Good Review. I had a 2015 M5 and you are correct, everything is just right but with power. There is ample room to travel and carry all your toys. But the only negative feature is resale. The M5 loses 1/2 of its MSRP in only 3 years and it goes down from there. So for a used car, it is a great deal but when you are out of warranty, buyer beware. I have been at the dealer's service department and heard the agent say, "we can apply the repairs to multiple credit cards, that is why people lease BMWs because of the repair costs."
Grin ear to ear ... :) It is true - you do feel connected. My 2018 330i is in the shop and it is sorely missed. Driving my mom's truck while the car is under repair is not the same. But I am thankful for the spare ride. Great video. Really enjoyed.
Dan Druft so yeah, fuel costs, tax, insurance and servicing is expensive, but have you compared this to the depreciation a regular £25k car would be? Beautiful car, the alloys, colour and ivory leather is my perfect spec. If the stock market hadn't tanked I'd be taking a trip up the M1. Great review.
It's funny how UK cars are cheap, probably because they can't export their cars to Europe (left hand steering). Same car would cost me 40 000+ pounds in Germany. Crazy.
It's a 6 year old M5, I cannot believe that would be 40k Euros in Germany? Most cars are 50% +/- of their new value at 3 years old here in UK. Some exceptions are exotic, like Rolls Royce Phantoms. 911's are price resilient, true. But not something 'ordinary' (if you will excuse the generalisation) like an M5... which does not get priced like a 911.
The numbers speak for themselves with 412kw (560hp) and torque of 680Nm. 0-100km in 4.3s. That's my type of ride. Highly responsive not to mention sharp handling. This beast is built for the races. If I had the resources which is in progress i'd own two different colours of this car
@Andrew Ball no a nearly 20 year old volvo. 😂. I blew the v10 version as well in a volvo t4 😏😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 back in the day Also. I dislike audi as much as BMW mate.
@Andrew Ball yeah but all that I dusted lol and twice 😂, my t4 was bog standard. My 5 pot has been polestar optimised and the only mod is a impreza intercooler it's a animal and weighs even if not more than a BMW. My t4 was standard I had a dog fight with the v10 and he burnt his clutch out 4 miles later 😂. He couldn't gain on me either 😏. I stopped and reversed and helped the poor git. I bet he's driving a volvo v90 these days.
@Andrew Ball it's not about top speeds it's all about torque and how the car is made 😏. I never forget that day in 2004 lol 😂. Bmws are made for the masses and audis German rubbish I. M. O. Last true BMW was the old 8 seriesi saw one the other day 👍. Even in a horrible ghastly green it looks the daddy
@Andrew Ball I disagree and you are a typical mileninal you don't know how to drive a car properly. Not you're fault but I drove non power steering cars. You can push even a BMW more than what feels safe with power steering you didn't even give the 8 series a cheer that sums you up. I suggest you learn how to drive and listen to the engine 😏.
Thanks Matt , I’m thinking of buying one of these and after watching your marvellous video I’m now convinced I need to test drive one TODAY. Brilliant as always , Ta Matt.
I saw it on Facebook and now after this video, Mate I take my previous comment back and think about going to look for one again. 25k is a bargain if you think about the new price. Shame I live in Germany cause the combination of exterior and interior is marvelous. And what I said last time about the costs, oh well, if you want to have one then expect some. Specials do has a price tag. Cheers Mate
Never really been a BMW fan. (I'm a Jag/Range Rover fan through and through) Especially the M3. The M5 is a different prospect. I never thought I would like that either, but having seen a touring version of it in the beemer garage. It was stunning. An Alpina version was there as well. Awesome looking machine. Just like the XF Sportbrake. I prefer estates. The beemers were glorious in that configuration. Never thought I would say that. 🤔
@@Vaguepaperchasing it was only e60 and F10 I believe. Of course the e39 was only manual, so theres that. I've owned an e60 M5 and it was a skinny pedal
Make sure you get one which has the anti sonic delay interior switch. mpg won't get to 25 because of the temptations of the right foot! These cars induce constant tension because of the extreme threat of theft every time you lock it and walk away.
The best car in the world has to be the BMW 535d estate. All the space, all the badge and on normal roads 95% all the power you would ever need ,and mid 30' s to the gallon. And you can still dream of upgrading to the M5 ,when the kids have grown up.
I'd keep it.. At least for a couple of yrs.. Like fast bikes.. It teaches you control.. More grunt than your best butchers sausage... Cheap for what it can do, and that's honestly, beyond most drivers skills to handle in anger... But wen you do 😊😊😊.. Soo worth the money.. Won't be many more like it. Great vid mate
A cracking motor, no arguments about that. You were right to warn of the high running costs though! At 20,000 miles per annum, averaging 20 miles per gallon at £4.60 a gallon equals nearly £4600 a year in fuel! Add to this, car tax, insurance and an annual service and your running costs are already at £125 per week and that before you factor in any breakdown repairs or depreciation costs. Maybe that’s why I don’t own one 😂
@@HighPeakAutos indeed but the M5 is awesome. I loved your reaction every time you put your foot down. It summed up everything. How many cars can do that at that price point where you can still haul around a family.
Never seen you smile (even laugh) so much. Last year I drove an M4 CS against one of these on an m sport invitation day. It was swating it down and the M5 (4wd) made the rest look silly. M4 CS 480 bhp in the wet is a handful.
I know they are as rare as hens teeth but have you driven an Alpina B5. Interested to know if that legendary suspension lives up to the smooth ride hype whilst still having big power
Yes, I can tell you that it does! On a racetrack, the M5's suspension will see the Alpina off, but only just. But, on a typical UK road there's no discernible difference. The ride on the Aplina is about as good as it gets.
The e39 M5 was more than enough for British roads. You could use all the power a lot more of the time. I enjoyed driving them, but now there are no cheap ones to drive and enjoy. The e60 was a huge leap forwards in power and refinement but the SMG III box needed some learning - it was too demanding - it required the driver to concentrate - it wasn't a get away car, but once it was away there was no catching it. If you have to commute in any slow stop start traffic then avoid the e6x M5/M6 the SMG box has no creep function. The f10 m5 was so much easier to drive. 80 felt like 40 but since you can get points for 23 you have to watch it. Good as a daily, good in slow traffic but does not give you the fizz of a e6x. The F90/G30 is another leap forwards and great if you want to do the Cannon Ball run or live in Germany or a Gulf state.
You always compromise and buy a 550i de-badge it so you don't get the attention. If just over 400bhp isn't enough you can remap it so it makes over 500bhp. Probably about 10k cheaper than a m5 but all comes to if you really want the big power if not buy a 535d
Love the F10 - it's the modern-day E39. And from experience, they are a quick sell also - at least in the Eastern parts of Europe. Have a good one and stay safe!

Without a limiter these should be good for over 200.
Yh, my old e39 did 186mph...👍
best car reviewer on utube imo.
Thanks :)
What a great review!
The car is amazing for starters, and additionally, you highlighted with enthusiasm the pros of the car. Very well done.
Looking forward to many of those.
Thanks for watching :)
635csi lovely
Beautiful car, the alloys, colour and ivory leather is my perfect spec. If the stock market hadn't tanked I'd be taking a trip up the M1. Great review.
It's funny how UK cars are cheap, probably because they can't export their cars to Europe (left hand steering). Same car would cost me 40 000+ pounds in Germany. Crazy.
In Finland you'll get a 520d with 25k€
It's a 6 year old M5, I cannot believe that would be 40k Euros in Germany? Most cars are 50% +/- of their new value at 3 years old here in UK. Some exceptions are exotic, like Rolls Royce Phantoms. 911's are price resilient, true. But not something 'ordinary' (if you will excuse the generalisation) like an M5... which does not get priced like a 911.

@@willardr100 Probably still 100k in Finland
Add another 15-20000 to those 40000 pounds to get any M5 in Norway. And those will be the cheapest high mile cars we have.
The numbers speak for themselves with 412kw (560hp) and torque of 680Nm. 0-100km in 4.3s. That's my type of ride. Highly responsive not to mention sharp handling. This beast is built for the races. If I had the resources which is in progress i'd own two different colours of this car
Yes this car is fantastic
Love to own one .
You're living the dream mate 😍
Hardly it's a BMW
Another brilliant review, can't believe this channel hasn't hit the 100k mark yet, such an underrated offering!
Thank you, very kind
Thanks Matt , I’m thinking of buying one of these and after watching your marvellous video I’m now convinced I need to test drive one TODAY.
Brilliant as always , Ta Matt.
MrDallman Theyre great cars! Thanks for watching
Just discovered your channel excellent content. Brilliant car 👍
Thanks for watching
This car is a beast one drove past me the other day in lyk an orange colour it was gorgeous
Gonna treat myself to this or similar as a weekend toy in the future, try and squeeze in a review on an M760LI if you can mate, great job as always!
Another great, well informed witty review. Keep it up, it's good! Best wishes as always fella. :)
Totally agree with 'Jase M', your content is on the 'spot-on' and you really do seem to like a lot of the cars you test. Regards RichardA
Ahhhh, it has the instant kickdown chuckle feature too 😅
I saw it on Facebook and now after this video, Mate I take my previous comment back and think about going to look for one again. 25k is a bargain if you think about the new price. Shame I live in Germany cause the combination of exterior and interior is marvelous. And what I said last time about the costs, oh well, if you want to have one then expect some. Specials do has a price tag. Cheers Mate
Thanks for watching
I think the f10 m5 is a great car for the money, my dads mate has one of these and loves it. Fuel economy wouldn't put me off
I owned the e39 m5 for 7years, a 2010 M6 for a bit over 3 years, I loved them both ...the F10 and F90 M cars are Super Cars!!!
Good choice!
Nice to see it has the aplomb to get you through Doveholes painlessly!
Absolutely love my 13 M5! So comfortable......so fast. Good video
Theyre terrific cars aren't they
@@HighPeakAutos Absolutely! Kylerumsey7 on Instagram. Check mine out if you get bored.
Well as they've always said the 5 series is The Ultimate Driving Machine, so the M5 must be and should be amazing.
Yeah thats right
Ian TB surely not
Love the M5 very practical and what you want in terms of performance
Right 7 seconds in to the video mate and I can guess your answer YES you would buy one.
This is the car for the true enthusiasts who enjoy having fun under the radar without being flashy 👍🏼 The ultimate Q car 👌🏼
Thats right
Very entertaining for a car enthusiast! Well done!
Never seen a brake pedal so skinny on an automatic... strange but I’ll have one!
Again, great review and keep em coming
They did the same thing on the E60, it's because they are available in a manual transmission.
N54 Moran I’ve driven several BM’s and never seen that before 🙃 Is that unique to the M5?? My E92 3 series never had that
@@Vaguepaperchasing it was only e60 and F10 I believe.
My dream motor, thanks again for another great review
Thanks for watching!
Great vid, I have a new 335d x-drive and love it, can only dream the speed of that beast, thanks
I love my f10 m5 it's fully loaded a way faster than I thought! But my e46 m3 brings me more smiles !!!
I cant wait for some good weather so I can get the roof down on my E46 M3
I'd keep it.. At least for a couple of yrs.. Like fast bikes.. It teaches you control.. More grunt than your best butchers sausage... Cheap for what it can do, and that's honestly, beyond most drivers skills to handle in anger... But wen you do 😊😊😊.. Soo worth the money.. Won't be many more like it. Great vid mate
Thanks! I love it
You really know haw to describe a proper car, thank you m8 and good luck 👍
Thanks 👍
A cracking motor, no arguments about that. You were right to warn of the high running costs though! At 20,000 miles per annum, averaging 20 miles per gallon at £4.60 a gallon equals nearly £4600 a year in fuel! Add to this, car tax, insurance and an annual service and your running costs are already at £125 per week and that before you factor in any breakdown repairs or depreciation costs. Maybe that’s why I don’t own one 😂
This spec its so subtle, if this car was grey with the same wheels, it would look like a luxury spec instead of a M5.
I would love an M5 but a 535D will probably what I will go with next.
you wont go wrong with a 535D David, 👍
I agree. The 535d is excellent too though - more than enough
I bought my self a 535d m sport used approved last year, its ALL the car you will ever need.
@@HighPeakAutos indeed but the M5 is awesome. I loved your reaction every time you put your foot down. It summed up everything. How many cars can do that at that price point where you can still haul around a family.
I love your reviews. good job
Never seen you smile (even laugh) so much. Last year I drove an M4 CS against one of these on an m sport invitation day. It was swating it down and the M5 (4wd) made the rest look silly. M4 CS 480 bhp in the wet is a handful.
You deserve much more views and subs ❤️
I know they are as rare as hens teeth but have you driven an Alpina B5. Interested to know if that legendary suspension lives up to the smooth ride hype whilst still having big power
Yes, I can tell you that it does!
On a racetrack, the M5's suspension will see the Alpina off, but only just. But, on a typical UK road there's no discernible difference. The ride on the Aplina is about as good as it gets.
Thank you for another great video! Now I want an M5!
Good video! I will buy a M5 for sure after watching this video. Great input!
Nice review, thanks.
Greetings from Austria 🇦🇹
Thanks for watching!
Simple short answer = YES, but otherwise a very balanced review from you - except the giggles!
Haha Cheers!
Best review on the M5 👍
Still love this car, stick a tracker in it and keep it. 😍😎👌🏻
You always compromise and buy a 550i de-badge it so you don't get the attention. If just over 400bhp isn't enough you can remap it so it makes over 500bhp. Probably about 10k cheaper than a m5 but all comes to if you really want the big power if not buy a 535d
I got one. And my life is suddenly all that better. :)
Love the F10 - it's the modern-day E39. And from experience, they are a quick sell also - at least in the Eastern parts of Europe. Have a good one and stay safe!
Enjoy your videos Matt. Does it ever not rain where you live?
Fantastic motor. Love that spec combination too. Nice video Matt 👌
Glad you like it!
Now my go to TH-cam watch, you've overtaken the other Matt from Carwow
Thanks! Thats an honour :)
Going to look at one of these tomorrow , are they still a good car in 2023?
Good video matt.. And yes thats exactly what i think about the previous gen m5 ;)
I loved my M5 and managed to get 28mpg on a run just for the hell of it but its pointless buying a car like this to be frugal. The most relaxing maniac of a car I've had and regret selling it
interresting. I have been thinking about getting one lately and this popped up.
great everyday review ' probably gone already
complete car '
cheers
