Holy smoke! You've done 13 of their songs! That has to be the most of any artist\group. When you put out your Top 10 individuals\small groups, I wonder who will be #1!
This was their biggest song ever. You literally couldn't turn on the radio for about three years after it was released without hearing it at some point. This was the opening theme of the incredible movie Saturday Night Fever, which turned John Travolta from a guy on a TV sitcom into a MAJOR film star. If you want to get an insight into the disco culture of late 70s New York City, you HAVE to watch that movie.

The Brothers Gibb ...... Professionally known as 'The Bee Gees.' Maurice (on the right-short hair) While on his way to surgery for his intestines, he had a heart attack, yet the doctors operated anyway. (I heard Barry say this on a video.) He was in the hospital for only 2 days! Maurice (pronounced Morris) passed in 2003. I feel he should had been the lead on at least one song on every album. Robin (on the left-long hair) passed in 2012 from cancer. He and Barry complimented each other with their voices. Andy, the youngest brother, who had his own successful careert. He passed in 1988, at the age of 30, from inflammation of the muscles around his heart. He and Barry could had passed as twins, even though he was 12 yrs younger than Barry. The 3 brothers were also married and had children. Barry (in the middle) said, "I am the last man standing." Barry is the eldest of the brothers. On September 1, 2021, he and his wife, Linda will celebrate their 51st wedding anniversary, which is also Barry's 75th birthday. They have 5 adult children, and 7 grandchildren. The Bee Gees have sold over 220 million records worldwide (probably more.) They were also writers for other musical artists. Barry just completed a new project called 'Greenfields: The Gibb Brothers Songbook.' It is very nice! On a side note, their sister, Lesley is the first born. She was 76, January, 2021. She lives a quiet life with her family. Listen to: How Deep Is Your Love ----- Night Fever --- Emotion (a song written for Samantha Sang) --- You Win Again
nope..... hated disco with a passion... and it took me most of 40 years to appreciate this song... and I was a big fan of the Brothers Gibb for many years growing up. I always hoped that my 2 brothers would join me in a singing group but we had such different tastes and we were stubborn. Saturday night fever was a hated movie for decades. I did eventually watch it but still didnt care for it and couldnt stand travolta after Kotter.... I was so happy when they burned all those disco records in Chicago... but it just made those people go out and buy the records again... dance music ruined rock/prog rock... oh well different strokes...
"If this song doesn't move you, there's certainly something wrong with you." Man, you can't believe how hard I laughed 😂. And you're so right about it. The Bee Gees never had a bad song.
No really, its really worth the time to take in the BEE GEES Music Movie, SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER because you not only hear disco music at its greatest, but visually capture the disco scene it inspired.
they are all dead except Barry. Andy was my favorite he was oh so sexyyyy everyone forgets him but i never ever will. I am the same age as Andy would be now if he was still with us.
It is a good film but very dark, people tend to remember the music and dance but forget the suicide, gang-bang intended to incite jealousy and the girl living unhappily with a much older man as her sugar daddy.
Lucky enough to have met them all. They were/are the nicest people you’ll ever meet! Barry actually introduced himself to me. Inside, I was like, OF COURSE YOU ARE! Legends.
Louise Van Geyzel I lived and worked in Miami in the TV business. About 2 weeks after they spent a day at our studio, we were driving around Miami Beach and ran into Robin Gibb riding his bike. I said to my wife, “Hey, there’s Robin Gibb on a bike.” She said, “yeah, right!” I pulled alongside and said, “Hi Robin!” And we chatted for a bit. My wife was silent the whole time; she was in shock. It was hilarious!
Louise Van Geyzel And yes, I was VERY lucky! They signed my wife’s original Saturday Night Fever album which she then got Travolta to sign. He lives in our town.
The good ol 80s music roller skating and the funk was unique I'm so glad lived it and great that younger generation gets a bit of what we had back then ..never gets old and gets you moving ..👍
I am LATE to the dance party but I wanted to say the drummer on this track is Dennis Bryon and bass guitar is Maurice Gibb. I am obsessed with the 2020 Bee Gees: How Can You Mend A Broken Heart documentary on HBOMax. Probably watched it 3x this past weekend. Check it out when you get a chance. It's a must see for any Bee Gees fan. Also, you'll be surprised to learn that Dennis DID NOT play live on this track. He had a family emergency and the band needed to finish the songs for the SNF soundtrack so they looped one of his drum sequences from Night Fever and then added the other instruments on top creating that layered effect for this song. OK yes I am a #BeeGeesNerd ;) I love your channel, especially your Bee Gees reactions!!
To me, the Bee Gee's defined disco in the '70's. The entire soundtrack to "Saturday Night Fever" is a sheer masterpiece. Only Barry is left now and I really do miss them. Timeless music!
Well it goes the other way too, when I was a kid in the eighties and nineties my mother's friend refused to believe I knew any songs from the fifties and sixties, flat out refused to believe me. I kept saying, why wouldn't I? It's all my mother plays and all that's on her radio station. I was born in the late seventies and Infact I had heard no other sound until I was thirteen EXCEPT fifties and sixties music, church music and a FEW seventies songs my dad liked when I visited him on weekends. Truely if you have nowhere to be exposed to something, no one who plays a style or an era of music, how would you know about it? Are either of you familiar with songs by Shirley Temple? Can you sing them word for word or tell me what movies they're from? Or tell me what Alice Faye sounded like when she sang? If you can, awesome, but if you have no idea, don't hang it on someone else because they weren't exposed to a style, he's young, maybe in his twenties. They usually listen to modern music
It's a song you hear in the background of movies or other things. Like he said he has heard it on a vine clip. But don't appreciate it until u really give it a listen. Happens to me with a lot of songs I am 27 and just started enjoying this song 3 years ago.
It's strange, I noticed decades ago that there seems to be a revival of music about 2 decades earlier all the time. At least I noticed it in the 70's when I was a teenager when there were 50's dances and music on the radio (people's parents are often 2 decades older), in the 80's, 60's music had a bit of a comeback, in the 90's, the 70's, in the '00's, the '80's, I didn't notice if it continued after that. Also I was exposed to music from old movies I saw on TV in the '60's and '70's, since they played a lot of old movies from the '30's through the '60's on TV, when there wasn't as much programming to fill up the TV time even though there were only a few channels on TV to choose from. So I knew a lot of old songs, at least those that were in movies. Also have noticed that you can assume that the stuff you know from living through a certain time period isn't necessarily common knowledge anymore. But on the other hand I can't say I know as much about popular music from the last two decades as I know about music before that. Not that I'm an expert about any time period!
It's fantastic seeing younger people appreciating the older songs. I grew up with disco and I love it. Of course I like anything I can dance to, and disco has such a great, prominent beat, it's impossible to not move to it. :)
This is back when music was music. Having been born in 1971, I got to experience listening to this group and their brother, Andy, who died too young. I miss the 70s and 80s.

Then the seventies came around and the movie Saturday Night Fever turned John Travolta and the Bee Gees into superstars. Disco was born and yes I am giving away my age when I say the Disco era was one of the favorite periods in my life. I see you like it too Jayvee! Enjoy!
You should watch the new Bee Gees documentary on HBO Max. You won't even believe the creative engineering that went into the recording (I mean on TAPE recording!) of this song - GENIUS!!
How have you not heard this before mate? I honestly didn’t think I was that old!! Please review The Platters - only you and the great pretender. Seriously different sound but you appreciate vocal skills!
When people think of disco, they think of this song! I was just a kid back then but my older sisters were going to discos and playing The Bee Gees on the stereo all the time! These guys were awesome.
Another classic, and one that is loved by just about everyone. They had such a distinct sound, that if they had a new song on the radio, and the DJ hadn't announced the artist, you'd know by the first couple of bars that it was the Bee Gees. Those voices were unmistakable, and unforgettable. I STILL love their music like no one else's. Thanks for playing this, and for the great reaction.
And that my friend, is why this was voted the #1 dance song for the entire decade of the 70's. I believe it also ranked at #99 of the all time best songs ever written ;) At the height of this period, they were selling 1million albums a week, which led to a backlash. It got to the point that radio stations started having BG's free weekends where they wouldn't play them at all. !st time that had every happened with a group. This is also to this day the most played song on the planet, it gets played somewhere on the radio every 10-15 seconds worldwide.
I love seeing you react to the Bee Gees, they were some of the greatest songwriters of all time. You should definitely check out Tragedy, it has one of Barry's greatest vocals. You Win Again is another classic, from when they reinvented themselves in the eighties, that's one of my favourites.
This was the big change for the Brothers Gibb. They went from their 60’s sound to the new disco sound that made them a true super group. A request for a 60’s group that you still hear in movies today, the Chambers Brothers and Time Has Come Today.
Not really THAT crazy since the movie is actually very dark and gritty and deals with subjects such as rape and domestic violence. Robin probably couldn't stomach it.
I saw the movie when it first came out. Hated the movie. Would have walked out of the theater if I was alone. Loved the music and the dancing. Bee Gees are my favorite group. Hated every other part of the movie. The music was the only good thing about the movie.

It's not just Disco, it's THE quintessential Disco song of all time.
Yes it is!!!!
You said it!
There are so many pop culture references in TV and movies of this track. How young do you have to be to not know it?
It is more than a disco song. It evokes an entire era.

I love the Beegees.

The start of the movie with travolta walking, this song playing, now it goes hand in hand
Yes, and don't forget the scene in the movie Airplane also.
Walking with a can of paint, no less. Eats two slices, one on top of the other. Travolta is so cool. A man on a mission.
Travolta was so perfect for that role.
Iconic movie intro

“You should be dancin’ “ by them as well. That song is guaranteed to get you moving 😊

That should be accompanied by the video of Travolta's dance moves!
Fantastic dance moves in sat night fever by John. To you should be dancing. Mesmerising, owesome. Brilliant. 🤣🤣🤣🤣♥️

Absolutely my friend, this song PACKED THE DANCE FLOOR and every guy thought he was John Travolta on the dance floor.
It's so sad and ironic that the oldest brother "Barry" is the only one left.
I feel for him. The last man standing.
I was literally just thinking that while I was watching the video!
I know.... So sad.

Sir Barry Gibb 😊❤
(I don't care - I'm still in love with Andy. To the point I go by Andie since 7th grade)

"If this song doesn't move you, there's certainly something wrong with you." - Quote of the day
And that my friend, is why this was voted the #1 dance song for the entire decade of the 70's.
I refuse to believe you've never heard this umwhen u were a kid. I was born in 2000 and I heard it 😂. Its too iconic.
How Deep Is Your Love By The Bee Jees Please And Thank You Very Much
I've already done that one I made a beegees playlist check it out
@@JayveeTV K Thank you
When I first heard this song I thought it was Alvin & the Chipmunks who were singing it! Great song absolutely!
I love seeing you react to the Bee Gees, they were some of the greatest songwriters of all time. You should definitely check out Tragedy, it has one of Barry's greatest vocals. You Win Again is another classic, from when they reinvented themselves in the eighties, that's one of my favourites.
Love this Song!!!
“Stayin’ Alive” always puts me in a good mood, too. It’s beyond catchy-it’s compelling.
Amazing song!!! Love the Bee Gee's!!!
I'm enjoying watching you hear them for the first time...great video's!!!
This was the big change for the Brothers Gibb. They went from their 60’s sound to the new disco sound that made them a true super group.
A request for a 60’s group that you still hear in movies today, the Chambers Brothers and Time Has Come Today.
If I was Barry I would spend all day watching people on TH-cam watching my videos and saying nice things about them 😊
It’s so great watching you listen to this! Your reaction is spot on!
They teach CPR to the beat of this song.
I think it’s crazy that Robin Gibb said he never watched the complete movie.
He smacks my hair.....come on that alone is worth the price of admission.
