At 17 I'd have donated my left happy sack for a bike like that! It looks fantastic. Unfortunately, plonk an overweight 45 year old on one and it would look less cool. Also the price is a bit steep. Think of the range of used bikes that are open to you for that money. Lastly, those side mounted filters are a real pain. They work with dedicated forward controls but not with mid pegs. I was close to buying an XV 950 when they came out but when I sat on one the filter jabbed into my inside knee and was massively uncomfortable. My old vulcan 750 had a V with its filter mounted next to the front cylinder and made much more sense.
Great review, makes me want to add one to the "stable" ("76 Yam. XS650C and"82 Honda CB650SC Nighthawk)of bikes I have already! This would be great around my area! Thanks, Shiny Side UP!
I fully agree. Bought a 2005 model of the Varadero a year ago and while it's obviously underpowered compared to the 100+ HP bikes I'm used to I'm so impressed with how well it deals with city traffic while at the same time allowing even "longer" (well, 50-100 km) trips without the tiring vibrations normally associated with single cylinder bikes.
Great review thanks, I’m looking at a 125 learner just passed my CBT and it’s a minefield out there lol. My budget was about 4 grand plus about 600 -700 notes for insurance for London. I was toying between FB Mondial HPS, AJS Scrambler, Mutt Hilts but the more I look, I see a lot of 125’ers on the same frame and clone GN engine….. so this is different and looks meaty. One to look at aswell thanks. Cheers 👍🍻
Was looking at this and a keeyway superlight 125 just seeing which is best value for new 41 year old rider. Currently running a 50cc on grampa licence lol
That exhaust looks pants and surely it should be capable of doing 70+ mph after all the honda Varadero was a V twin and same bhp which was a 70mph bike
Interesting comment about the air filter. I'm a bit on the short side and things jabbing in to one's thighs are one of the reasons I didn't buy the Benelli Motobi 200 EFI / Keeway Superlight. The V-twin engine might look great, but it only tops out at the legal limit of 14bhp and the exhaust note is a bit mediocre. How would you compare it with the Keeway K-Light or the Sinnis Hoodlum?
@@milano3239 from experience of seeing various cheap Chinese motorbikes, this being one of them, the quality of materials used is low (as reflected in the price), bit of rain and road salt, rust appearing everywhere. You would be better off buying a used 125 Honda, Kawasaki etc.
unfortunately the motorbike did not enter the Indonesian market even though it is very suitable for the traffic situation here because the motorbike with big cc is seems useless with the traffic jam
For me, it's lovely that it's a v-twin. But if you look you can find similar bikes with single-cylinder engines for over a grand less, brand new. I think the premium for the v-twin is too much. Especially for a 17/18 year old. It's nicer, but nearing 50% when it doesn't offer any more performance and is mainly an aesthetic change.... I dunno. If you're buying it as a cheap commuter then you probably don't care about the v-twin and if you're buying it as a learner bike on the way to something bigger you probably don't want to spend that much. So... Nice, but worth the extra??
They can build a 650 later, they have the engine. It will sell, cheaper than the Forty Eight and Boober Black, better looking than the Rebel and V9 Bobber.
Yes but their bikes are build like crap, may look better than a Rebel but a Rebel would outlive it even if you ignore servicing, THATS how bad Hyosungs are.
Cracking bike for the money; but… the Honda Forza 125 is an even better bike albeit for 5k brand new, and its twist and go which just makes for a smoother ride; and to boot, it’s nippy off the lights and smooth as to ride. I’m torn whether to buy another Forza or this one. Perhaps the storage under the Forza seat might twist my arm, as you can fit 2 helmets it in, or three full carrier bags in it too.
Most probably that gap is for the shorties who have tough time reaching the handles...And then they got bigger balls ...so those balls can rest in between that gap? :p
Nice looking bike. But not quick enough to keep up with moden day traffic. Thats where alot of 125cc makers go wrong. I think every 125cc top speed should be 70mph. And a bit more poke on the power level. So u can get out of harms way, when u need to.
It could be the perfect 125 cruiser, but why couldnt they place the pegs some cm fruther forward, make the sound a bit fuller and robust and give it 1 HP more? The biggest problem really is the sound for me, its like a mowing machine!
We have a 300cc version of the same bike over here in Hong Kong (and I assume other Asian markets?) looks like the same frame, wheels, tank, all that except the engine.
