since i'm late to the XS20 review party, here's me sorta playing around with a fun review idea! does anyone else turn to reddit for reviews before they buy stuff?? haha
I actually made my decision to purchase the xs-20 because of reddit too lol. But I've since bought the Xh2s for professional work, loved the xs-20 though! super powerful and fun to use.
@@shootstitch149 hahaha that's my setup as well and I'm glad this "review" format resonated 🤣 isn't it kinda funny that we all kinda do it but I don't often see reddit acknowledged by youtube(rs) haha!
@@johnstamw I think it's because most of us want more "visual" references instead of reading about it lol. But Reddit does help with honest opinions IMO. It's like, TH-cam for window shopping, and Reddit for confirmation hahahaha.
Love your work, btw! You and Blase are my go-tos for everything FujiFilm filming related, keep up the good work!
*wins award for "most creative, while simultaneously helpful approach to a camera review"
Bro please upload more XS-20 videos. I will watch all of them.
Editing , shooting, lenses etc with this camera. Pls pls
thats good feedback! anything very specific you want to know?
+1 on lenses (I have the 18-55 in the kit) settings also interesting although you cover a lot in your other videos
2:32 actually worth mentioning, the XT-3 and the X-S20 both use the X-Trans IV sensor, the difference is the X-S20 has the X-processor 5 from the newest (as of writing this) generation.
Totally misspoke there, you nailed it!
dude also your channel is great! to anyone reading this: go check this guy out^
Doesn't this mean the x-s20 suffers from Fuji's recent AI autofocus issues?
@@mipmipmipmipmip my solution is just never updating firmware that already works 😅 haha but on a serious note I wouldn’t know actually!
X-S20 user here. Sold my X-T4 for it. I love the little thing it's a beast and the bang for buck is great. A lot of my newer videos were filmed with it!
the value is seriously insane for what it's producing
if you don't know of @hudsonvalleycreative on Instagram you should! good friend of mine.
@@johnstamw oh interesting I’m not sure I know but I’ll reach out! Small world!
Would love to see how you setup your X-S20! I like what you said about working around the autofocus tracking limitations. Nice review and God bless you!
I might have to do that, we’ll see!
Great video. Looking to get the XS20 this fall maybe early next year. This video was helpful. The X-H1 is a great camera though. I’ve been using it for a little over 2 years and although it has it quirks, it is a great hybrid camera.
The XH1 is an unsung hero and misunderstood but a fit of a Fuji fumble with timing, etc. haha still awesome tho!
I love my X-S20! I took the risk buying it on pre-order when I heard about the specs, but it hasn’t disappointed me whatsoever. It’s a great hybrid camera for hobbyists and is an all around great package.
Couldn’t agree more! Even for my professional use cases it has been a tremendous value!
Loved this video. I have no intentions of getting this camera but I just love what you do. I've been watching your videos for XT3 advice and Fuji advice overall. I have your LUTs and my clients love their videos. Bought the Sigma 18-35 after your high praises and it's exactly as good as you say. Thank you for your hard work! Really appreciate you.
I do have a question with you recording with the X-T3 in this. Were you using auto focus?
well thanks a ton, that's too kind. Seriously thank you!! oh and it was a sirui sniper lens and I think I did use AF maybe? I can't remember, but I can vaguely remember that manually focusing this shot solo was just really tough so I think I used AF but don't quote me on it
If it had dual slots, there wouldn't be a hesitation. Not quite ready for an XH2s and don't need 40MP so for now I'm grateful for how good my XT4 still is. Beautiful video!
couldn't agree more! If you need an insanely good fuji b-cam for affordable (especially spot them used) then I think it's the perfect camera for that
Fair points. I like this approach for reviews based on Reddit opinions 👍🏻
BTW which lens did you use for filming? It flares so hard I can barely see your face at some sections of the video
its kinda fun right? and this was a bit of a torture test for sirui sniper either 23 or 33 I can't remember actually. I did know they have flares that I love 98% of the time, but I wanted to know how it would go with no hood and pointed right at the sun basically haha
hey man, I shoot on panasonic for my video production work. I want a small almost point and shoot camera. I am looking at the xt30ii & xs20. I dont want a 100v since ill want to change lenses. Looking for this camera to be a family camera and honestly the lumix s9 doesnt impress me. My hesitation with the xt30ii is that it doesnt have 10bit internal. seems like it doesnt matter since i wont use it professionally. is getting the xs20 overpowered? is it way bigger than the xt30ii? Should I get over it and be fine with 8bit in the xt30ii? help? lol also what small lens do you recommend?
@@ChrisFlores22 XS20 with Fuji’s 18-55 is coming thru Europe with me rn when I wanted a small portable setup. Downside: It’s not Fuji aesthetic and lens isn’t bokeh-ful. So the opposite would be silver xt30ii and a meike 25mm manual lens. Somewhere in between is the Sirui Sniper series which I like, used on either body. I’d go XS20 if video is priority and XT30 if photo!
@@johnstamw thanks 🙏🏻 and safe travels!
Fuji could consider dual micro sd cards uhs-II instead of single sd card. The X-S20 is a camera that I'm always in the look out in the second hand market, but I'm curious if Fuji is willing to improve it in the X-S30.
that's an incredibly interesting idea that i've never considered. what would happen if a manufacturer did take seriously the quality of modern micro-sd cards?? wow.
@@johnstamw think about it, these cards are already used in drones, 360 cameras, action cameras, vlogging/gimbal cameras, and point-and-shoot cameras are making a come back.
Where one could fit a single normal sized sd card, could physically have 2 micro sd cards. I'd rather have some form of backup than none at all.
I believe Lumix if I'm correct made a camera with one normal sd card and one micro sd card for backup, so 2 micro sd cards isn't so farfetched.
@@williamaungleyraud i really hope manufacturers take this option seriously cuz you're dead accurate
I don't care that it's a single card slot, but I HATE that the card slot is in the battery compartment. That said I'm renting this camera in the next couple weeks for a wedding and I'm stoked to use it. I've got an XT3 and this seems like a great upgrade from it. (I won't be selling my XT3 never letting that baby go, just want something to pair with it)
you're scaring me filming wedding without redundancy 😨haha but yeah card in the battery compartment is definitely a "beginner camera" signature that feels out of place here. Aside from you scaring me I'll say that upgrade path is brilliant in every other way that I can think of!
Xs20 is great 👍 I using a lot for my video
Same actually!! Couldn’t agree more!
i need that 2024 Xt3 Worth it!!
Oooo you mean a video idea about that?
@@johnstamw Yeah, weather it is worth buying in 2024 and why😊
