Compared the village to the ants really contrasts how both societies work. Having the ants have a cooperative society and each ant helping the other out.

I feel free here... but also a bit lonely. Can't have it all, i suppose. But i wouldn't go back to the village nevertheless.

I like that there's plenty of interpretations for this. An example is i think the village folks were not necessary wrong people, but wanted goods times without regards for their actions. They pointed fingers for the murder. When building the gallows, the lady eat apples, the husband shares, the clerk is drinking with people and the old lady is nice. They do the same thing as usual. Once however the gardener is gone, everybody is lamenting and returning to their flaws habits. They built the gallows from someone else efforts, and won't even try to make some themselves to have good times again. Sadly it depicts our society, where we always wait for people to make first moves, myself included.
