I worked for a insurance company before and I used to feel so bad telling people they were denied for services and medicine their doctor ordered and says they need it because they didn’t have the benefit or meet a certain criteria with a prior authorization or can’t afford their out pocket expense.And trust and believe believe I used to get cussed out. Had someone threaten to kill me and others threaten to kill themselves. It’s a fucked system, it’s a business money game💰
What’s the best solution for cases like these? I’m a pre-dental student and have been thinking about this type of stuff .
@@Dentajay they have appeal rights if a service is denied and they can file a complaint with there insurance for the denial. But that doesn’t always work if the person has no benefit for certain services the insurance doesn’t cover it, but if they have the benefit but the prior authorization was denied then I have seen some denials be overturned with appeals. I seen woman with insurance with no maternity benefits meaning they had no coverage for the inpatient delivery cost so they had pay out pocket but they would get a discount.
I have had these conversations with patients too, it’s never fun
I had stomach pain for years, and I had a doctor tell me that the pain was in my head. Fast forward a few weeks later, I ended up in emergency surgery with a grapefruit size tumor that was attached to my ovaries that erupted 16:12

Winter, go see a PCP and get a referral to a neurologist. They will then order an MRI. My face went numb and was tingling, no one believed me or knew what was going on. I then started itching everywhere and found out I have MS. don’t ignore this and keep trying. They ignore you and give you the run around but keep pushing

As a single mom with a full time job, I appreciate you made that video, I suffer from tmjd my disc is out of place from my jaw and that is most definitely medical but where I live they consider it dental or can’t bill my medical insurance which is crazy, I’ve had to suffer with, headaches/ migraines, ear pain, facial pain and jaw pain. Sometimes I can’t function but I have too because I have 2 daughter. But thanks winter when I saw your video I felt so much hope that one day they change the way they do is with the health system

You handle the negative energy from the viral video so well you have matured so much. 💕

People that haven’t gone through chronic pain or chronic illness tend to have a hard time understanding just how life altering it is. Being miserable day after day wears on your soul. And having a doctor say things like “it’s all in your head” is infuriating. I fired a doctor for the same thing. Mind you, she said something like that and “you shouldn’t still be having symptoms” BEFORE she then checked my ears and saw that I did in fact, have a VISIBLE symptom that she could see herself. That was one of many weird symptoms that I still have to this day. There’s so much more I could say but to sum it up - Having chronic health issues is a messed up journey that includes A LOT of appointments that are often just DISappointments. It’s hard. We just want to feel like someone hears us and sees us.
