Been trying to watch guides but they are too confusing eventually. Wanted one where someone is just playing a game but explaining what they are doing, for a beginner. Finally found this and finally making more sense.
This is probaly the best "tutorial" set I found for HoI4. You're fun to listen to, and actually show things in a practical way by just playing the game.
A quick tip for when training divisions. If you are training them so that they get to regular rank, I find that it's much easier to press SHIFT at the same time as the 'train' button. This will only train divisions in the army (or army group) that are not at regular or above (the only ones that need to train). This makes your life easier, as you don't need to separate the divisions that you want to train into a new army, as it will ignore the ones that don't need training. It will also automatically stop training the divisions once they are at regular experience, so that you don't need to remember to stop training them.
I played Italy on Recruit level and by 1941-42 got my ass kicked.... Even though I had taken Cairo by 1940, and then up to Syria, I had still lost all of Ethiopia and its Rubber supply. I had no man power at all left and my fleet was kaput by British and French... in fact the Yugoslav war went sideways and I never achieved victory there because the UK... which seems to never run out of Troops and neither does the Free French and their fleet. I reloaded a few times but was never successful in Yugoslavia.. I wonder if it was a decision I had made early befriending the Axis? Anyways I need to figure out more Manpower.. I could only get 3 stacks of 24 division and another group of 8 and 10 divisions.. and 2 mobile groups numbering a total of 8 units
For new people, you can shift click the cog wheel to train your troops to only train the ones who need it 11:40 , up until they're max rank. However continuing to train them will grant you more army xp which you can use to upgrade your doctrines (global army buffs) at the expense of a temporary huge health debuff and equipment
Probably one of the best tutorials of this game, a great way to either learn or polish your game. A great deal of effort and patience went into this one - well done!
I'm I glad I found you, a good tutorial. I didn't even know you could put men on different front lines with just one general. I thought all 24 units had to go on whatever front line your general is on, but you moved your tanks out of Europe. I have a million questions I could ask you about this game lol, so thank you for simple but great tutorial.
Dude!! I consider myself a non-beginner, and learned a ton of small stuff I did not know about! Your naval tutorial was awesome and now I find out you are doing this! good job! like it a lot. Subscribed.
@@Tripptheripp That's the latest DLC as of this video. It's not all of them. Some features are from other DLCs, like Together for Victory, for Instance, or Death or Dishonor.
@@Flight_of_Icarus fair enough. Im still learning hoi4 and the hli community i kinda thought if u have the latest dlc it was normally assumed you have all of them.
I've watched several tutorials, but when I'm playing Italy fighting against Ethiopia, I always end up running out of supplies. I don't really understand how to resupply my men especially when they're not fighting at the main land where trains can reach them.
Good vid for beginners. Unfortunately, information on how to play this game and specific countries is very lacking or outdated. Most of the higher up players don't share strats or secrets so that they can always one up their opponent(s). I've had to make my own notes on each nation with a focus tree and important non-focus tree ones like Sweden, Bulgaria, Brazil, and Ireland. After having 2000 hours in this game I'm still learning new strats and meta shifts through observations. For instance, Bulgaria is now the Air Controller (AC) instead of Hungary, cause Hungary can get really good heavies. As a result, Germany is now back to doing mediums instead of heavies but that is still up for debate. I've always mained Italy, UK and commonwealth due to the high supporting role they play for each faction. Don't be afraid to ask for tips from higher skill level players, the worst they can do is laugh, cuss, or say no to you. Again, it is highly recommended that you record info if you are someone like me who takes breaks form HOI occasionally or who likes to min max everything.
I am noob so when I join Axis, Czechoslovakia refuses for sudentenland and Germany declares war and I have to be in war too even though I am not ready and I am really missing a lots of resources 😔.
It happened to me to, I didnt knew how to play and i had to restart the tutorial. Now im like 1.2k hours and playing a lot of MP. Didn t remembered this one anymore ty for a good laught
Mordred Viking so ww2 started and I got my navy rekted but I am over running the allies in Africa and manger to take all of Egypt and the Middle East idk much about the navy so I’ll have to get better at that also taken Yugoslavia idk but it took me loads of fail attempts to get this far probably like 3-5 or more I’ve noticed Italy has eh for tanks and I’m not producing enough heavy tanks to even make them into templates and I’ve notice my troops are better without them and I’m not using tanks till I get more factories
Bergy1968 tried his very best to guide me through his own tutorial of Hearts of Iron IV and recommended your tutorial this way I can watch again and again and not bug Bergy1968 when he is doing his artwork.
This cracked me up, I'm sorry. You did a great job Mordred, just so you know. Can you imagine going to a youtube hoi4 tutorial and the guy doing it barely talks? Haha

Hey, I just wanna say you've got a great talent for explaining stuff. Great series!

Indeed, a very good tip! Not sure it was a thing when I did this series :)
Hello great content.. just started my Italian Campaign.
I played Italy on Recruit level and by 1941-42 got my ass kicked.... Even though I had taken Cairo by 1940, and then up to Syria, I had still lost all of Ethiopia and its Rubber supply. I did have a large Air Force but deleted all of the old subs and some old outdated air units.... frustrating.
JuergenGDB Italy is only support

400 hours in, i'm definitely an HOI4 noob and this was pretty helpful.

i have over 1000 hours on the game, yet I still found this very helpful
Very glad to hear! :D
Probably should clarify that this is with all of the DLC included. Not everyone who buys the game will buy it with all the DLC right out of the gate.
Which mods or DLC is he using? Its been so long since I have played.
No mods, and all DLC.
he named it "man the guns" isnt that the name of the dlc? unless im mistaken

Shall be watching these. Cheers
Vittoria mutilata is there because italy won in ww1 but they didn’t have territories that england and france promised
We got not all but we would havr been better if stay neutral in war ww2
Musolinnj had good idea but he side with worst man of europe and too natiolist
And racist
This tutorial is kinda out of date for me, but it's been really helpful so far. I just picked up the game so I really appericate it.
Thank you! I was confused about army composition and drawing front lines/troop orders and this tutorial helped a lot.
Glad to hear :D
I’m so glad you put this out!
This is a very good video. I found it recently and it was very helpful. Thanks.
Glad it helped :)
I haven’t played this game since the death or dishonour dlc, playing democratic Italy vs a buffed Germany
It’s come a long way, especially with Man the Guns

This is excellent, thanks👍
exactly what I was looking for, thank you
Hi new to the game. Why does MV have details on his generals but mine don't? is it an expansion? if so which one?
Yes, you need Waking the Tiger
Yay! Beginner stream reached YT!
I am noob so when I join Axis, Czechoslovakia refuses for sudentenland and Germany declares war and I have to be in war too even though I am not ready and I am really missing a lots of resources 😔.
I'd recommend having Historical Focuses on for your first couple of runs, stops things going completely insane.
I have ~1000 hours of HOI4 just playing with cheats. I'd like to really get good at the game, but my PC performance like demotivate me...
I get that bug as well, don't worry. It's not just you! :)
i tried the tutorial in my first game, i got decimated by Ethiopia
Keep trying :)
It happened to me to, I didnt knew how to play and i had to restart the tutorial. Now im like 1.2k hours and playing a lot of MP. Didn t remembered this one anymore ty for a good laught
I am playing Italy as my first country on hoi4
Good luck :)

Bit hard to explain how a game works in silence
