YES, that quote immediately made me suspect Hannah wasn't his only victim as soon as I heard it. It's just such a weird and suggestive thing to say, almost like a vague brag about him getting away with something else. I also seriously doubt she'd have been his last victim were it not for the steadfastness of her parents, who were amazing in this case. I still think 24 years is too lenient though. For very deliberate, calculated, cold murder and rape like this, a "life sentence" should ACTUALLY be a life sentence, not a pathetic "life but not really" sentence.

Eleanor! I have a case suggestion. The murder of Liam Aitchison(16years old) who had been stabbed 20 times and beaten on the Isle of Lewis. Two fishermen where convicted, Johnathan Mackinnon and Stefan Miller (both 22 years). It’s absolutely heartbreaking and I’ve never heard anybody talk about it with a platform. Love you Ellie 🤍
“You win some, you lose some” ABSOLUTELY to me sounds like he’s gotten away with crimes before, plus all of the other reasons you gave at the end. Absolutely terrifying he’s due to be released (relatively) soon

I love it too, it’s very empowering and shines light and focus on the victims rather than the perpetrator. It is very uplifting to see only their photographs displayed, it’s the least they deserve after all their efforts and bravery with this case😊
As someone from Southampton; his release scares me! Well done to Hannah’s parents for being persistent and getting the justice deserved ❤️ thank you for an amazing video as always 🥰
Well I would implore you to get involved when his parole hearing comes up. The more people from the area that speak out to the parole board before his release the better. I’m sure her parents would love to have any and all support from anyone who can stand with them to fight his release. ❤
I’ve never heard of Hannah Foster’s case, and I watch loads of true crime docs. Thank you for getting her story out there! Always so respectful of the family.
It’s interesting to hear about cases like this where there’s only one apparent victim but the chase after the killer takes up a longer portion of the efforts to catch them as opposed to the investigation of who the killer could be.
Jason Lepcha, the man who informed police about Kohli's whereabouts got a hefty sum of money as a reward. With that he opened up a school for poor children in darjeeling. He named the school after Hannah and called it Hannah Memorial Academy.
I lived up the road from Hannah and her family. She went to the primary school I was going to at the time of the murder, I then went to the same secondary school Hannah had gone to. I really feel that the loss of Hannah affected the entire city of Southampton. Have so much respect for Hannah’s parents, and I am deeply sorry for their loss ❤
Such a sad case, started reading more on Wikipedia and came across this which I thought I would share. "An important link to the arrest of Kohli was information from taxi driver Jason Lepcha, who was regularly hired by Kohli partly because of his understanding of English. Lepcha, one of 12 reward recipients, received ₹367,000 for his role in the arrest.[8][9] He used this money to buy land to establish a school for disadvantaged children which was named The Hannah Memorial Academy in Foster's memory.[9][10] When visiting Darjeeling in 2006, Foster's parents heard his story, and on their return to England, worked with others to set up a registered charity which supports Lepcha's school.[3]"
That’s such beautiful light to come out of a terrible situation. Bless that taxi driver. He had basically no connection to Hannah or her family at all and still did this out of pure care and empathy
I agree, his thought process coming out of the bar came so naturally for him, just instinct and second nature, almost thoughtless actions, i'd say he's done that before. i'd research his traveling history if I were the cops.
Yes, his immediate desire to harm Hannah indicates that he is not “new” to committing this level of crime and he has “experience” with it unfortunately. I thought they would have been able to get his history in India as well but I am assuming that since his brother was an officer in India, that potentially put him at an advantage and possibly limited/ entirely prevented records of his crimes… Especially since he is known for using false identities.
This case breaks my heart, especially when the killer is from the same community. It is shameful for the community and the police to have not taken any action, when they knew the killer and then stalling the process for another three years. Hannah was literally SEVENTEEN. It sends shivers down my spine.
I’m so glad he was caught and brought back to the uk to face a trial and sent to prison for Hannah’s family’s sake and the sake of any future potential victims. Amazing parents. What a vile man. Such a tragic loss of a beautiful, young life. RIP Hannah ❤
This was premeditated murder because he had a murder kit with him he should never be released from prison. Hannah's parents are awesome for not giving up and may have prevented future violent crimes.

This case is so similar to Toyah Cordingly's murder in Australia. Indian husband and father moved to Australia, raped and murdered a girl, then jumped on a plane back to India and deserted his poor family and kids. After YEARS of indian police doing nothing, Australian detectives went over there - They offered a million dollar reward and within weeks caught him and dragged him back to Australia a few weeks ago. He's finally been charged with her murder.
The Australian detectives probably knew about this Hannah Foster case as it was the first time somebody was successfully extradited from India to the UK (which is in itself a mammoth task). The UK detectives together with the Sun newspaper offered the reward as they knew it was the only chance of finding a criminal in India as the Indian police are so corrupt...and still are. Fortunately for the Australian detectives Rajwinder Singh waived his right to challenge the extradition. Unfortunately for the UK detectives Kohli challenged the extradition and the case underwent 100 court proceedings and 35 appeals delaying his extradition by 3 years.
Those parents are true parents that love their child with all their heart. I would go to the end of the world for justice for my child too. Props to them and thank you Eleanor as per usual exquisitely covering another case. 👏 👏 👏
Keep in mind that going to the lengths they did takes money and resources a lot of people don't have. That doesn't mean other parents aren't true parents who love their kids with all their hearts.
The comment he made about “You win some, you loose some” makes me feel like it wasn’t it first. Bless her parents, they are the true heroes of this case💜
When he said “you win some, you lose some” to me that indicates he’s done it before and got away with it meaning he won that time but lost this one because he got caught.
This reminds me of the Toyah Cordingley case, the man killed her in Cairns Australia and then left his family and fled back to India. Luckily he has just been extradited back to Australia. This case is so sad and I feel so sad for Hannah’s family that they had to take it into their own hands but they are the parents that everyone needs. RIP Hannah 🤍
I was not aware of Toyah’s case even though it was relatively close to where I lived (5 hours away from Cairns) at the time it occurred. Like you stated, there are similarities and it is very sad for both of these families losing their young children. Toyah would be 29 this year and Hannah would be 37 this year. May they be peacefully RIP🙏🪦💔
I think the phrase he used "you win some, you lose some" could be related to the fact that he probably got away with other crimes before and only got caught with this one... horrible really
That’s wonderful that the parents were able to travel and track this dissociating person. His brother had a lot of nerve saying that his brother was framed especially after he admitted to the crime.
This is exactly what happened with the Toyah Cordingly case where I live in Qld, Australia. The (alleged) killer took off to India and was in hiding for years but the moment Qld police offered a 1 million dollar reward leading to his arrest in India, he was arrested within 3 weeks! He was extradited back to Australia and just recently arrived back in Cairns… I don’t think he will survive very long here.
I agree with you. I don’t think it this was his first time. When you noted that he said, “You win some, you lose some”…I immediately thought that his “wins” were the murders he had gotten away with in the past, and he “lost” this time because he got caught. - Thank you for telling this story that needs to be told, as you do so many others. Your style is so genuine and compassionate, and you bring so much empathy to your work. Always wonderfully done, thank you. 🌸
So proud of the parents for never giving up and putting more effort into finding Hannah’s murderer. So determined . It’s amazing and inspiring . May Hannah rest in peace ❤️
So you're trying to secretly contact the police, and then after 30 seconds you get a loud message asking if you're trying to call the police?! Great for kidnap or hostage situations. 🙄
I live near Southampton and remember seeing this case in the news. I never knew how it was resolved or the lengths her brave parents went to to get justice. Thanks for covering
There's no way that this was his first murder... I definitely agree with the theory that he moved from India to the UK because he had done something similar in India. Maybe that's why he said he was so tired of running, because he had been doing it for a lot longer than everyone thought. Hannah's parents are definitely heroes.
It’s mildly terrifying to find out that something like this happened in the same places that you and your siblings have frequented for years, Jesus, I can’t imagine the pain that her parents felt,
Hey, Eleanor! Big fan from Maine here. I'd love to see you cover the Ayla Reynolds case that happened here. She is a 19 month old girl who "disappeared" from her fathers home in 2011, and hasn't been seen since. There was blood found at the scene, and somehow, no one that was at the scene was ever charged or convicted of murder. It's a big unsolved case here.
I would've done the same those are truly great parents I am so sorry they lost their baby my heart aches for them their strength is truly amazing wishing them peace for the rest of their lives
On top of the amazing determination and love shown by Hannah's parents for their daughter, shout out to the police who enhanced the 999 call and got valuable info, the public caller who identified the van, and the Indian policeman who managed to recognise the killer and detain him just in time
Usually cases get handed poorly, fumbled and delayed when having multiple police forces involved from different countries but this case was lucky in the way that he got identified and taken in by police relatively quickly… The person who identified the van, the taxi driver who was able to identify the perpetrator, the undercover cop who caught him just in time while him and his new wife were about to board the bus to Nepal… and especially the parents. I too love the co-operation of everyone.. Everyone deserves recognition and congratulating. The parents were only in India campaigning for a couple days and he was already caught. It really did this case good, of course it probably would not have been possible without the campaigns from the parents. They did a great job and lead the way for the success of Hannah’s case being solved and justice served!

The “you win some, you loose some” is chilling to me. It makes me think he’s gotten away with crimes before and may even have more victims who’s families will never get the closure of knowing what happened to their loved one. He’s a sick man and it’s just awful he got to say free for 3 extra years after all the work Hannah’s parents had put in. Kudos to mum and dad for they’re amazing determination, it must have been so painful and I hope they’re doing the best they can without their little girl.

The wife should have been arrested and charged as an accessory to murder. She never called the police to report the dead body. In the US, we call that failure to report and concealing a crime. Also, she withheld information from the cops. As far as I'm concerned, she's an accomplice. Especially being that she was born and raised in the UK.
Although his wife was uncooperative with the investigation I don't think she knew anything. I don't think they were even living together at the time of the murder, she had already fled the family home to move back in with her parents,
@Martin Chalk at the end, she says that she knew there was a dead body in the car. She just thought someone else put the body there and her husband was going to throw the body out. She didn't tell the cops this until years later. Her, being born and raised in the UK, should know better than to not report that to the police. Culture be damned.
@@KettleBlacktheBat He didn't have a car at this time, that is why the company allowed him to take the van home so there was definitely no body in a car at any time. If he did go home it would have been some time between midnight and 3am on the Saturday morning as he dumped Hannah's body soon after and went to work, I doubt his wife was awake at that time. I don't know whether she ever made such a statement to the police, to corroborate one of her husband's many stories, as I haven't seen the court papers. There is so much misinformation in this video that I doubt his wife even said such a thing. They were selling their house and his wife and children were already living with her parents. The cultural part of this is very interesting. She was born and raised in the UK but had an arranged marriage so culturally she was very Indian. She was abused by her husband, you could often hear them arguing when walking past the house. She would seek refuge at a neighbour's house, an Indian woman who was a family friend. When the police started their investigation this neighbour said she didn't know him. His wife said he wouldn't do such a thing. His family in India said he wouldn't do such a thing and helped him evade justice. When he ran to his family in India his wife phoned him to warn him that he was the suspect and then he disappeared to another part of India and assumed a new identity. His brother, a serving police office, helped him with his new identity and helped him buy a house. The UK police did an amazing job with very little help from the Indian community.
I'm Indian and I'm honestly not surprised at all by the uncooperativeness of the police, there are so many rape cases in India and most of them are overlooked and prolonged for years which is why these crimes keep happening cuz 70% of the time the criminals get away with it.
My heart goes out to Hannah's family and friends. I hope that evil monster gets what he deserves. And, I wanna give Eleanor some appreciation for doing this work. I was working on a film in New Orleans and I was on my way home from the set like around 3am. And I saw a young college student (female) walking alone by herself towards the college grounds. Because of Eleanor's work on bringing these victims stories to light, I decided to let that young lady know that I would stay a respectable distance from her so she won't be frightened by me, but I would watch to make sure she at least get to her campus safely. She insisted that I not do that, but she thanked me for my willingness to look out for her. Had I not been given the details Eleanor lays out from all the cases that she has covered, I probably would have thought twice before closing to stay and watch to make sure that college student got to the buildings safe. I wish so much that someone was looking out for Hannah that night. 😢 God bless you Eleanor. If you are not spiritual or religious, then I simply wish you love, peace, and happiness. Be safe everyone!
His wife definitely knew what he did and I do believe she’s an accessory after the fact. She an Indian woman born in the UK and tho she was a housewife, Asians are definitely NOT stupid. Your husband comes home with fresh scratches on his face (probably some bruises elsewhere) and a very hurt back and seeing him in this state he tells you “oh, by the way, I opened my van and saw a dead body. I panicked and just drove home.” No one would believe that. She probably told him to flee and helped make arrangements.

Your voice is awful
Hope she see this comment ❤
Hey! I know it's a year later but I'm pretty sure Eleanor has a link in her bio where you can suggest cases, so maybe try that and she'll see it!
Not often something like that happens in such a quiet part of the world
“You win some, you lose some” ABSOLUTELY to me sounds like he’s gotten away with crimes before, plus all of the other reasons you gave at the end. Absolutely terrifying he’s due to be released (relatively) soon
Good on the parents! They loved her so much. Every child deserves parents like this.
“You win some you lose some” sent chills down my spine I took it as he’s murdered before and got away with it that’s his win scary to think about 😬
"You win some, you lose some." -- Spoken like someone who has very much committed these crimes before.
My thoughts exactly 😢😢😢
i honestly like your choice in this thumbnail to just include the people in this case. it’s nice to see them being out front and centre instead of a still from the video. idk why i just appreciate that
I love it too, it’s very empowering and shines light and focus on the victims rather than the perpetrator.
Same I’m also from Southampton
Hello fellow sotonian!
@@Alex__Buchananother sotonian here too 😊
I'm from Southampton too it worries me when I watch videos like this especially with it being so close to home
I’ve never heard of Hannah Foster’s case, and I watch loads of true crime docs. Thank you for getting her story out there! Always so respectful of the family.
Respectful? Making money from their daughter's rape and murder!!
So much respect for these parents who did not give up. Truly can't even imagine this pain but how incredible that they sought justice and received it.
Good for them! What lovely parents, it’s tragic what they’ve had to suffer!
I would also never ever let the killer get away. I nearly died having one of my children, and I would do anything for them still. Forever.
I know mama would be the same. She'd want justice
Cannot believe how well Hannah’s parents did. They are truly incredible parents
Such a valuable detail, thanks for sharing that!
That’s really beautiful. This story is so horrific, it’s wonderful that anything good came of any of it.
That’s such beautiful light to come out of a terrible situation. Bless that taxi driver. He had basically no connection to Hannah or her family at all and still did this out of pure care and empathy
Waw, thank you for this information. Kudos to the taxi driver - this world needs people like him
That's incredible. Thank you for sharing.
@@amberar312 His brother should be locked up as well. Aiding and abetting his murdering rapist brother. What a scumbag.
This case breaks my heart, especially when the killer is from the same community. It is shameful for the community and the police to have not taken any action, when they knew the killer and then stalling the process for another three years. Hannah was literally SEVENTEEN. It sends shivers down my spine.
I Love how respectful Eleanor is to the family and the victims 💗
I’m so glad he was caught and brought back to the uk to face a trial and sent to prison for Hannah’s family’s sake and the sake of any future potential victims. Amazing parents. What a vile man. Such a tragic loss of a beautiful, young life. RIP Hannah ❤
This was premeditated murder because he had a murder kit with him he should never be released from prison. Hannah's parents are awesome for not giving up and may have prevented future violent crimes.
His own hands = a murder kit? Using that logic most people carry a murder kit....
@@martinchalk3799 didn’t he have a bat?
@@izzydog111He didn't beat Hannah to death with a fictitious bat he strangled her but a chrome pole was found in his van with Hannah's blood on it. There never was a bat, that's a made up fact like many others in this TH-cam video.
My mum always said if I went missing/murdered she would not rest and sell her house and all her belongings to find who did it. I know how much my mum loves me. This just shows how well loved she truly was ❤️❤️ she will be watching her parents and gets peace knowing she is so loved 🥲❤
ur mom was the daughter who got murdered?
20 years since this case, thanks for the video , rest in peace Hannah

I'm from India and this country has a lot of heinous crimes happening here, you should cover more Indian cases please because there's not ANY coverage here
Yeah your government and president needs to worry about these issue and poverty rather than sending a rocket to the moon.
@@adz4301that has nothing todo with it 😂. Bad people are EVERYWHERE. Are you jealous of that moon mission. Seriously! Look at uk now ans stop being so bothered about what another country is doing. They're not our colony now. Ffs

We are new Italy don't live in denial as you ARE! Lol...
The more she covers it the more racism you'll get. Do you truly want that. There's enough racism in uk. I don't think you're aware. Be careful what you wish for. The brits percentage of us are extremely entitled and snobbish. We still think of us as VERY important and still give advice to another country even in our current economic climate. Just check the response to your comment and it's about a brit bothered by your moon mission , as if they are living in a country which is golden. So, you'll get such response in hoardes. Do you want that??
@randomlyswatching9481 racism in the comments section doesn't mean shit. It's not making people racist those people were already racist and finding stuff to be mad about. More coverage means more social awareness and more social pressure which puts the government in pressure. Even if that doesn't happen, victims get a voice, and that's what matters, not the ears that voice falls on because no one will click on that video and THEN turn racist because if that happened buddy white people would have a tough time.
WTF!!
@@Author.Noelle.Alexandria Okay I never said other “non rich” parents did not love their kids. I was looking at the glass half full.
people always find a way to twist a comment into a negative. that person is dumb. your comment is sweet and i agree 💕
like obviously not everyone can afford to but that wasnt the point..💀
Kudos to Hannah’s parents for their diligent and dedicated search for their daughter’s killer to ensure that justice was served! 💗
The comment he made about “You win some, you loose some” makes me feel like it wasn’t it first. Bless her parents, they are the true heroes of this case💜
Hannah’s parents are absolutely incredible. They should be SO proud of themselves, and I really hope they are able to find some peace now 💜
When he said “you win some, you lose some” to me that indicates he’s done it before and got away with it meaning he won that time but lost this one because he got caught.
Parents of the year award, I feel so so bad for these parents. No parents should have to do this, have to go through this.
As an Indian i feel ashamed and sad... iam so sorry Hannah may you rest in peace sweet angel

Woo hoo great news!
He was extradited back to Australia and just recently arrived back in Cairns… I don’t think he will survive very long here.
gezzzz so many criminals
It’s mildly terrifying to find out that something like this happened in the same places that you and your siblings have frequented for years, Jesus, I can’t imagine the pain that her parents felt,
I've watched your videos since I was quite young and I'm now at uni studying Criminology. I adore your channel so much 💗

This happened just down the road from me and she was found about 5 mins from my house. Still haunts me. These poor parents. 😢

Hello Eleanor just wanted to leave you a suggestion for a case. Would you ever do a case on Selena Quintanilla or Jenni Rivera ?
She has a case suggestion for people to fill out. I believe she lists it in the description section of each video.. If not, then you'll find it on her profile...
Kudos to mum and dad for they’re amazing determination, it must have been so painful and I hope they’re doing the best they can without their little girl.

this case will always stick with me. I grew up in Southampton and live in the village next to where Hannah’s body was found. Even though I was only little, my parents remember it clearly and I drive past the place she was found nearly every day and always take the time to think of Hannah. Thank you for covering this so well💗
Crime watch live - 10 am on Monday - not as good as the old late night ones - but still on . Thank you for all your content ! Love your style and compassion 🖤🖤🖤
It’s on bbc one - sorry forgot to pop that in there !!!
I don't think they were even living together at the time of the murder, she had already fled the family home to move back in with her parents,
agreed
I'm Indian and I'm honestly not surprised at all by the uncooperativeness of the police, there are so many rape cases in India and most of them are overlooked and prolonged for years which is why these crimes keep happening cuz 70% of the time the criminals get away with it.
it’s so refreshing and relieving that police actually jumped into the case so quickly and really put their all into it.
I would classify covering for your murderer husband as really stupid!
I salute those parents to going to those lengths to catch that scumbag when law enforcement doesn't act then you're left with no choice but do the job yourself and her parents wouldn't rest until they indeed brought their daughter's killer to justice they clearly loved their daughter dearly
