  • For my Presets visit: johnnathancord... So here I take you through what I know how to do with the Volante for now. At first it's a bit of an overwhelming pedal, so in this series of videos I hope to show you how I develop and get certain results out of the Volante, plus any tips I figure out along the way!

Best Volante video I've seen !! I've probably put in about 4 or 5 hours plunking around with it but when it comes to using it, end up falling back on the presets as the complexity level is just enough to overwhelm you. Watching this overview was 15 mins well spent, cheers.

Thanks! I’m just about to buy a Volante. I like it’s feature set, which you demo’ed well.

As long as the “Spacing” knob is set to “even” then and the “speed” switch is set to “normal” then:
First delay head is a 1/16th note.
    Second is a 1/8th note.
    Third is dotted 1/8th note.
    Fourth is a 1/4 note.
    Relative to the tap tempo.

this is very helpful as someone who's interested but really intimidated by the volante. so if i want to do a basic triplet subdivision style delay do i just turn on the head and feedback of position 3 only?

Hetfield7782 Almost. If the SPACING knob is set to EVEN then the third head is a dotted 1/8th note not a triplet. You’ll need to turn the SPACING knob to TRIPLET first.
      With SPACING set to triplet:
      Head 1 - 16th note triplet
      Head 2 - 8th note triplet
Head 3 - quarter note triplet
      Head 4 - quarter note
Hope that helps. Don’t be too intimidated by it, it’s very easy to use and easy to get fantastic delay sounds from it. I’ve owned more delay pedals than I care to admit and it is hands down my favourite. It’s simple enough and doesn’t have any menus to access all the functions, and yet it’s capable of midi and hundreds of presets. And it sounds so great too.

Good info. Volante is so good. I had one but sold it. I kind of want it again though. I’m returning my 2nd Iridium today and may just grab a Volante as well. The way you use it, I really like its looper function.

Kevin what aren’t you liking about the Iridium?

countstoneula I love the Iridium. I had two of them which was overkill. I kept one and returned one.

Kevin that’s awesome. I though you had owned one and returned it. Bought another and returned it too. Lol.

This was really useful. You mentioned it would be a series of vids and this was part 1, but I can't find any Part 2. Am I missing something or did you end up not doing the series? Saw the ones with Iridium and the HX Stomp comparison but was hoping for more tutorializing cos these are really great vids... even AFTER I read the manual (well, most of it).

Well, I don't need midi, I don't need the looper, I'd just like to purchase this pedal and put it in to use without my brain breaking down.

Oof. Yeh it's not super straight forward is it?

@@johnnathancordy lol 😂 it's a great pedal tho, I just don't know wether to just go and buy it, I mean to work the eight editable presets is well enough for most of us gigging guitarists, also having to plug up to a computer to get the latest updates is something that I just don't want to be bothered with.
Oh well, must make another cup of tea 🍵 and have a good think about this lol ! Thanks for the video and best wishes to you. 😂👍

@@Wooburnmusic if it's any consolation strymon never update their pedals (or like. Almost never) so you won't have to worry about that haha

Thanks Johnn, I am can't let this pedal pass after all, we don't have to get into the brain stuff which suits me fine 🙂 thanks again for your video and comments. 😁👍 Yeh

Is it possible to somewhat emulate the edge type delay in this one. I believe he uses quater note delay and dotted 8th together. Thanks.

Funny. I bought the Volante Saturday and finally set it up today and was trying to do the same. I wound up finding something that reminded me of City of Blinding Lights and reacquainted myself with that song albeit without the slide. It can sound a little Edgish but doubt it would do ‘Bad’ very convincingly. It sounds great as a pedal and can kind of mimic the dotted eight by playing with the heads, levels, feedback and spacing. But certain 2290 digital tones with modulation might still be better. Somewhat emulate = yes. Nail it? I kind of doubt it.
