Ditto. Reminds me of my dad, he looked ALOT like Barry Gibb. These were the days ...I was only a small kid but I loved watching my dad dance and teach me to dance to this ‘Disco’ era and jam to Classic Rock.
The Bee Gees take you to another planet. No one on the Earth makes sounds come out of the speakers like them. If that song "Too Much Heaven" were to come on over the grocery store speakers.... you would suddenly stop, forget what you wanted to purchase, and be transported into their world. That's the power their songs possess. They even wrote songs for others that you have probably heard and never realized that the songwriting of Barry Gibb (the one in the middle) wrote songs like "Grease IS The Word" for the movie Grease... and "I Am A Woman In Love" for Barbara Striesand, and so many others.... Barry Gibb and his brothers are 3 of the most talented singer/songwriter/producer band teams that has ever lived. I respect The Beatles, but I can't live without hearing and breathing in a Bee Gees song at least once a year. It's like the cleanest mountain air, and the most beautiful love story ever told.
The Bee Gees (RIP Maurice and Robin, the twins) were among the greats of the 70s ... the GOLDEN ERA of music. Now Javyvee, go listen to the whole album. No need to post your reaction because we already know that it will be exactly the same as this video. Amd when you're done with the album, go look at the movie, Saturday Nilght Fever. You'll here most of their hits in that one.
I grew up listening to them!! No auto tune!!!! That's how the 70's were!!! You would have loved that era!!! They did the sound tract to Saturday Night Fever!!! You have just scratched the surface!! I can tell you are a free thinker!! Love your reactions, never change!!!!
Music was so much better back then. No canned, no cookie cutter, everyone had different sound, talent. No matter your mood it could take you high or comfort you while low.
@@ronbertka I'm 65 and I don't agree. Don't be a fuddy duddy and close yourself off to young musicians of today. There are always excellent musicians in every generation. Open your heart to appreciate them.
@@i.m.7710 Ron, you misinterpreted the comment. We are comparing "apples to apples". We are referring to what was commercially and broadly popular in 1977 with teenagers back then, with what is commercially and broadly popular in 2020 with teenagers today. That is the comparison we are making. There are many talented 22 year old young people today. However, for many reasons that are too varied to get into here, they are not broadly popular with the teenagers of today. That is why we end up comparing "Billie Eilish" with "The Bee Gees", or "Justin Beiber" with "Stevie Wonder". If you truly believe that Justin Beiber is just as talented as Stevie Wonder, then I don't know what to tell you. LoL! Lastly, you conveniently forget that the technology (like auto-tune, pitch correction, quantizing tracks, etc.) that recording artists in 2020 take for granted and use all the time, did not exist back in 1977 when the Bee Gees recorded "Too Much Heaven". Back then all they had were their musical instruments, their divine talent, and their extraordinary musicianship. Yet look at the songs they came up with? Amazing! The musical standards in contemporary music were much higher back in 1977 than they are in 2020. Also the quality of songwriting was higher than they are today. In closing, I am 55 years old and have been a professional musician for 30 years, here in LA, and have witnessed a lot that has changed in the music industry. The culture has also changed and left it's imprint on the industry too - and not always for the better. In today's world, whether you can play an instrument in order to be called a great musician, is irrelevant. Back in 1977, it was required. I hope this gives you some key differences you may have overlooked, in the comparison being made between now and back then. A big thank you to the Bee Gees for this great song, and to record executive Robert Stigwood (RIP) for putting the whole Saturday Night Fever soundtrack together. He was the one who convinced the Bee Gees to commit to the project. Enjoy! Cheers, Sam.
I half believe that auto tune was invented to make lesser singers sound like the Bee Gees. I'm not a huge fan but, my God, they're good at what they do
Whenever I'm feeling sad, stressed out or depressed, I listen to the BeeGees. Some of their songs were ballads and I know every word of their songs. God sent me the BeeGees music to save on Psychologist, Rehab and mental health care. I owe Barry, Robin and Maurice Gibb for my sanity. I love Words, How Deep is your Love and the First of May. RIP Robin and Maurice. God bless Barry and his family. 💜💜💜
When you first hear the song it’s as if you never want the song to end and being born in 71 my family listen to everything from Bee Gees to Tina turner to Marvin Gaye to all of Motown and on top of that ABBA
The singer in the middle is Barry, the oldest Gibb brother. On each side are his twin brothers, Robin and Maurice, who are both dead. Their younger brother was Andy Gibb, also deceased. Barry is the only one left. The BeeGees wrote all of their own songs as well as many more for other singers. True talent like this doesn’t come along in a lifetime.
I'm 34. Before quarantine bee gees = weird high voice to me 🤣 I love How Can You Mend A Broken Heart but i thought they covers it because i thought they're supposed to be a disco group. And i vaguely remember Alone. And when i saw This Is Where I Came In on tv when i was young, i thought "why the guy with shades sings the song? Isn't the guy with long hair supposed to be the main vocalist? 🤔" Here i am now. Can't stop listening to their songs and loving robin 😆
Everyone has heard Staying Alive at least. But the Bee Gees are so incredible. They were. I can't imagine how Barry feels being the oldest and only one left. Andy the youngest Gibb brother died first, then Maurice and Robin. But they will always remain alive as long as we listen and give respect to the artists, the music, the love that goes into it that then comes out as fantastic art.
Jennifer Green I just watched a video with Barry the other night. He said he feels terrible because he and his mom have outlived the 3 youngest boys. But mainly he feels sad because when each of them passed, he wasn’t on good terms with them. He said it’s something he has to live with. So sad. And yes, they are incredible! 💜
The VERY FACT you are listening to this + enjoying it AS MUCH is SUCH a TRIBUTE to The AMAZING BEE GEES + proves music has NO age, colour, status or ANY other SEPARATION of the human soul........it's JUST MINDBLOWING MUSIC!!!!!!!
This really takes me back! Life was so much easier, kids could be kids and nobody got offended about everything...I really wish we could turn back time sometimes...Brothers Gibb were awsome! Great reaction!! ♥️💯
@I'm your Huckleberry Wow, I wish I had your collection! I would love to be able to listen to that music all day long and pick an artist. I had every Boston album, Olivia Newton-John, Lionel Richie, etc. You're so fortunate to have them on CDs! Did you just collect them overtime? I watch American Idol primarily to be able to hear a lot of the great old songs that actually had a story behind them and evoked feelings that made you think about life; music today sucks
During their time they were the biggest band. Number 1 hit after number 1. They were so overplayed on the radio that at some point the public just got tired, so they started writing songs for other artists, and those songs went to number 1!
Michael Jackson adored them and they were his models. He said “How Do You Mend a Broken Hesrt” was the “perfect song” . My favorite is “Fanny”. Try it!
no, they have a hint of mongolian in them and that gives them the mongolian ability to control their neck muscles and make sounds your average human can not make , being manx boys they will have viking , vikings traded with mongols early on and they also traded women , mostly women they stole in raids , if you understand humans and how Barry looks its easy to know why they had such perfect falsetto voices , i am a huge fan
@@jitaamesuluma9730 I always thought it was their tight trousers that forced them to sing so high.. I mean, come on, you can clearly see Barry's individual testicles here... ;-)
@Heather Gall That song is so wonderful, & now, to me, so very sad now that Robin’s no longer with us. I listened to it yesterday because I love the song & ended up shedding a tear or two at the end. 😢 Their music is timeless to me & it saddens me that we can’t hear the 3 of them harmonize anymore
It goes to show how under rated the Bee Gees are, even most of the younger generation have heard of the Beatles, and the Bee Gees were arguably just as important in music history.
They were more important, gave the world so much more music than the Beatles ever did! The Bee Gees were amazing & so was their brother Andy!!! 👍🏻♥️♥️♥️👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼♥️
Listen to their earliest songs from the 60's, when they were at their best (Massachusetts, Words, To Love Somebody, I Just Gotta Get a Message To You, New York Mining Disaster...just to name a few). The Bee Gee's have always been beyond awesome.
It's like the Bee Gees had 3 separate careers. The starting around 1967 thru maybe 1971. Then a few years went by and you didn't hear from then. Around the mid seventies they had their songs used in the movie Saturday Night Fever. Then nothing and then a few more songs. I liked each "career" even though they sounded quite different. I don't think Barry started singing in falsetto till the mid seventies. My favorites are the early songs from the sixties. There were actually 5 Bee Gees when they started. Massachusetts I just got to get a message to you Words I started a joke The New York Mining Disaster How Do You Mend a Broken Heart
@@tessoh-qs1ts Likewise. Taking nothing away from Barry and his tremendously unique vocals blending with his brothers', but Robin can also take you to another place and soar to heights also.

This group was our high group. In the 60’s, 70’s, & 80’s. This group are brothers. Middle Barry ,sides twin brothers Robin & Maurice. Really there are 5 of them. Yes that is their harmonies. I’m so glad you like The Bee Gees.
Jay, if angels could sing they would sound like the BeeGees. Famous for their effortless harmonies and infectious tunes. From Manchester in the UK, the BeeGees (brothers Gibb) were Barry with that amazing falsetto and twins Robin and Maurice. Started out in the 60’s, hit the 70’s in a big way with disco and Saturday night fever and carried on until the sad deaths of Robin and Maurice, gone too soon. Unfortunately, a younger brother Andy also died young. Barry is still performing but obviously missing his brothers. Check out Got to get a message to you and Words, from the 60’s, anything from their Saturday night fever album in the 70’s and You win again from I think the 80’s but might be later. So many great tunes, you are in for a treat!😍
Oh! That was such a great time to grow up! At that time we had heartthrob posters of Peter Frampton and Rodger Daltrey and very possibly David Cassidy, (who remembers Teen Beat and Tiger Beat?) We read Mad Magazine, watched the not quite ready for Prime Time Players on Saturday Night Live and Monty Python... We all got caught "holding weed for a friend" (and, that's when there were five strains of weed in the world LOL!) The Bee Gees were putting out amazing music on a steady basis, John Travolta learned how to dance and we had the greatest time ever! The 70's was a BLAST! (And mostly a blur!)
omg I was the right age,at the right time. so much music,so many memories even though a lot of the memories where in a cloud of smoke lol. dahm I would love to go back just for one day if I could

I just love how so many people have tuned back in to the greatness of the BeeGee's! I love them and have since I was a teen in the 70s. Thank you all so much! Enjoy!!!!
It’s surprising that you haven’t heard of the Bee Gees considering that this band has done as much or more for the music world than any any other band or singer in history, in my opinion...Major catalogue of hit after hit... Cheers
@@lindatoten6452 Interestingly, Barry, the brother in the center has written songs for many musicians you have heard of. ;) He's a prolific songwriter as well.
I agree. And it's a bit strange that even though they are certainly well known, they are nonetheless underrated/under-represented comparatively speaking when you consider just how significant they actually were, IMHO. Perhaps that is because although they were very diverse and had much success in various musical niches, this particular version of the Bee Gees became so big so fast, and were so distinct that many people sort of typecast them and fail to recall all their other successes. Also, I don't think many people realize how influential they were via their songwriting, etc. Heck, they wrote half the dang hits of the 70s :)
I remember hearing a story (I think it was Casey Kasem telling it on American Top 40) about how that song was created. The brothers were in a car that was crossing a bridge, and the sound of the tires crossing over the spans of the bridge created a beat that got in their heads and they made up the song to match the beat. It has been almost 50 years since I heard the story, but it went something like that.

They all sang in their falsetto voices, but man, did it work. Their harmonies are so on point. You should check out their stuff from the soundtrack of Saturday Night Fever.
Bee Gees were great. They reached the peak of their fame during the disco era, but the group started much earlier than that and had some great songs before the disco era, as well. You should try "How Deep is Your Love", "How Can You Mend a Broken Heart", "Stayin' Alive" (a much peppier, more rock-and-roll song), and "I Started a Joke". That will give you a good sampling, but they have a lot of really good songs.

@celinhabr1...... Robin was my favorite too. I always saw Barry as the handsome one; Maurice as the attention getter and Robin, to me, was the Heart of the group.

Best comment I've EVER heard on TH-cam or anywhere! Jayvee, No, you are NOT the only one.......💜💜💜
@@samaduampoma2449 I totally agree!
I half believe that auto tune was invented to make lesser singers sound like the Bee Gees. I'm not a huge fan but, my God, they're good at what they do
Bee Gees are my favorite group of all time. There will never be another like them!
Caught a tear hearing this song. I remember my parents dancing to this song in the living room when I was little girl. Thank you for the memory!
Always puts tears in my eyes to hear the beegees.heavenly music
Whenever I'm feeling sad, stressed out or depressed, I listen to the BeeGees. Some of their songs were ballads and I know every word of their songs. God sent me the BeeGees music to save on Psychologist, Rehab and mental health care. I owe Barry, Robin and Maurice Gibb for my sanity. I love Words, How Deep is your Love and the First of May. RIP Robin and Maurice. God bless Barry and his family. 💜💜💜
@@casalaiz4413 Here here. I really hope Barry has found peace 💖
When you first hear the song it’s as if you never want the song to end and being born in 71 my family listen to everything from Bee Gees to Tina turner to Marvin Gaye to all of Motown and on top of that ABBA
You had me until " Abba" LOL
👍

I love all
The singer in the middle is Barry, the oldest Gibb brother. On each side are his twin brothers, Robin and Maurice, who are both dead. Their younger brother was Andy Gibb, also deceased. Barry is the only one left. The BeeGees wrote all of their own songs as well as many more for other singers. True talent like this doesn’t come along in a lifetime.
It’s hard to believe that so many young people have never even heard the Bee Gees. Amazing! This is what true music is.
I'm 34. Before quarantine bee gees = weird high voice to me 🤣
I love How Can You Mend A Broken Heart but i thought they covers it because i thought they're supposed to be a disco group. And i vaguely remember Alone. And when i saw This Is Where I Came In on tv when i was young, i thought "why the guy with shades sings the song? Isn't the guy with long hair supposed to be the main vocalist? 🤔"
Here i am now.
Falsetto King...Barry Gibb...you my friend shared the greatest reaction to this song that I have seen so far
Check out their baby brother Andy Gibb. “I just want to be your everything.”
Andy had a beautiful voice too. I miss his beautiful voice.
One of my favourite songs - cry - every time I hear it and think about losing him so young 😪
One of my all time favorite songs...
Haha my room was plastered with Andy Gibb posters in the late 70's. Sad he died so young.
And to watch them on stage. Wow. I saw them on PBS on TV.
All on one mic, NO autotune...they were of another planet. Out-of-this-world, bro. Reminds me of when I was young and free. ❤❤❤
This really takes me back! Life was so much easier, kids could be kids and nobody got offended about everything...I really wish we could turn back time sometimes...Brothers Gibb were awsome! Great reaction!! ♥️💯
@50 Shades of Ray Thank you!! ♥️
God in Heaven knows I miss the 70s. Lucky to live during that time.
Charity Lane SAME!!!
During their time they were the biggest band. Number 1 hit after number 1. They were so overplayed on the radio that at some point the public just got tired, so they started writing songs for other artists, and those songs went to number 1!
I never got tired of hearing their songs on the radio.
They sing like angels!!!! Amazing
"How deep is your love" was their best!
bhaws17 Yes! I'll never get tired of listening to that song. It's actually hard to pick the best because their songs are just so well-crafted.

As musical vocalists they were freaks of nature.
T'weren't FREAKS, they was BROTHERS! :) Been harmonizing since the crib! th-cam.com/video/2qLT26K89Qo/w-d-xo.html
no, they have a hint of mongolian in them and that gives them the mongolian ability to control their neck muscles and make sounds your average human can not make , being manx boys they will have viking , vikings traded with mongols early on and they also traded women , mostly women they stole in raids , if you understand humans and how Barry looks its easy to know why they had such perfect falsetto voices , i am a huge fan
@@JakeyFlakey100 It should be obvious that I was using the expression "freaks of nature" as a backhanded compliment to them.
@@jitaamesuluma9730 I always thought it was their tight trousers that forced them to sing so high.. I mean, come on, you can clearly see Barry's individual testicles here... ;-)
It's falsetto. Look it up.
Robin Gibb singing "I started a joke" live in concert is absolutely amazing!
@Heather Gall That song is so wonderful, & now, to me, so very sad now that Robin’s no longer with us. I listened to it yesterday because I love the song & ended up shedding a tear or two at the end. 😢 Their music is timeless to me & it saddens me that we can’t hear the 3 of them harmonize anymore
agree 100% love that song
Don't mention it ,Ooooooooh.
O
Massachusetts
I just got to get a message to you
Words
I started a joke
The New York Mining Disaster
How Do You Mend a Broken Heart
I am with you on Massachusetts. It's lyrically raw but so exquisitely voiced by Maurice (?) Hope I got that right.
Don't forget "I Started a Joke" . . . I couldn't believe that was them, since all I knew prior was their work from the mid-70's when I grew up . . .
Oh agree. They're 60s stuff is the best. 80s 90s not too shabby either.
@@tessoh-qs1ts Likewise. Taking nothing away from Barry and his tremendously unique vocals blending with his brothers', but Robin can also take you to another place and soar to heights also.
You can hear SO much more when listening with headphones. They are the best at harmonizing.
They started singing professionally as kids so they were masters as adults
I love their cover of Please Please Me. Robin and Maurice were maybe 11, but still perfect harmonies.

At that time we had heartthrob posters of Peter Frampton and Rodger Daltrey and very possibly David Cassidy, (who remembers Teen Beat and Tiger Beat?)
We read Mad Magazine, watched the not quite ready for Prime Time Players on Saturday Night Live and Monty Python...
We all got caught "holding weed for a friend" (and, that's when there were five strains of weed in the world LOL!)
The Bee Gees were putting out amazing music on a steady basis, John Travolta learned how to dance and we had the greatest time ever!

Yup, They were also prolific song writers.
@Mike Morbuk actually they were British they also did very well in US. Barry the only surviving brother lives in Florida
Two words: Jive Talkin'. You'll love it. It's got that 70s funk beat.

Their range, harmony and song writing skills are second to none. The Brothers Brilliant never disappoint! Musical geniuses.
