Just bought this for my 3rd bike, so well balanced and very well sorted. The fueling is so smooth and mid range torque increase is very noticable compare to the previous gen. Does everything as you expected, so underrated, such a pity Suzuki didn't put the tft and cruise control, otherwise it'd be phenomenal, but the price tag will be different as well. Great bike overall, one of my best purchase across all 10 bikes I've had.

I'm just getting into my own, I've only had it for two days, but I bought it after a day of test riding the demo. It's a killer bike in every way! Although it wasn't that important to me, it's really good looking and to appreciate it, you have to see the bike live, photos don't do it justice. I personally found the matte grey color to be the most attractive, but of course, that's a matter of taste. I was convinced to order it because of its lightness (in feeling, because objectively it's not the lightest in its class), the engine, which, in addition to its beautiful history, is still unmatched by the competition in terms of performance, power delivery, reliability, predictability, and sound. Such engines will no longer be produced. Amazing power, eagerness to ride, straight, in turns, whatever the rider imagines, it will happen! The riding position is a successful compromise, providing enjoyment and technical capabilities for those who want to ride dynamically and those who want to comfortably explore nearby towns (although there is no exaggeration with tourism either, due to the lack of a windshield and the high, retracted legs). For me, another huge plus is that the bike doesn't heat up the handlebars, which is a problem on many motorcycles. I, for example, considered buying a Ducati Street V2 and the way they gave off heat to the rider was unacceptable. The suspension in the factory setting is rather for dynamic/sport riding (not hardcore), but if it's not your thing - you have plenty of adjustment options to find your own setting. The brakes, in addition to being very efficient, are also very controllable - full control in any conditions. I don't expect anything more. The gem in the standard equipment setup is the top-notch quickshifter, which works phenomenally in practically every rpm range, of course, up and down, and we get it without any extra charge. The cherry on top is the exhaust - it sounds and looks fantastic, it can make pleasant pops, sound bassy, and it doesn't tire you out, despite the ridiculous EURO(5) regulations. And it looks good! It doesn't require replacement at all. As for the downsides - the display is not very clear, but it helps a little to increase the brightness settings to max, the standard setting is low. I would also pay more attention to the rather hard seat in the long run - consider something accessory. I also don't like the "short" clutch, especially in the new one, in the demo with a mileage of about 5k km, it wasn't so noticeable. Vibrations - practically throughout the range, more or less, not like those from a 1 or 2 cylinder bike, but they could be a little less. Tires (Dunlop Roadsport2) - after two days, it's hard to say for sure, because I'm still breaking them in, but I suspect that we won't get along well after losing traction on a decent straight. I ride, I observe. That's probably all for today, I'll ride more and say more.

Ive got a Gsxs as a loan bike while mines in the workshop. Im 6'3" and 19 stone 7, although its a compact bike the ergonomics are spot on for me. The power delivery, quickshifter blipper, suspension, handling everything just work for me. You've got look past the looks of the front end and ride one, its a weapon on the road.

Really looking forward to the comparison! Interestingly there were rumored a new white background color for the LCD screen for the 2023 edition. Hope you'll get your hands on a 2023 version to confirm/debunk this.
Its interesting how I've heard different things about both the breaks and the quickshifter... Some have commented on the breaks being mushy/lacking bite, and some about quickshifter acting up. I must say on my 2022 I have not had a single issue with either, except the quickshifter not working as intended if throttle is not opened up sufficiently.
I also must say, I don't really like the "naked vs hypernaked" or "supernaked vs hypernaked" distinctions.. I mean I get it, a streetfighter V4 is obviously a lot more bike than the GSX-S1000, with stronger track capabilities. Same with the new BMW S1000 RR naked. However lets not fool ourselves - all of these bikes are being ridden mostly on the streets. Only a select few are pushing the "only" nakeds like GSX-S1000, CB1000 or Z1000s even near its limitations. Even a mt-09 is way too much bike for the road both in terms of power and in terms of handling capabilities.
To me, all of these 1000cc, 130bhp+ bikes fall into the same category of supernakeds or hypernakeds. It doesn't matter if they have a bosch IMU or not, or if its 130, 180 or 220bhp. Its all just way beyond what any of us are using them for. Sure we're all horsepower junkies, but lets not act as if it actually matters guys.

The quickshifter is not great on this bike sometimes, when the bike is cold it works very smoothly, but after 20 minutes it feels weird sometimes. At higher RPM's when you use the quickshifter the bike may suddenly stop accelerating, pushing your whole body forward and all of a sudden starts accelerating again. The bike also has a snatchy throttle when shifting or rolling off the throttle and then back on it again slowly. The B and C mode fixes that a good amount, but those problems are not rare, they are on every GSX-S 1000.

  • @chitoloveone7565

I also own the bike in black and I love it .
I have a full exhaust , ecu flash and air filier/ velocity stacks / Ecu flash . The torque is Amazing it pulls all the way up to 150mph .
I replaced the tires with Diablo SUPERCORSA.
This bike handles just as good as my Gsxr1000R. The brakes could be better and I wish it had more top speed. It’s handles great and it’s very nimble. I replaced the battery with a lithium one and saved 9lbs and maybe another 15 lbs with the full Yoshimura .

I've ridden all three of these bike's ( MT10 sp, Gsxs1000, and the CBR1000) and as a personal choice the suzuki did it for me. I loved the looks of the Honda and the engine of the Yamaha but the suzuki seemed to have the best of both worlds.......comfort, performance , that iconic K5 engine and the smoothest quick shifter/gearbox of any machine I've ridden including all your high end exotica machines like the superduke, Ducati, Aprillia etc.
I've never had a problem with the brakes though.....always had plenty of feel and stopping power from those Brembo's. Perhaps its just that particular test bike?
Great review and can't wait to see what you think of the other machines....i bet you'll be in Chopsy's garage with beer's from the fridge giving us a breakdown on your thoughts of each bike. 😊

The brakes on my 2017 SV felt just as vague until I swapped them out for sintered EBC pads all around. Now the rear brake grabs just as well as the OEM fronts used to. It’s unusual for a “new” Suzuki to grab my attention, but I can see myself replacing the SV with this (if the MT09 remains elusive to me, insurance costs considered)

  • @sarahlivingstone8367

I bought a new one in June 2022 and it's grown on me (I wanted a Hayabusa but not prepared to pay that much (£17k compared to my new 2018 one which cost £10,500). It gets used for commuting so it's quite light for filtering between traffic, quite light for manoeuvring and it can be a bit loony. I find the brakes are just fine. Quickshifter was interesting as never used one before and it was almost think about changing and it changed :D I'm probably going to keep mine beyond the PCP (unless I get a great PX offer).

I'm a little disappointed with the review results. This is the first review that doesn’t "love" the GSX s1000, aside from the looks (objective), wooden brake feel (fixed with new pads, and tires (only when riding super aggressively). The important aspects such as power delivery, fuel mapping, quick shifting, handing, and comfort are reported as extraordinary. That deserves more than a 7.5 in my humble opinion. After reading and watching all the reviews, It's my next bike, happening soon. I hope I won't be disappointed.

    • @prndownload
      @prndownload ปีที่แล้ว +1

I've not heard a theme about the brakes being weak or not very good about the bike so it could likely just be that particular loaner bike. While it's not how I would design a bike I find it looks resonable (better than the previous version) and in person I find it looks even better. Well priced, smooth I4 sporty roadster with a 19L tank, reasonable economy, slick gearbox with quick shifter etc. It's going to be a good option for some that use it on a regular basis. If you're just buying a show bike to have a blast on from time to time then there are more preferable bikes that's for sure.
I would happily own one of these and just wind it open everywhere in 1st gear commuting daily.

    Nice mini review by Greg.
Being the owner of an early CB1000R I found this of interest.
No idea of mileage on this bike but I wonder if brakes may improve more miles.
So good to see reference to fuelling when ridden at
low speeds....this is something often overlooked in bike reviews.
A brief mention of tyre specs from the factory would be useful.
No IMU ? I believe this bike has the budget version SIRS electronics suite.... Personally I would like to see more manufacturers offering optional full IMU packages on bikes (like Aprillia do on the Tuono 660).... My view is that an IMU (& associated trickery), is a "safety riding aid" not just a "performance riding aid" (or garnish for bikes with higher ticket prices)....The shocking condition of UK roads (as highlighted in vid), makes cornering abs, lean sensitive traction control, anti wheelie control all quite handy.
If not of rider use then why have same on the V-Strom ?
    Thanks

I have also the first gen cb1000R and I ve ridden the gsxs 1000. So if i may help you at all I'll write my opinion.
The chassis is tighter and gives more info than the CB, also the suspensions are 2-3 clicks better than the CB's. Really liked that while being as friendly as the CB.
Acceleration under 7K is just a little quicker but with an airbox and exhaust howling at you really driving you insane.
After 9K its much faster. Brakes are not up to the task, they are not as good as my C-ABS system so sintered breaking pads or even a Brembo MC is a must. The clutch is not as buttery, the quickshifter works nicely.
LOVED the engine and the howl, a ballsy 1000cc. Didnt have the opportunity to really push it though, maybe then the differences would be greater.
Not a mile ahead from the CB, it's Clearly better though, like 30% better. In contrast the Speed Triple 1200Rs made me think (aside from its downsides that made me not wanna buy it) that in the handling and engine department is from another century.
Still thinking of GSX sometimes thats why i came to check the video...

The tuners who have had these bikes on the dyno seem to think that the MT10 and the GSX-S1000 are very close in real world power to the back wheel but the CB1000 is lacking in comparison.
Both Suzuki and Yamaha seem to pick up the same amount of HP from an exhaust and tune too.
Spoilt for choice. For most people just buy the one you like the look of as they're all great and in isolation you won't be disappointed with any!

While I don't actually know I feel like maybe the Yamaha is just geared much shorter than the suzuki in the first few gears which makes it feel more powerful than it actually is.

    • @UpsideDownFork
      @UpsideDownFork ปีที่แล้ว

@@prndownload could be. Maybe I'll have a look later and see if I can find out. Anecdotal reports say the cross plane crank helps the mid range to be punchier, especially where the GSX-S1000 is underfuelled to meet EU5 emissions.
Some of the guys who get a proper remap on the Suzuki are not only gaining an extra 10whp at the peam but in the mid range the gain is even bigger than the top end gains.
Seems like with half the new bikes these days you have to factor in a remap to get the most of the hardware.

@@UpsideDownFork Yeah I agree it does appear the need to interfere with a stock bike is becoming necessary and worthwhile now as these restrictions increase. I think manufacturers should make it easier to achieve that goal. It should just be a matter of buying a cable and downloading some free software then being able to negate ECU restrictions and restoring full performance.

There's a lot of tests of the 'full fat' version, very few on the 'lite', the GSX-S 1000 badged as a "950" ...any chance of getting the two together for comparison, the 2nd hand price difference is huge?

The first gen had a bunch of problems, worst being the big dip in midrange torque and the gearing. The midrange is fixed now but the gearing is still bad. Race bike gearing on a street bike. 1st gear too high, 6th gear too low. It's the only thing that stopped me buying.
