam L1 25 times than to use the cursor to drag stuff to inventory.
@@cheesemuffin8129 that is brutual! I love this game and I genuinely do not think i could play it on controller. Hopefully the combat at least feels nice with the controller tho.
I don’t know how I did it but I have around 190k mid game. Sold pretty much every equipment that I didn’t think fits on my play style and that’s it.

Nice for running solo but if you wanna start a kingdom I suggest saving up 5 million
I've done several playthrough, tbh idsay play however you want, I've done a playthrough where I literally capture and execute everyone I come across, ivs done play throughs as a merc, a smith and a trader, honestly the game is designed for you to play how you wish to play. Best part is, you dont even have to do anything and the game still progresses, so you can watch the war of Calradia unfold as you please...
i completely agree, i think the ability to play as you want and watch the world unfold is what makes this game so amazing
I just started playing and managed to woo Siga of the Nordic people. I wanted her cause i was a touring gladiator and she kept being my last fight. Being a warrior myself i wanted her to be my wife. Now we travel city to city fighting in the arenas and shes usually the last fight. Its amazing. No matter who wins the last fight, my clan still wins 😂 so cheese

I'm new to this game, I went on sandbox mode and agreed to be a mercenary for the vlandians, I had 6.5m gold pretty quickly somehow, can only assume it's what I was being paid for being a mercenary, but as a result, the vlandians became incredibly weak, again, can only assume it's because they gave all their gold to me

He was applying attribute points, which is stuff like Vigor and Endurance. Focus points are stuff like One-Handed and Medicine.

Can you establish a multi-faction kingdom? Or are you limited to clans from one particular faction?
once you have a kingdom you can recruit clans from any factions you want!
@@ramchiserts8614 Hmm, so as a random lord or mercenary, I cannot do so?
Clans are comprised of other lords and rule cities and castles as well as lead parties on the world map which can form armies or join your army if you are part of the same kingdom/ they are part of your kingdom.
You can recruit troops from any faction you want at any point in the game and have companions and family members that can either be part of your army and do skills like mentioned in the video, govern settlements on your behalf or form their own war party which acts independently on the map but can like other lords be called to form an army (=multiple war parties acting together) with the added benefit that your companions don't require influence to be called upon. Depending on your companions' cultures they will be better at governing settlements of their own culture than you (if you aren't of that culture).
So you can create a multi cultural army, rule over multiple different cultures (e.g. if your kingdom captures a city from another faction and you get rewarded with it) and in the game due to wars and clans occasionally changing their allegiance there will be a natural development towards more diverse kingdoms.
As a random lord you can rule fiefdoms of multiple cultures though be only part of one faction (be it your own or joining one) and as a mercenary you can't have any holdings of your own so you can still form a multi cultural war party and group of companions but not a fiefdom (capturing your first settlement makes you declare your own kingdom, otherwise you can only be bestowed with a conquered settlement if you have pledged your allegiance to the faction, not as a mercenary)

As soon as i start a new campaign, i just go straight to Debana and marry her to sell all her horse related itmes for around 65,000 denars and of course, she has the best armor you can get.
And then there is me killing off all of the lords and ladys... cost me my head myself one time😂😂😂
Tip number one: get a shield if (and while) you can't afford good armor
Empire culture is tied with bettainans.
If not better for mid to late game.
Having recently finished a campaign I would agree. The need for influence, as well as time spent in armies, makes their bonuses SUPER helpful.
Warning for ps4 players saves corrupt late into a game had 2 40+hour games deleted on me

On picking the spouse does it tell you what their anxiety level is at lol
... letting my enemies go? But... but in my headcanon... my character executes other lords in high positions, shes a brutal conqueror... I've already completely destroyed mutiple clans, and 2 kingdoms in this playthrough. All executed. And in reward the game calls me deceitful for killing my enemies. Empire 4 life tho.
I ransom off the weak people, though... usually lmao.
This is the kind of games where even if I don't succeed on a campaign I don't feel bad to start a new one over and over learning new stuff each time and trying new paths.
100% agreed, i had to restart a few time till I got the hang of it but it was fun learning each time!
See I did it differently I made a lot of money with Caravans and then made big armys married my daughters to lords for their sword and loyalty the ones that said no lost their head and in time their "friends" changed their minds about me after they see how I give to my people who are loyal this is the only way I've ever ruled all the map but it worked I've ruled for 4 generations of Kings now under 1 kingdom

Why
The HORRIBLE advice for new is telling them to smith. That leads to them realizing how easy it is to make money. I can't tell you how many times they get late game, cant waste time smithing and then are spending too much and go broke. Learn other ways to make money so you never go outside your costs or if it ever gets nerfed. Be prepared
