My favourite piece of gear I bought in 2019 has to be my $4 foot tambourine, gotta love christmas vibes all year long. Just close your hi-hat, and have some fun with a new sound around your left foot!
Really enjoy the honesty about the products and the reviews as well. It’s really awesome knowing that it’s about what will make the craft of your drumming better and helping you find your own sound with new tools and gear. Thank you for the reviews!
Oh man it’s an honor to have you respond! I just wanted to say that what you do is awesome! I played drums for bands a while ago, but wanted to change up and challenge myself. Your video about ways to do that and this video on things that can help us with our styles of playing is really wholesome and I really appreciate it. Keep doing what your doing brother
My personal favorite for 2019 is EZDrummer 2. Since I play on e-drums only, the sounds I got from the EZD in comparisson to the Roland sounds is simply a different world. On the second place it is the ATV 10" tom pads as an upgrade to my kit. Boosted the joy of playing instantly as well.
Ha! I've finally figured out how to sound like Gabe! Stuff your playing with RLRLKK's and always crash on 4. Thanks for all you do, you're a huge inspiration to me!
Great vid! someday I wanna be a really good drummer like you, but I know it'll take some hard work! the harry miree reference was pretty funny. your a great drummer and a great creator. I appreciate your tutorials and your playing! also HOW DO YOU HAVE THE MONEY FOR THOSE CYMBALS!! don't get me wrong they sound great but that's a lot of money for a ride!!
I’m so thankful I found this channel long ago before it really took off. You have always done great honest reviews and you have inspired me to continue on the long hard path of pursuing full time music. Thank you for being a quality person and caring about your viewers!
My favorite piece of gear, by far, is the Yamaha EAD10. Straight outta the box, it makes my kit sound great! It simplifies recording, provides a variety of tools for practice and works well in some live situations. It's not the end-all, be-all for recording or live micing, but it eliminates the need for an audio interface, mics and time in post production. It also eliminates stands, cables, and time setting up at a live gig. I can also add triggers and pads for more sound options. All in one box plus small footprint module. My favorite!
The Iron Cobra really lives up to its reputation! I have played and toured with my current pedal for the last decade and I have only had to replace the footboard once...how I broke one of these footboards I couldn't tell you tho.
Thx for this. I have been wanting to add some new gear to my repertoire this year. This will definitely give me an idea of the direction to go in. Keep it up!!!
Having not played for about 12 years my favourite product of the year was (is) my new Pearl Export kit...! I'm loving revisiting my drumming past and since TH-cam wasn't really about back then and having people like you to learn from and to inspire me is making it even more enjoyable...! Thanks very much 🤘
Thanks for this video Gabe it helped me alot with some drum upgrades that I want to buy this year.! All your videos inspire me so much..!! You are really such a inspiration for my drumming Career..! Please keep on making this EPIC drum videos!! And please show us the videos of your upgrades in the studio!
Cardigans are a sign of intelligence and show you’re masculinity through your individual taste being undirected by the mainstream trends ... I.e. lumberjacks with Farrah Fawcett beards and have never swung an ax :) You rock Gabe thanks for the info and hope to get in on the DBO in February:)
That kit reminds me of Tucker Rule from Thursday. Was always jealous of kits. Def trying out the freestyle 55a! And that recorder....beats breaking out mics and my Scarlett for quick sessions.
@@DrumBeatsOnline Thanks Gabe. You and your channel inspire me to push myself. My co worker's kid just started playing and told him that your channel is a must. Thanks bro!
That cymbal is beautiful man, but a little out of my price range for now. I actually recently upgraded my cymbals from a Meinl MCS set to a set of Zildjian K Custom Hybrids. It was either them or Byzance, which I love, but they were a little pricey for me and I was able to get 25% off the K’s. So I now have 14.25” K Hybrid hats, 2 K Hybrid Crashes 17” & 19”, 21” K Hybrid Ride, Meinl MCS Crash 16”, MCS China 16” and always closed MCS hats. I also got an LP Black Beauty CowBell, so you’re not the only one experimenting with them lol. I almost got that same Meinl bell, but chose to go with a classic as my first one instead; I mounted it on my bass’ counter hoop. But I’m becoming more and more like a tone and sound nerd, which is taking me down the route of a lot of cymbals and drum heads and even different beaters for the bass. If only there was like a rent a center for music equipment lol Eventually I hope to have a wall of cymbals like you have behind you there, maybe more lol Cymbals, Snares and Bass drums are my main focus.
If you liked that Zoom audio recorder, you will LOVE Zoom's Q2n video camera! Enclosed stereo mics record great live sound coupled with very decent video, with lots of different audio and video settings, including audio only if you prefer. Only slightly bigger than a go-pro, with LED screen with audio meters across the bottom. Camera alone is about $200, but get the "essentials bundle" that includes the lens hood for about $230. (The lens hood is a MUST, because without it, the camera has an irritating habit of creating unwanted lens flares!) Other than the lens flare issue, the only drawback I've found is that it EATS double-A batteries so fast that the camera will get warm (almost hot) to the touch. The cure is to power it with a power brick connected with a mini USB cable. Running it that way, it will record for hours with no problems. Try it, you'll like it! Best $230 I've ever spent on "music gear" that didn't actually make music! Thanks for the videos, always interesting and informative!
yes ,thanks gabe for keeping the me connected till the end.I almost felts at 10:30 you would state that the drum recordings need to be done via 8 input mics (shit ) i forgot the name . Thanks for promoting the zoom h1n. EVEN i use it for my drum recordings
@@DrumBeatsOnline Yeah man no worries!! I'm a drummer at my local church and we have a camp coming up that i have the honour to play at. Your videos have taught me heaps and helped my add some cool stuff in my playing. Thanks heaps bro! 🔥
@cycologist Actually, that's inaccurate. Even though Remo has been making a lot of the VDrums mesh heads for Roland, The Silent Strokes are a different animal altogether. They use only one thin ply (as opposed to Roland using two or even three plies on their Power Play line, TD 50 snare, etc). Because they're so thin, they are way too bouncy and don't trigger great. They're real cheap though, and very quiet.
The sound of the cowbell reminded me of drumming on a PVC pipe😅 sounded good though! My favorite new gear isn't new but it's new to me. I picked up some Sabian AAX cymbals and man do I love them.
My favorite product is probably my big fat snare drum. I found out about them a few years back, but I never thought they would be very useful until I bought one. It only takes a couple seconds to totally transform my snare sound. Best 20 dollars I've spent in a loong time 😂
Hey Gabe. I understand that you absolutely love the Iron Cobra pedals but have you tried the Speed Cobras? The 2016 edition features upgraded acu-strike beaters and a swivelling spring, as well as an upgraded heel plate to prevent and side to side movement of the foot-board. No, I'm not a spokesperson for the company just a fan of the pedals. I've been using them since they came out almost 10 years ago and to this day they are my favourite pedals ever. I have owned Trick Pro Big Foot, Demon Drives, DW9000s, DW5000s, Axis Longboards, and Eliminators (both the Redline and original). None of them compare to the ultra smooth feel man. Straight up, at least go to your local shop and try one out because you'll thank me.
I’ve only tried them briefly and I totally agree, they are SUPER smooth and insanely light weight. I almost felt like I needed a little more resistance to have more control which is what brought me to the iron cobra. But like I said, I’ve only played with them once very shortly, I’d love to try them out more in depth!
@@DrumBeatsOnline You can always buy beater weights or get heavier springs. I've found that due to it being so smooth I have like 99% accuracy. AND I use triggers so it's pretty easy to hear mistakes. You play in a pretty big band so of course you would want to be performing at your best! Anyway, thanks for taking the time to read my comment and reply! :) I can't wait for some more content!
If you're looking for a full set, AKG Drum Set Session I is a very affordable 7-mic kit (2 Overheads, Bass drum mic, 4 mics for rack toms, floor tom and snare. A good starter set, for sure! Those are my personal favorites that I've used, and they're not the most expensive mics out there.
It’s funny how the number one is minyl (idk how it’s spelled) cuz I got a minyl 18 inch crash and it sound so bad there’s not ring it just dead like I’m hitting any old sheet of metal I’d doesn’t sound like a cymbal at all
