1. It can shoot FULL 1920x1080 HD if your aspect ratio is set to 16:9 instead of 3:2
2. It can shoot up to 24 mbps not limited to 17mbps - No blu ray necessary.
If you choose a 16:9 aspect ratio you get full 1920 x 1080 video and you don't need to burn it to a blueray you can just ignore that and record. It just mentions that because at the time the camera came out it was normal to do that

I bought a A5000 for 30 Euro's on Marketplace a few days ago and used it for landscape photography (manual settings). It is at it's best with clouds and reflections in the water. It captures the light beautifully and is definitely an addition to my camera collection.

While the a6000 is better in pretty much everything, the a5000 simply just FEELS better at the hands.
I believe that the a5000 is an amazing option if you do a lot of street photography, it really feels that it encourages you to just shoot, and be more creative.
On the other hand, the a6000 has all the tools you could need if you want to dive into doing work as a photographer (the EVF, the two dials and like twice as many buttons). It does perform decently well in low-light situations, specially with an f/1.8 lens.

Bought a sony a5000 for 80 euro with the 16-50 kit lens and I already love it! 😊
I use a5100's and have several of them. I have paid an average of 250 usd each -- it's so close in price, I wouldn't buy the a5000. At 250 each, I would choose the a5100 over the ZV-E10. a5100 has Phase Detect AF, flip-up 180degree screen, touch to focus, SD Card on the side instead of battery compartment The 1080p is really good. Looks same as an a6000. But for the a5000, probably wouldn't do it. Cheers.

Hey. I'm currently looking at a Sony A5000 and Sony A58, they cost the same for me with a kit lens as a complete beginner. They are fairly similar. The A58 is not mirorrless but it does have a hot shoe mount, microphone input, sensor shift stabilization and has the exact same sensor and it uses phase detection for autofocus and has an in body AF motor, and a better processor allowing for 1080p30 video instead of 1080p24 and has an electronic view finder. However the A5000 does seem to score better in DXOmark and is significantly lighter and is a mirorless camera. Which one should I get?
Pretty easy decision if it was me. I’d get the a5000 because of the e mount lens type the A58 uses and obsolete A mount. If you need the viewfinder save a bit more and get the a6000, good luck :)

yes I know what you mean - if you want the background to be not blurry go to a high aperture in the camera like f16 and if you want there to be blur in the background just lower the aperture to something low like 1.8

do you need long record times? I think the a5000 is 15 mins and the 5100 is 30 minutes - you could record your audio externally and then sync it with either of the cameras in 1080p :)

I don't think built in but I think you could for sure use it for stop motion!
how's the audio when video recording? Can you plug in external mic?
no external mic option, and the audio is just ok but you could run an AI adobe podcast over the internal audio and be pretty good!
@@MattyDCCollins I bought the a5000 yesterday for only $150. Good deal isn't it? Second hand obviously, but very good condition. I decided to record audio separately and sync on computer. I had been thinking about it for years to get a system camera. My only other camera us an old 4 year old $200 Xiaomi Redmi Note. I figured instead of spending much more money on a phone with a good camera (only for the camera) it makes more sense to get a separate camera for that

not a bad comparison, I like having interchangeable lenses personally so the a5000
I consider about choosing canon g7x or a5000. How about your view on these two camera.
Both great camera's, personally I would stick to the a5000 because of the interchangeable lens option and so many good new lenses have come out for e mount since 2014.

Yea it would be fine for that! No viewfinder but you could use the screen and just make sure you have nice lighting

I have this camera and i did a video test. And this camera HAS NO OVERHEATING! My camera recorded more than 1 hour and 20 minutes (max bitrate, AF, kit lens). I am was shoked with it

Where are the images? We can read the specs ourselves... The important thing to be answered is how do the images/video stack up today vs newer cameras. That's the whole point of a vid like this - what a waste man
