@ElySky95 to be honest I don’t think anybody likes a car that bursts into flames, however these by all accounts seem good. At least what we’re hearing here.
The mid size seal has a lot of bang for your buck. I drove a tesla 3 rental in California 7 months ago. It was nice. I drove the mid series Seal today and for the money, I'd buy it. Now, I need to convince my wife. She wants the Sealion...
@@PlanetautoUK the Seal Middle long range. Not the top of the line model. BYD will install a charger included in the sale. Roughly $1200.00 us for that
Funny to see that on the one hand people suck up to chinese vehicles on the other hand there are people who is saying those companies are failing and unreliable
Looking forward to seeing this. I'm considering a RWD version as it has more than enough performance, better range, and all reviews I have read so far says the dampers on the RWD car provide more comfortable ride quality on poor road surfaces which is very important for me. ADAS is main concern and how allegedly poorly BYD have implemented the new regulations on safety systems. As someone with no penalty points and over 30 years driving experience I don't need a car beeping and bonging at me in order to drive safely, in fact I found a new Kona EV that I test drove recently to be unnecessarily distracting. Apparently regulators are now looking at rules for noise pollution from audible warnings.... how this wasn't obvious before writing the nanny rules is baffling. Turning off the ADAS beeping via touchscreen menus and sub menus every time the car is switched on is far too much hassle. I'd be interested to hear your honest observations on what the BYD Seal ADAS is like? For anyone that already has one in other markets, fuse number F15 under the bonnet is the ADAS fuse, it would be very interesting to see if the car would run without nanny ADAS and without error messages if fuse F15 were to be simply unplugged.
We saw this yesterday in the metal for the first time, primarily we were there to drive Dolphin, and the guys assured us that ADAS would be getting the necessary adjustments hardware software etc then consistent OTA updates when needed, they’re aware of the challenges. Hope this assures you Mad4tar
Looks great, and my Model 3 is due for replacement in March. Unfortunately, it looks like my current insurer (LV) won't supply a quote for the BYD, nor would anyone on Compare the Market. Still going to book a test drive. See what the dealer has to say about it while I'm there.
@@PlanetautoUK yes, I did. Hopefully by the time I’m looking to swap, the insurers will have caught up. I’m sure it’s just an admin problem. But it’s definitely still on my list of cars to consider.

It is, it’s the same here with the bigger SUV’s - that’s a good thing it’s always a pleasure to drive a Subaru, thank you Kwu - have you seen our full review of the Seal?
Why I will not buy the BYD Seal right now ... *Blunt throttle response which is noticeable in all modes. *Hated the turn indicator sound and various chimes, it was a pain. *No built-in maps and navigation, which is a big miss for a car in this segment. *The software was a bit buggy. *Most of the controls are through the main screen, which is a major distraction and a safety concern. *HUD is useless in bright light and only displays current speed. I would have preferred a proper instrument cluster; this one is small and is busy with too much information on a small screen. Though I didn’t scrape anywhere, it will be a pain on slightly larger speed breakers and on bad roads.
Throttle response is similar to other BYD models and Hyundai group, allowing a controlled non gun it launch but still bloody quick, I prefer the micro cluster adopted by a few manufacturers granted would benefit from buttons etc but there’s a few more in the centre. HUD as well as cluster a challenge with sunshine in virtually any motor similar to dash reflection on older cars, considering it’s there first model like this I’m impressed the next gen will be nigh on perfect if feedback is implemented, thank you for sharing your views Calvin
