Hey Blake! These fish are threatened in the wild. I have a couple at home and i want to breed them. Have you breed them yourself? And if so do you have any tips or tricks. Ive heard the KH needs to be at almost zero for the eggs to hatch. Is that true?
I had this fish for 2 years, in a ph of 7 i bought this fish accidentally and i couldn't return him, so i was expecting this fish to die immediately, but i was surprised how hardy they were,
Definitely not deissneri. Check out Kottelat and Ng, 1998 Ichthyological Exploration of Freshwaters, 8: 263-272. P. deissneri males have a triangular caudal with a distinctive black filament, very long ventral filaments and the blue streaks in the unpaired fins are short and not continuous. They reach 50mm. The ones in the video are 35mm. Imo they are not P. bintan either, there's not enough blue streaks in the fins, and I cannot match them to either sp. 'blue line ' or sp. Sentang. It seems that Blake has one of those undescribed species that turn up in the hobby and, for want of a name, are sold as deissneri.
So turns out these fish arent the deisseri at all. They are most likely a bintan Sintang variant since the deisseri habe long filaments and not a round dorsal. I got sold mine as deisseri too but they totally arent. its very unlikely that the deisseri are actually in the hobby at all.
How do we have all the same fish?! I've been meaning to put more effort into breeding these guys. I think I'll give it at real go soon. Want to race? lol
Nice species spotlight Blake, a nano fish I hadn’t given much thought to before.

I didnt have much luck with them but yes super low kh otherwise eggs will calcify too quickly and suoer low ph to trigger spawning
Ah alright Blake! Thanks for the response. Ill keep on experimenting with them :)@@BlakesAquatics

Sure that is P. Deissneri? Looks more like bintan 🤔🤔
nah the blue gives it away as Deissneri
