Also Abe they are not aircraft carriers , the "Mistrals" are LHDs (Amphibious Assault Ship) like my USS Iwo Jima but smaller. They are 653 ft lg and 22,000 tons Full, 800-1000 Troops and 12-18 Helos depending on size. I am curious ? why Egypt would even want such large and very expensive ships !! They are very costly to operate and you'd need a reason to have Amphibious ships ! ? With their large crews and Air Wing, fuel and stores load they would cost (three to four times) more to operate than the new French FFG that your Navy just got !!! I just checked and it is true that Russia is not getting them and both Egypt and the Saudi's are looking to buy them or one each, even "Canada" is looking at one !!! I know that Saudi Arabia has the money for these but can your nation really afford to buy and operate such a very "expensive"vessel with it's large crews and aircraft ?? Please understand Abe I am just asking because I have spent "half" my marine career on these type of ships ! What about your economy ! how will the average Egyptian feel about spending "Billions" on these ? Don't mean to rain on this at all I'm just asking serious questions.
