I was raised to work a job. I never knew any different. My parents were scared when I left work to try do something on my own. But thank God I did. I found freedom and now I could never go back to working for someone else. If I can do it, anyone can too.
I feel you - I haven't taken that plunge yet, but I yearn for that freedom, the freedom to run a business (probably something online) that doesn't nail me to a desk with fixed hours (as long as goods are being shipped and services rendered the customer shouldn't really care when I do the actual work! If I want to work from 10 PM to 7 or 8 AM, so what? At a regular job? Your employer will explode if you tell them you don't want regular office hours and you also don't want to come into the office (despite the fact that during covid it was suddenly possible for many people to work from home)...seriously, remote work was possible in the early 2000s, when people started to get DSL-Internet-Connections!

Hunting and fishing are great skills also. I wish my dad taught me how to hunt :/ I had to learn how to use firearms as an adult!
On after hours, I have coworkers that will stay for karaoke at the office and go to company picnics-sacrificing even more personal time for the company. 😬 Does that qualify as BDSM?? 😂🤣
JOB = Just Over Broke. I stumbled upon your channel that perfectly articulates my sentiments regarding the 9-5 grind. I'm optimistic that your videos will reach individuals who mistakenly believe that exchanging time for money is the sole path to success. I consistently attempt to encourage my friends to explore beyond their comfort zones, but my efforts have been largely unsuccessful. The majority of them perceive the 9-5 routine as the standard, and attempting to shift their perspective seems futile. It appears their mindset is firmly established, and altering it is beyond anyone's control; perhaps it's their destined path.

Indeed, with kids (note: A wife, too - but you didn't say if you are married!) you're likely a pauper (you work all day, come home tired, but get told that you got to help with housework and spend time with the kids - when all you want to do is either "Netflix and chill" or on very bad days? Curl up in bed and cry!)...ps: Similar age, less savings...then again: I did take a few (read: A lot!) of detours in my life, so I haven't been working for 20 years either! ps: THIS is why employers love married people, with kids and a mortgage! They have little to no choice (and most likely savings that will cover a few months at best, if they lose their jobs!), they are "resilient" (read: Have resigned themselves to wage-slavery-life, that will never get them anywhere!) and they will do almost anything for some more income (so overtime for the slim chance of promotion? Sure and they won't quit if the worst sort of guy, who just has better interpersonal skills (can sell themselves better to corporate - read: Can kiss ass better and cozy up to management!), gets the promotion instead!)

Glad you brought up 80/20 rule, its very versatile! From a different perspective, 20% of the tasks i do provide 80% of the value for my clients, so by focusing completely on those tasks, i have more time for myself!
at the beginning of a passive income creation phase, or at the period you doubt passive income, it's ok to work for someone where he has to pay you if you follow order whether the company's strategy works or not, but forcing someone to make another one rich is slavery
It's more like 10, 12, 14+ hours a day, 6, 7 days a week working, and you're still poor. Life is about balance, and to do the things you are passionate about. But in America, the super rich and the employers have stolen this from the people, and have turned them into slaves.
I personally know lots of people who would happily make clothing or food or provide cleaning services if they could do it as freelancers with dignity and decent pay, probably at a better quality than those tasks are done by wage slaves now
Society collapse requires everyone giving up and dying all at once. So no, society will never actually collapse. It will change, even drastically. Many may suffer and die but death and suffering are happening now. Is a dangerous shift of social order my concern? Perhaps it should be. Perhaps I will suffer and die because of it. But the real question I think we should ask ourselves is this, is there something worth dying for? If not then continue along with trading your time for the compensation offered. But if you believe something is worth dying for then you can be sure it is worth living for. So there it is that no, society will never collapse until all life ends.
Do you think the present society is oh so grand as it is right now?
