Thank you for your updates on espresso equipment, I really enjoyed it 😊 Right now I am thinking about getting a Bravo or the force tamper. Right now I really like mechanics and functionality of the force tamper with the extra punch it gives. But if it’s good or not I don’t know.
I have the tamper/wdt combo. I have matched the size of the tamper to press down to the razor tool height, with a puk screen. I never have to press hard though. I have 18g grind, 36g extraction, and a dry puck I can pick up after extraction. I have messed around with grind time and size to get those weights though. Is my way wrong in theory?
@@GadgetsGearCoffee thank you so much! You're incredibly easy to listen to, I was meant to come across this! I'll listen again in the morning, it's nearly midnight, and this is too much science with no coffee in hand for this time of night! Appreciate you
@@GadgetsGearCoffee playing around with the weight!!! Took me three weeks of testing, tasting, calculating and serious note taking to get to where I am 🤣
@@Weirtoe when you change coffees, grind size, the cofffee ages, it's likely you will need to play with weight a bit, you may not need to. There are just too many factors tbh. I have the slayer mod and I don't need to adjust my weight unless I switch roast levels like dark, light etc. but if you're happy with the cup you're getting then stick with what's working
@@henrykg I guess that's because it hasn't been pressed like the rest of the puk, inside that ring will be packed tight, the ring will be loose. Id imagine that would cause channelling, water would pour through that first.
@Weirtoe I tested it and used 55mm tamper in 58mm basket (for 15g of coffee) - extraction was a little bit uneven but no channeling. For 3mm difference quite surprising. So "perfect-fit tampers" are a myth. However they have one advantage: easier to get leveled tamp if you are not experienced.
What a true Canadian, using hockey references for comparisons.🇨🇦❤️
You are awesome ... I didnot know I needed temper knowledge in my life!

you should be playing around with the weight too depending on the coffee itself

Looking at the normal dose or the happy tamper myself currently 🤷
those look great! puck options with "self leveling"
Settled on the normal dose. It looks so smooth and is quiet. More Zen to my coffee making ~
Week point because of little bit of coffee around the edge? LOL 😂
