I got to meet Johnny at a local comic con and asked him about the Turbo season. Guess he wouldn't have minded finishing the series, but sheesh... EDIT: Also the Phantom Ranger does have a sentai counterpart. He was called VRV Master
It would have been such an AMAZING plot twist if Dimitria was actually Divatox in disguise the whole time. Not only would it make her apparent uselessness actually part of a long-game scheme to waste the power ranger's time and keep tabs on their activity like Master Miller in Metal Gear Solid, but it would also act as a connection to _In Space_ where she leaves the command center with the Blue Centurion, the command center gets destroyed in their abscene and the Blue Centurion gets ambushed and destroyed by who he thought was Dimitria but instead was Divatox all along. It would explain their absence at the end of Turbo and would make Divatox destroying the command center make way more sense.

I was already encroaching "too old" by the time "Lost Galaxy" came out. I was just invested and, much like Conner, I thought the female Rangers were just so pretty! Anyway, I had such fuzzy memories of "Turbo", mainly because life was really sucky for me while its run was going on. Reviews like this fill in the gaps and, in a weird way, are kind of like therapy. Hoping you get to do "In Space" and "Lost Galaxy" to round out the original Fox Kids-era Rangers.
The Phantom Ranger was in Carranger, he was not a ranger and he had very little screen time though. only having major roles in a handfull of episodes and a cameo in one or two. He was VRV Master, his design was inspired by the film The Wraith, starring Charlie Sheen
Personally as someone who watched this as a kid, the movie and the ending are the only thing I could recall until a few episodes like the robot one were triggered. Watching this one thing that is kind of weird when the base gets attack is that TJ says the Rangers are "in it until the end" which implies their death. Justin is freaking 12 years old and TJ is just making that decision without any contemplation. They probably should have teleported him to safety. That being said the finale and segue into "In Space" is something I can still recall 20+ years later (and this being the first time I have seen it since) which I think says good things about it as I could not tell you how Mighty Morphin segued.
Exactly the same, they didn't showed Turbo much when i was a kid so the only things i knew where: they have a movie, the change the cast, blue Senturion is there and they get a complete defeat at the end
My take on justin is he was exactly the type of character the blue ranger role originally was in mighty morphin, The really smart and insightful backup to the red ranger.
I'm 34 and I grew up watching all this. A couple years ago I got sick and had to be home for a week or so. I ended up rewatching the old era on Netflix. Its funny I never liked anything after turbo when I was a kid but I really ended up liking the "new" team on the rewatch.
man i had the turbo and mmpr movie collection as a kid, and i wore the tape out on that vhs. i didnt even know this was tied to Zeo and wondered what Kat was turning into Pink Zeo for.
I should mention that Johnny Yong Bosch send in a panel that there's a 3-hour cut of the turbo movie where when Justin gets character development and they show footage of them losing their zep power and mermaids for some reason
8:24 Super Sentai had their own kid ranger a few years before. In Dairanger, Kiba Ranger(where the White Ranger suit comes from) is a kid who becomes adult-size when he transforms.
Thanks for your great job man! Very appreciate it. Keep going, you have our support. Would be glad to re-watch other seasons by your review, and after Zordan Era's too. Love u!
I love this series so much! Watching your MMPR video really sparked my interest in power rangers again. I can't wait to see where you take this series. Keep up the good work!
Great video! I personally enjoyed Turbo and liked with work that came about with TJ's team even if it meant we losing the cast that had been there since MMPR. On a side note, the Turbo movie mentioned that Justin's mom was dead and that he was at the children's shelter because his dad was having to rebuild their lives. It's why we only ever see Justin's dad during the few spots we see him: they're moments where he is able to do things like celebrate Justin's birthday or find a way for them to be family again. I had a buddy who went through that and related to Justin as a result. Anyway, great video like i said!
Might be worthy pointing out that besides Big Bad Beetleborgs, in Japan both Dairanger and Ohranger saw moderate success with kid sixth rangers, Kou and Riki, the only times they would have kid warriors too (Until TQG and Kyuranger many many years later anyway). To have someone in the main cast be a kid at some point would not be far from source material.
I personally think that it is that easy to create a time go back monster, its just that it needs rituals and stuff to go back more than like a day or 2
Whatever it's actual quality,, I have such fond memories of the Turbo movie from when I was a kid. Pretty sure we still have the VHS somewhere, actually. Probably it helps that I was eight-ish when it came out and could pretend I was power ranger material because of Justin. I didn't realize until you played that clip, but the names of my favorite sleds were Mountain Blaster and Red Lightning after the Turbo cars--Storm Blaster and Lightning Cruiser. Also, we didn't have access to whatever channel Power Rangers was on, so the movie was literally all the sentai content I had to watch. Well, that and the first movie and a few random VHS episodes I had of Mighty Morphin'. Sad days, having no access to the cable OR the internet. Seeing your run through of the events has been AWESOME, since I'm finally getting some idea of what happened in the canon and how actors came and went. Thank you for making and posting these!
Just watched this and what an AMAZING review this was! I immediately went to your page hoping you’ve covered the next season. Way to leave us on a cliff hanger lol. Can’t wait for the next one from ya!!!!!!!
I enjoy your analysis of the power ranger seasons. I wish I would have discovered your channel sooner and i can’t wait for your analysis of Power Rangers in Space. It’s one of my favorite seasons too.
It really is interesting, learning about all the ups & downs of the Power Rangers franchise. The 2 Power Rangers movies were my main introductions to the series (my parents didn't let me watch the show during its original run) before getting into the series proper with Lightspeed Rescue & Wild Force during the Disney era. So I have a soft spot for both movies, despite how bad they could be at times. I still love the Turbo theme. Also, 1 Power Rangers season that did the comedy to serious transition best was RPM, since its Sentai origin was a similar tone to Carranger. Can't wait til you tackle In Space with all the things it put in, to go out on a bang.
apparently originally passing the torch was going to have all the Rangers that had left this series up to that point, so Tui, Austin, Walter, Amy Jo, and David Yost.
I just started marathoning this series a couple weeks back and couldn't make it through Turbo. I have been checking your channel every day to see if I can get the cliff notes 😂
I never disliked Turbo. Justin was fine and the Beetleborgs was awesome. Tommy and his crew left was sad but TJ and the new team carried the show forward.
Turbo was a definite mixed bag of a season. I enjoyed it but it was hard to watch at times, plus I was distracted by Beetleborgs on TV too. Beetleborgs is so another show you should look at if you are looking for some extra ideas😊
Personal theory is that, the samething that happened to Jason in the zeo happened to the rest of the rangers. The powers was unstable. Also santia was already using kids. The white ranger was a 9 year boy. The gold zeo ranger was a preteen.
The finale is my second favorite to Space. It is the first time the Power Rangers just lost. And it was great with it being a dark end and made Space even better. Also I’ve always loved the Rescue Megazord and so happy I was able to finally get one two years ago.
I remember watching this movie multiple times as a kid, still don't know why I liked it so much, but I guess it's because I never watched the ones before! 😂
Cant wait for you to tackle lost galaxy which was my favorite season and magna defender is my favorite ranger of all time, love his design and his story
It is absolutely hilarious to me that you say TJ is always trying to be Bulk and Skull's friend over the one moment in the entire back half of Turbo where TJ was actually uncomfortable with Bulk or Skull.
To be fair to the casting directors, they might've hired Divatox on when she was pregnant because they couldn't turn her down. Not familiar with all of the details, but that could be considered unwarranted hiring discrimination, at least in some contexts. For example, if she could perform the job at the time of hiring, it'd be illegal to pass her over on the basis of the pregnancy. Or she could've just not told them, to prevent the possibility for discrimination, which is also fine. It's a Title VII thing.

Reviews like this fill in the gaps and, in a weird way, are kind of like therapy. Hoping you get to do "In Space" and "Lost Galaxy" to round out the original Fox Kids-era Rangers.
I have to be honest, I was already "Too Old" by the time the OG series ended... Yet, I still come back to watch the show... :)
The Phantom Ranger was in Carranger, he was not a ranger and he had very little screen time though. only having major roles in a handfull of episodes and a cameo in one or two.
He was VRV Master, his design was inspired by the film The Wraith, starring Charlie Sheen
THANK YOU
A freaking charlie sheen movie inspired a sentai WHAT?
@@ironmaster6496duh, winning!
When I tell you I’ve been WAITING for this!!!
Dawg please don’t stop covering the entire franchise
Really excited for In Space
My take on justin is he was exactly the type of character the blue ranger role originally was in mighty morphin, The really smart and insightful backup to the red ranger.
Rest in peace, Ernie we won’t ever forget you or you’re quitting jokes
He died? Jesus that series is cursed
To be fair in regard to parody. Going from The Machine Empire to Big Titty Pirate from Space absolutely sounds like parody
But it’s annoying though that the pirate defeats the rangers yet the machine empire failed.
The Phantom Ranger does have a Sentai counterpart, a character known as the VRV Master.
Interesting
🤣🤣🤣
I should mention that Johnny Yong Bosch send in a panel that there's a 3-hour cut of the turbo movie where when Justin gets character development and they show footage of them losing their zep power and mermaids for some reason
This series is so good man, really hope you go on until time force. Love your analysis and commentaries on important subjects
8:24 Super Sentai had their own kid ranger a few years before. In Dairanger, Kiba Ranger(where the White Ranger suit comes from) is a kid who becomes adult-size when he transforms.
He mentioned this in the MMPR video
Thanks for your great job man! Very appreciate it. Keep going, you have our support. Would be glad to re-watch other seasons by your review, and after Zordan Era's too. Love u!
every video brings me joy, its like hanging out with a buddy or long time friend when i watch one of your videos, please never change
56:58 In Yami Yugi’s voice: It should have been me, not him! It’s not fair!
Another well made retrospective..... Can't wait for the In Space retrospective. Keep up the great work, Conner 💪
I already mentioned loving you adding the Tales of Symphonia soundtrack to your videos being 😙👌🏼 but now Fire Emblem too?! Love it!
Riki was a bad ass as the King Ranger on OhRanger. Made that series a little bit more enjoyable for me.
Carranger : Let's take this serious story and make a parody series
Turbo : Let's take this Parody series and make this a serious story
🤦♂️🤦♀️🤦♂️🤦♀️🤦♂️
Love this series you do, the nostalgia kicks are so big
I personally think that it is that easy to create a time go back monster, its just that it needs rituals and stuff to go back more than like a day or 2
Turbo was weird and had issues but it did do well with the material it was given, like Conner said, this season is not NEARLY as bad as MEGAFORCE.
Was waiting for the next one! Thank you so much, I have really been enjoying these ! Can’t wait for more (:
I just binged all 3 of your season explains mmpr zeo and this one I’m already waitin for in space to drop!!
man i remember your much older vids your stuff always makes me smile
My biggest opinion on Justin is that him growing to full size when he morphs is hilarious to me
Watched the In Space one first but dude, keep this going. Its such a nice blast from the past.
Yay! This’ll be an ongoing series!
God you are so good at this!!!!!! I can't wait for future installments!!!!!!
Thank you for doing these types of videos on PR, Can't wait for IN Space!
Really love this content. Hope you continue and do all the other seasons 😅
Thank you for making and posting these!
i like this guy’s knowledge on pr and ss in general. love the video 🎉
Just watched this and what an AMAZING review this was! I immediately went to your page hoping you’ve covered the next season. Way to leave us on a cliff hanger lol. Can’t wait for the next one from ya!!!!!!!
i LOVE these power rangers videos! keep it up!
Tony was just giving me the know how about all the power ranger history and super sentai things he learned from you! ❤
I enjoy your analysis of the power ranger seasons. I wish I would have discovered your channel sooner and i can’t wait for your analysis of Power Rangers in Space. It’s one of my favorite seasons too.
I like that you detail each episode in your Ranger reviews.
Yea these are pretty good videos
You surprised me with this upload!!!!!!
Please keep on going!!!!!💪🏿💪🏿💪🏿💪🏿💪🏿
😂😂😂
Great video man. Cant wait til you cover In Space
excited for in space! AND I'M GENUINELY SO HAPPY YOU DO TOKUSATSU CONTENT NOW! I LOVED YOUR STUFF BEFORE BUT NOW YOU DO THIS! GODDAMN YOU'RE AMAZING
Yea these videos are good
Can’t wait till the in space video drops. Please keep this series going fr
Next.. the AWESOME world of Power Rangers in Space!!
Excellent video as always! Turbo is hard for me to watch because I am such a huge mighty morphin (and Tanya) fan. It was sad to see everyone leave.
apparently originally passing the torch was going to have all the Rangers that had left this series up to that point, so Tui, Austin, Walter, Amy Jo, and David Yost.
I love how honest your reviews are.
Off to watch your Space video!
technically amy jo did come back, just not as kimberly, just as a bystander in the newest power ranger movie
i mean koh from Gosei Sentai Dairanger was the white tiger ranger, he was a kid who became full grown as a ranger
I can't wait for wild force, Time Force, ninja storm, SPD and Mystic Force. My Top 5
Some of those I've never even heard of
@@bigjalapeno7061and they're all at least pretty good (most of them are even really good)
@@bigjalapeno7061 they're great seasons you should watch them
I just started marathoning this series a couple weeks back and couldn't make it through Turbo. I have been checking your channel every day to see if I can get the cliff notes 😂
Linkara/ Atop the Fourth Wall has a great series, too.
Lol damn
I never disliked Turbo. Justin was fine and the Beetleborgs was awesome. Tommy and his crew left was sad but TJ and the new team carried the show forward.
Turbo was a definite mixed bag of a season. I enjoyed it but it was hard to watch at times, plus I was distracted by Beetleborgs on TV too.
Beetleborgs is so another show you should look at if you are looking for some extra ideas😊
I still remember growing up watching the most of the episodes on the vcd that wishing well coins episode and i want that turbo morpher so bad
Time to binge again love these type of videos!
Umm actually🤓 Amy Jo Johnson made an appearance with JDF in the mighty morphin reboot 😂😝
53:57 I understand him because who the hell wants to start a conversation with "I am a dog and you are my owner".
So excited for this. Can’t wait for the eventual power rangers lost galaxy video.
Personal theory is that, the samething that happened to Jason in the zeo happened to the rest of the rangers. The powers was unstable. Also santia was already using kids. The white ranger was a 9 year boy. The gold zeo ranger was a preteen.
Nice use of F-Zero X music! I played the game a lot as a kid ❤️
The finale is my second favorite to Space. It is the first time the Power Rangers just lost. And it was great with it being a dark end and made Space even better.
Also I’ve always loved the Rescue Megazord and so happy I was able to finally get one two years ago.
Actually Mighty Morphin kinda lost in alien rangers
RIP JDF you will be missed
I remember watching this movie multiple times as a kid, still don't know why I liked it so much, but I guess it's because I never watched the ones before! 😂
I love these videos you make on Power Rangers!
Going down memory lane while cross with a lot of 3 Houses OST is a crash of past and present feelings of enjoyment for me.
Power Rangers In Space, Hell Yeah.
The Phantom Ranger was in the Sentai. But he wasn't as involved as the Power Rangers counterpart
Johnny Yong Bosch did forget to cut his hair from latter half of Zeo to first half of Turbo
Please keep doing these! Your favorite season at least as it's also mine.
41:11 he actually was on sentai, not as a ranger but as a villan or something
Cant wait for you to tackle lost galaxy which was my favorite season and magna defender is my favorite ranger of all time, love his design and his story
Theres a theory that says the zeo crystals were draining the power rangers life force. Thats why they had to stop using the zeo powers.
It is absolutely hilarious to me that you say TJ is always trying to be Bulk and Skull's friend over the one moment in the entire back half of Turbo where TJ was actually uncomfortable with Bulk or Skull.
i had the cd for this and i forgot it existed. watching this suddenly unlocked a hidden memory lol.
