    The purpose of dual Fuel pumps is to provide maximum fuel pressuare at all times, gives more accurate throttle response, less input lag, especially in levitated areas. One builds pressure in to the other one, and then to the engine. The reason why some year models are only 1 is as straight as reducing cost. after 93-94 models, alot of things were done to reduce cost on the car. Aka quality reduction. Singel fuelpumps also tends to wear out quicker in my experince. I still have my duel fuel pumps from 93 that works like a charm still. Keep up the good work my dude:D Hope you installed the fuel filter the correct way this time hehehe:D

      Lol. Yeah I realized the only fuel filter you can instal wrong is the prong style ones. The threaded ones like I have on this car only go on one way.

    I have a 98 r129 and an 11 w212. I HATE it when I go to fix something and find that a previous bonehead owner has jerry-rigged something just to get by. I have to spend twice the time and twice the money to put it back to original. These are beautiful, wonderful cars that should be treated properly.

    Hello Pete and everyone else, I'm having an issue with my 95 s420. In a nutshell, the MOG gage can shoot up to the lowest mile per gallon I can get even when the car is just coasting. Or it can be the other way around, the gas pedal might be all the way to the floor but I'm getting the best mileage possible according to the gage. Any idea what might be the problem? Thanks.

    Hey man how did you deal with tank strainer. My 92 600 strainer is not working properly. The part # 129-479-02-06 is not available.Not getting good fuel flow out of tank.

      So never messed with tank strainer. Was too worried I wouldn’t get it to seal correctly so left it alone and swapped out the tank

    You should stop messing about with fuel system and change the crank shaft sensor as you have classic crank shaft sensor issues, you will need to take a pre facelift sensor from one of your part cars

    • @petescarport
      @petescarport  ปีที่แล้ว

      I wouldn’t put it past the crank sensor but being that it wouldn’t even start some times and fuel pump was dead, fuel line was rotted and leaking, and filter was clogged I had to start here. Also after filming I found four vacuum lines that were not connected. Have no clue when they came off but once I put them back it ran amazing agajn.

      @raycroal ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@petescarportas the car gets warm the wires in the sensor expand and loose contact the car cuts out and will not start again until it cools down

      @@raycroal yup totally know and it’s been an issue I had. I’m not counting this out but I know it’s also fuel related. I may order a crank sensor anyways just to get that out. Super appreciate as always the fill in. I learn as I go and comments always help

    • @raycroal

      @@petescarport I believe the pre facelift crank sensors are pretty expensive would one of your part cars not have the the same sensor just to swap before you buy

      Just a quick search found a few and cheap one for $25. www.partsgeek.com/1hqvmwz-mercedes-s500-crankshaft-position-sensor.html?UK&PartsGeek+Google+Base&+Mercedes+S500+Crankshaft+Position+Sensor+Autopart+Premium+94-95+Mercedes+Crankshaft+Position+Sensor&cid=18313611776&gclid=Cj0KCQjwqNqkBhDlARIsAFaxvwzI8V49gj_LY-mc-ntch_esA8R1G8hecKNlDXzI-83OsOex35tHX0oaAt-EEALw_wcB

    Good Stuff. Add a bottle of Chevron w/techron will help if that tank is clean. Don't know it your car has a fuel accumulator but if it does replace that too?

    • @petescarport
      @petescarport  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah thanks. I’m always running fuel cleaners and love the Techron stuff too. Ironically the fuel pump set up I have on the car now has an accumulator. I was going to by pass it but wasn’t sure what would happen. I may order a new one but car is runnng amazing now. I found a few vacuum lines that were bad and it made a world of difference

    • @rioraton
      @rioraton ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@petescarport What the accumulator does is keeps pressure in the system so when you go to start the car a day or two later it does not have to pump gas all the way from the tank. It is kinda like if you run out of gas then you have to grind on the starter to get the fuel up to the tank. Reason I know I have a 92 500sl and mine went out..the diaphragms wear out and so every time I went to start the car it was as if I had run out of gas and I had to grind on the starter to pump the gas up to the motor

      Secondary cat delete and a medium size Magnaflow that I don’t know the model. It was one the muffler shop I went to had as old stock.
