    I really like the point that you made about how Netero could have taken hold of the world if he really wanted to, but chose not to. You really did him justice.

    I’m so glad that I found your video on reddit you definitely deserve a sub. Finally someone who sees hunterxhunter not just as your typical “ shounen” anime it goes way Beyond that and all the characters in HxH are so well written especially Netero and I feel like we would probably get more to know about him in the dark continent arc

    I always liked Netero, and my favorite part about the video was how he structured the brackets based on his ideologies. That's such a neat touch I never noticed.

    Holy frick, I was looking for someone to explain Netero's character, and I struck gold with this video. You have cemented Netero as one of my favorite characters in fiction with your simple yet deep explanation of Netero. Great work!

  • @Plasmyte
    @Plasmyte 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    The greatest historical comparison for Netero would have to be Miyamoto Musashi, a great example of samurai philosophy and Zen, which is very Daoist influenced making it relevant to Netero's Buddhist imagery and ascesis (rigorous training geared towards enlightenment) and your incorporation of the balance of Yin and Yang (The Way). Musashi's advice is deep in his emphasis of focusing inward, and many lines of it would apply to Netero perfectly. “Today is victory over yourself of yesterday; tomorrow is your victory over lesser men.”
    Well-done video on a character I don't see people look into much besides obvious Buddhist imagery.

    Lady Guanyin, the namesake for Netero's ability, is the bodhisattva of compassion and mercy. Her purpose is to protect and guide others towards the path of enlightenment.

    I don't really get it. You say Netero hates the weak and then you say he believes they should be protected. Is that not a contradiction?

    • @elijahkaiva8058
      @elijahkaiva8058  3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      I think Netero doesn't have respect for the weak rather than hatred. So I could have phrased it a bit better.

    • @user-kq1kz1kg9h
      @user-kq1kz1kg9h 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Because it's not true , Pariston said that Netero never "understand" weak people , but never he showed anything like disrespect or hatred towards weak , Gon and Killua was weaker than Knuckle and Shoot but he said to them that he looks only for strong , so become strong and come back , that is how it is.

    • @michaelyu6250
      @michaelyu6250 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@elijahkaiva8058 If he doesn't have respect for the weak then why does he want them to be protected? I'd say you have to have some sort of respect for someone if you want them to be protected.
