    Even though I own an A7 mark IV, I still use my old a5000 with the Sony 20mm F2.8 pancake lens for street photography. I also bring it to take photos whenever I'm out riding my motorcycle. It's a really nice and compact setup. Even in low light I bump up the ISO, take the raw photos and run them through Lightroom's AI Denoise tool and they come out amazing. The main downsides are the autofocus which is unreliable by today's standards and the lack of weather sealing.

    My wife had this just sitting around because the lens was broken and making a horrific whirring noise! After spending £80 on a replacement kit lens, it wasn't really worth selling, so I've insisted she use it! I almost kept it but I found it a bit... boring?

    Sorry, but 3:04 this is not totally correct. On the dial, left, right, down, and the center button are customisable. Plus the ? button. This opens up a lot of new opportunities, which make the a5000 so much better. On dial-left I have focus mode instead of shooting mode. On the center button, I have focus field instead of the menu. On ? I have white balance. Together with ISO (dial-right), exposure compensation (dial-down) and shooting in aperture mode, this is a totally different camera than just shooting in Auto, or aperture mode without changing the buttons. Otherwise, thanks for advertising this little old power house :)

    I still love t his little camera. I got rid of my other mirrorless APS-C a6000 and the better lenses I had bought for them. I just traded off my Sony A7RII full-frame because I keep reaching for my Canon 6D and wasn't really using the extra MP of the battery hog A7RII. I traded that for a Canon 80D. I have quality glass in Canon. BUT... I kept the a5000 with the two kits lenses the 16-55 is pancake size when the camera is off.) and the Samyang 12mm manual focus. It's just a fun, compact little camera to kick around with. I have the Sigma MC-11 EF to E adapter. Surprisingly with the 24-70mm f2.8 and 70-200mm f2.8 EF lenses work well adapted to the a5000. I have to say that putting that big 70-200 on that little body looks like a mouse trying to have sex with an elephant. You mount the camera to the lens, not the lens to the camera. Not practical, but useable. Sure, the a5000 isn't on par with more modern and more expensive cameras. But for a neat, compact little camera that can still deliver some solid images if you know how to use it well, even with the kit lenses. Better with the nicer lenses. Definitely more inconspicuous. Nobody pays much attention if I have the little a5000 out. Let me step out with the DSLR and the big f2.8 zooms and people start asking me who I shoot for. (I did do it for a living back in the day but not for a while now.) When my EF-S 24mm f2.8 STM comes in I'll have to try it on the a5000 with the adapter.

      @HammadxHassan  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you think you will upgrade to a full-frame sony camera in the future, then definitely get the 50mm 1.8 since its the cheapest full-frame lens you can currently buy.
      However, if you buy APS-C lenses, they are cheaper than full-frame. The ones I recommend would be sigma 16mm f1.4 and sigma 56mm f1.4 to cover you for most situations. If you want a zoom lens, then sony 18-105 f4, would be another choice.
      Hope that helps.

    I am a beginner in photography and received this camera as a gift. However, it does not have a lens attached to it. When I turn the camera on, the camera screen looks real blurry like. Is this because I do not have a lens?

    • @HammadxHassan
      @HammadxHassan  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes you need a lens to get a clear photo. IF you have a lens and the photo is STILL blurry, then it’s most likely the sensor or even the lens itself. But I’m sure if you put a lens on it, the photo image will be fine. Just make sure the lens is in functioning condition.

    Great review! Not everyone is flush with cash! I got one of these with kit lens collecting dust. I used it a bit when I first started doing car reviews but now I use GP9 GP8 and DJI Pocket 2. I have wanted to integrate this and have thought it may even be better just for thumbnail shot, what do you think about grabbing a still from Pocket 2 video or even a photo from Pocket 2 vs this a5000? I want to get a zv-e10 soon and I need wide but compact lenses for in car shots never need zoom, what lens would you recommend? A lens I could breath new life into the a5000 with then use on the ZV would be awesome!

    • @HammadxHassan
      @HammadxHassan  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks I'm glad the review was useful. I think grabbing stills from a video, either from a sony or pocket 2 is not ideal, because taking a separate photo as a thumbnail is more beneficial, especially with the sony as the photo will be RAW thus more room to edit it.
      And in regards to the lens, since you're looking for a wide-angle one, I would steer you towards a 24mm which would be a 35mm equivalent on the a5000 and ZVE10 (APS-C). The FE 24mm F2.8 G Lens is a good choice. You can usually grab one online for $770AUD. Maybe cheaper on eBay or Facebook marketplace. Hope this helps!

    Hi, so do you know the g7x sunset portrait photos viral on tiktok? Do you think it can recreate that with the flash of this camera?

    • @HammadxHassan

      It should be possible, but the flash in those photos looks “soft” like it has been diffused. The only way to know for sure is to try it and if the flash is too harsh, just soften it with some tissue or any semi-transparent material.

    • @HammadxHassan
      @HammadxHassan  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nope. Didnt change anything. The quality of the full frame lens looks better because the aperture is 1.8, which means more light, and better image at night time. Compared to the kit lens which has lowest aperture at 3.5, therefore, darker image and more noise.

      The APS-C lenses from Sony would be great for it. Especially the newer ones. But if you decide to upgrade to a full frame camera, then you’ll have to buy new lenses from scratch.
      So option 1. Buy APSC lenses, then sell them when/if you upgrade.
      2. Buy a versatile full frame lens, then if you upgrade or buy a new full frame camera body, just use that lens with it.
      Up to you.

      If used handheld at low light situations then yes, I suppose. It is not stabilized, so you really have to have steady hands to get good results, otherwise you will get blurry mess. That is also why all these shots he took were underexposed as it is hard to get good results in low light with it when it is handheld, have to have faster shutter speed which lets in less light.
      But put it on tripod or pair with a really good lens in those situations and you can go further than any iPhone if you know what you are doing, cause it is still a much larger sensor, so gets in much more light.
