Omg! I have been having this issue for 6 years! No doctor has been helpful until you! I used the butt clench and the pain instantly started easing up! I want to cry!
YAYYYYYYY!!!!!! This is fantastic to hear @theuglyhomestead5455!!!! Thank you for updating us on your success!!!! We hope you get to 100% as fast as possible!!!
I love you! This is the first thing that came up in my search. Who'd have thought my butt muscles were weak? I did exercises for a few days and I was able to stand for 12 hours at work with no knee pain!
My wife always tells me that I have a flat backside, so all of what you say makes sense with my knee pain. It's good to hear that there is a possible correlation between my knee pain and weak glutes.
This is the first time I’ve gotten a good and logical solution which is saying something since I’m a medical student myself. I even got an mri for this and all the doctor had to say was to tell me to lose weight and I’m not even overweight. I was really starting to worry that something was seriously wrong and honestly I’m so grateful for this solution 💙
Thank you so much . This resonates with me. I'm having the same problem standing long in the kitchen and not doing a good stretch when I finish her doing those things❤
Hi Zorina, You have a very pretty name! We are very happy to be able to help and we hope you can feel some relief soon. We'd love to hear how you are doing as you progress.🙌 Please take care!

Amazing information regarding standing knee pain..my problem too, and no doctor gave me this information.. prior to my both hip replacements ( birth defects)I went to PT and " trained" for one year...The doctor also gave me strengthing exercises to do. After surgery I had little to no pain, and now 11 years later, still no pain in the hips...so it is all about muscle balance and strengthing the weak muscles! Thank you again!
Dear Docteur Dave your so explicite, i just understood so much more about knee pain after watching your videos. Ihv seen 100s of other video's on knee pain but nothing of such it was just bla bla & bla. . Pl continue helping us , God bless abudantly , thank you Dave
Thank you very very much. You have helped me understand what’s causing the pain and stiffness in my left knee. And have given me lots of techniques to practise. The orthopaedic surgeon had said that in a year or two I should have knee replacement surgery, but I just don’t want that to happen. I live in Kolkata, India. Deepa Gangjee.
You're welcome Deepa!!! We sincerely hope you get better enough to feel confident to return to your normal activities and escape needing a knee replacement!!! You've got this Deepa!!!! 🇮🇳❤️
I've always had tight but muscles but had to learn to relax them because it made my sciatica on the left side worse. The pain is so deep on the left and acupuncture hurts so much. Now I have right knee pain from overextending it plus bursitis a couple of times. I can't win.
Sorry to hear this K R&purple :-( In rare cases, over active/tight butt muscles can occur. If that's the case, then you've likely got to work on strengthening your core first. Then you could work on your knee pain after.
Am Sarma . Whenever I get up from sleep am getting much pain in right leg of knee joint . Any special suggestions while going to sleep . Hope you throw light in this regard .
He covers this in other videos (watch them all if possible, with little nuggets in each one). I had the same issue but when I started using a pillow between knees while sleeping on my side, and dangling my feet for a minute before standing up, AND flexing my glutes with feet pointed out when I first stand has helped in a major way with this issue.
Sir I just have one question, does cartilage heal itself slowly? or it does not heal at al! The literature on the Internet is confusing... some say cartilage has zero healing capacity others say it heals very very slowly... from India 🇮🇳🇮🇳
Cartilage has the capacity to heal there are studies pn pentosan healing cartilage and also i have seen a study showing exercise and walking especially stimulates cartilage regeneration. In the right conditions can definitely regenerate.

I really liked the comment about glutes, it makes sense, but to that I wanna ask - what if the person has APT(Anterior Pelvic Tilt), should he/she aim to do something different or how should we proceed? 🙂
Hi Socloseagain, That is a great question! Yes, we would recommend working on the pelvic tilt as the knee issue might be stemming from the misalignment of the hips. We have a video that we would recommend to address anterior pelvic tilt. You can view it here: " How To Fix Anterior Pelvic Tilt for Back Problems" th-cam.com/video/szA3hTwkdJA/w-d-xo.html We wish you all the best on your road to recovery! Please take care.🧡
Thank you so much for this, my job recently has had me standing still for longer periods of time rather thank walking around and climbing like before and has been killer on my knees, and no one has been able to actually describe the type of pain I’m feeling, I’ll have to try your suggestions on my next shift! I ve had this pain since I was little but was chalked up to being growing pains when I visited the doctor at that time. When it flared up again when I was a teenager if just happened that I couldn’t get in to bed seen until the end of March 2020 a week after the world shit down for a year. 3 years later my doctor with really odd and unreliable hours retired and I’m currently on the search for a GP so I can see if it really is an imbalance or an underlying issue
Oh and if anyone was wondering for pain management outside of pain killers, I use heat and elevate my knee at a slight angle. Or I’ll lay down on my side with a blanket or pillow between my knees.
My job require that I speak for 40 min. at a time standing at a podium. At the end of that I find my legs all stiffen up and have problems going down the steps. I am not comfortable walking around as I speak. What would you suggest would help?
I have Chondrimalacia, knee cap tracking is painful( centre of knee cap) when I start walking and it hurts for sometime laterally too. Then after some walk, it's gets lesser. Pls suggest
Oh no!!! Sorry to hear that you are limping Victory :-( You've got to definitely rest the knee and let it flare down so that you don't make it any worse. Tailgate swinging is the best thing to do right now to calm down the knee. "Tailgate Swinging" th-cam.com/video/6HDjYgJ4qr8/w-d-xo.html
Hi David, I also have knee pain when standing (and not walking) and I notice I do lock my knees. Instead of clenching the butt when standing, can I not just make a conscious effort to unlock my knees? Technically, standing shouldn't require so much use of the glutes anyway right?
Hi EH, We are sorry to hear that you've been having knee pain when you stand, especially when you lock your knees.🥺It's great that you want to make an effort to unlock your knees, but there are a few things to consider when it comes to standing properly. When we stand, our whole body is involved, not just our knees. We have muscles that help us maintain good posture and keep our body balanced. These muscles need to be activated correctly to prevent any imbalances and ensure that our body is aligned. One important set of muscles involved in standing are the glutes (the muscles in our buttocks) and the lower abs (the muscles in our lower belly area). They help connect our upper body and lower body and provide stability. When we clench or tighten our glutes while standing, it helps engage these muscles and support our body. However, unlocking your knees is definitely a good idea. It can help reduce strain on the knees and make standing more comfortable. Just be aware that there are other muscles that also play a role in standing, and it's important to activate them properly.😃
My legs were fine then one day I went for a run one mile. I got back and legs felt fine. Next morning my knees hurt and have been hurting ever sense. Why? I run a lot all my life and never had any leg pain in the passed.
Hey, AJ. We are so sorry to hear you've been dealign with chronic knee pain. There is a probability you've been developing and feeding into a muscle imbalance all this time. The best thing to do right now is to start doing exercises that will release some stress off your knees and strengthen your glutes.
