Love all your videos but especially love your river videos. I started pikin a few years ago on the river, and have branched out since like it seems you have too, but its great seeing you out exploring the good ol DPR Jungle. I also got my first gar last year too, I was pumped 😂🔥
Dang thats crazy, I've seen a decent amount of gar in the river over the years but they all look to be about a tenth of the size of the one you caught 😅 so I don't know how to catch em but I always see them splashing out in the summertime.

I knew they were in there just never saw them that far north always down south by where it merges
Wow a Gar
So weird man they tore all the dams out of the river a few years ago and it changed everything
I still have yet to catch a gar in the DPR. I usually get smallies and largemouth in that stretch of river. Nice video!
What part of the Des Plaines River is that?
I remember when you first started using that jointed fluorescent Rapala lure…
Yeah they still work too
You seen alot of Gar by that area? What about Sauger?
That's the first gar I've ever seen in that area I have seen a couple sauger as well
I use to fish that bridge back in the 80's only caught small catfish
Things have changed I used to catch nothing but pike and cats then they took the dams out and it changed everything!
ReGARdless
I had no clue we had needle gar up here
Yeah it's because they tore out all the dams , also we have sauger, Walleye smallies and largemouth in population now!!
What stretch is this I wanna see some gar!
What part of the Des Plaines River is that? I wonder if I could kayak on it.
The dam # 1 stretch in wheeling
@@nickthepiker thanks
So gar like those worms too. I can't get gar to bite anything.
Yeah I couldn't believe it either crazy man!!
