Do you think he writes his own parts? To me this screams a guitarist who programmed a drum map. And considering Courtney and Mikes (think thats his name) relationship and how common that style of writing is it would make sense. I could be wrong, I wonder if they've talked about the writing process in an interviee somewhere.
I love hearing instrumental parts of songs I love because I can find little things in the mix that sometimes get lost with the voice... Like I just realized that piano part that doubles the melody of Courtney in the chorus to give it more power...
Note to Zev...I have been playing drums for over 50 years and thought I was pretty good...until I heard you! Hats off brother, you've got the chops and the groove and play in the pocket. I don't think you realize how good you really are. Keep it up !!
As a fellow drummer I followed this kid on instagram for many years and watched him progress. I messaged him a few times telling him to keep up with his passion and i told him he would make it in with a pretty big name. So happy and proud of this kid for how far he has come. Well especially during small breaks like here (ie no multitasking requiered) it's really not that uncommon and many drummers do it. Really sweet drumming nevertheless.
All the drums have been programmed, according to producer Daniel Braunstein. Not sure if Zev writes the parts now but none of the drums are natural. Zev is a beast for sure though.
@@freedomcall76 Yeah I watched one of his streams during quarantine. I forget which song he was writing, but he was programming the drums. Does he really write bass though? Those are some intricate bass riffs for someone who seemingly doesn’t employ hybrid picking in his guitar playing.

Absolutely love this song, and this playthrough. The drumming is so well-balanced--a little flare, but not too much, and always so solidly in the pocket. Sick.
Zev your talent and skill on drums just blow my mind! I literally just got introduced to Spiritbox last night. My co-worker was like check this band out from Van Island. One thing that both Zev and Vlad from Jinjer do really well is the mixed tom/kick fills. I can't get enough of that shit.
