    PRO TIP: they sell plastic clamps at Harbor Freight and online that are specifically for clamping down line with fluid. They are basically like vise grips, except they fully are plastic (so they are less likely to tear rubber hoses) and the jaws are flat to fully seal the hose together when you ratchet them tight. I use a couple of these when changing out cooling or fueling components and usually don't lose hardly any fluid

    What symptoms was it having before replacing the pumps?

    Hi everyone. Hope you can help me out on this one. I am having fuel leakage problems with my 230E W124. The leak seems to start from the fuel line going to the fuel filter and I can't bring it to the workshop since the fuel can't reach the engine anymore. What do you call the hose/fuel line that I plan to replace?
    Questions:
    1. Can I remove the complete assembly on my own without the need of special tools?
    2. Is there a way that I can isolate this particular line so that I can repair the leak? (I tried wrapping the line with duct tape but eventually failed)
    3. What is the process involved in repairing the line? Is it through crimping or can I use a hose clamp instead?
    Thanks much for the feedback and answers!

    Also, why did you not bleed the air out of fuel lines via the fuel test port, located front/top of the engine, under a plastic cover, prior to cranking the engine?

    Send your crush washers so that they are smooth if you're going to reuse them

    Hi can you please share the part numbers for the bosch pumps and the filter ,, ,also is this fuel pump assembly similar to the 1992 sl300?

    • @Damiansgarage
      @Damiansgarage  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’m not exactly sure if the SL 300 has the same fuel pump set up but I would believe so. Also you can just go to your local AutoZone and they can actually look it up for you, you might have to order it from autozone but if you do it early enough you might get them the same day.

    Hi, I have a 96 SL500 and the car turns off randomly at idle. Do you think it can be the fuel pumps?
    PS. Greeting from Poland :D

    • @Damiansgarage
      @Damiansgarage  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Całkiem możliwe, może jedna z pomp nie chodzi podobny problem był w tym SL, Tyle że jak mu dałeś więcej gazu to gasł, okazało się że jedna Pompa nie działa. Również pozdrawiam ze słonecznej Kalifornii :)

      Probably a position crank sensor. That’s the usual symptom of a broken position crank sensor.

    I’ve got a 96 its been sitting a while, it only starts with starter fluid and it instantly cuts off after any ideas?

    • @Damiansgarage
      @Damiansgarage  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’m not exactly sure because 96 is a completely different fuel injection system with Regular electric fuel injection instead of the k-jet system, but if it starts of starting fluid I would definitely start with testing out the fuel pumps first, can you hear them coming on when you turn the key on?

    What caused all the gas to spill?

    • @Damiansgarage
      @Damiansgarage  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The gas being gravity fed to the outside fuel pumps which basically means the second we disconnected the hose from the gas tank to the fuel pump assembly all the gas that was left over in the tank just drained itself

      Oh 😬
      Is that inevitable when you are changing the fuel pump?
      Also, how is the car running now?

  • @reggielamay3870

    How did you find out it was the fuel pump ??

    • @Damiansgarage
      @Damiansgarage  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The car was still running but it had low fuel pressure so we assume it’s going to be one of the pumps

    • @reggielamay3870
      @reggielamay3870 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      My friend has a 90 500sl and he said he had to keep pressing on the gas for the car stay running. I spray starting fluid in the carb and it runs till
      I stop spraying. Does it sound like a fuel pump issue? Thanx for your reply.

    • @Damiansgarage
      @Damiansgarage  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not really because that would mean that both fuel pumps went out it’s most likely that the k-jet system that went out When you were spraying that starter fluid you were not spraying it into the carb because the car doesn’t have a carb it has k-jet which is a very complicated mechanical fuel system designed by Bosch. So most likely that’s what causes the issue

    • @marcs8653
      @marcs8653 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi , I just would like you confirm something , the inner nuts on the fuel pumps are 8mm and they are ground and the outer ones are 7 mm and they are the power wires .. in the video you mention them to be the reverse .. my fuel pump part number is 580254049

    Great job, but worth noting, you could have a serious accident and have very bad injuries having gas on the floor like that. It’s very dangerous
